  1. The question I have is; how long does one continue usinfg Rogaine post op? I started three weeks after surgey and have continued twice a day foam for over 4 months. I have been contemplating switching to once a day treatment. Everything has been going extremely well so I am a bit reluctant to stop at this time.
  2. Congrats. You are in the hands of a world class surgeon at the top of his game! Besides being in the hands of a skilled surgeon, you can rest assured that his honesty and ethics will will serve you well!
  3. I live in the US and purchase my Rogaine Foam on e bay. With shipping, the average cost per can ranges approximately $10 - 11.00 (US).
  4. The best shaving explanation I have read was written by Dr. Hasson last year: http://www.regrowhair.com/hair-transplant-surgery/hair-transplant-shaving/
  5. Gizmo, How long do you plan on continuing with the Rogaine foam?
  6. You may also supplement the MSM with Biotin which may assist in hair growth. Also, Rogaine foam post HT may jump start the native hair.
  7. djdennis, I switched from liquid to foam and believe it was a good choice: 1. Easier to apply and leave on hair 2. Possibly penetrated better 3. Less irritating (no propylene glycol) On the downside, the foam is more costly. I think the foam is a better delivery system. BTW, no side effects when I switched over.
  8. I started taking 2 large MSM pills per day for a total of 3000 mg. I recently switched to a powder which is easy to take. I read that MSM has a short half life so I take 1/2 scoop twice a day.
  9. Dr. Beehner has recommended on this site taking 1 or 1.25 finasteride Monday- Wednesday & Friday since it has a long enough half life and has proven to be almost as effective as daily dosing. I am 10 weeks post hair transplant and doing great with my post op regimen which ncludes 1.25 finasteride every day plus Rogaine foam twice a day. I am having some side effects and plan to switch to the Beehner recommendation in at 6 months post op. I also plan to cut dowm on the Rogaine foam to once a day. I am waiting to decrease both to give the post op growth a good chance to benefit from these treatments.
  10. Bill, I don't have any current pics yet but have included pre & post op picturesfrom Dr. Feller. I am quite fortunate to have such rapid growth with little if any sign of an HT. 11. To all, Going on week 10. I had 3300 grafts; approx 1900 hairline 1400 in the crown. The hairline growth has been surprisingly rapid. I lost about 1/3 of grafts and kept waiting for the remainders to fall out. It never happened! Instead at about 6 weeks, the new grafts started to grow. The crown area has responded similarly but a bit slower. I would guess that 1/2 of the grafts remained. I tossed the Dermmatch and Toppik and patiently await the final results in 9-12 months. So far so good!

  13. I used a combination of Aloe, Hydrocortisone/benadryl spray. After the wound healed; about two weeks I have applied Emu Oil 2x/day. I found the Aloe a bit irritaing so I guess try what works best for you.
  14. The density of the hairline and space between rows of grafts look sparse. Did you use a coalition Dr.?
  15. Here's a second: http://www.hairlosshelp.com/forums/messageview.cfm?cati...57&FTVAR_MSGDBTABLE=
  16. Insecure, I am sure you did extensive research. I just did a cursory google and found little positive about your doc. For starters; Hairlosshelp had plenty of comments: http://www.hairlosshelp.com/forums/messageview.cfm?cati...00&FTVAR_MSGDBTABLE= Perhaps his Board Certification impressed you. You can do much better with HT expertise but not much better on price. I pity those who choose a surgeon for a $2 graft. Roll the dice & Good luck with your choice.
  17. I had 3 consults and each provided me with a range of grafts that I needed and the cost. Cost varies due to the # of grafts since prices usually decrease after a certain threshold of grafts. In my case last month, I was quoted $10,750 for 3000 grafts by Dr. Feller and was not charged an additional fee after he grafted 3300. As far as expectations and future procedures, I feel that I have been provided with a realistic honest opinion by my surgeon. In fact, he told me approximately how much donor hair remained. Also, this site provided tremendous information about expectations, costs, etc... The hairblogs and discussion forum were great resources. Those who do little research and choose an unproven surgeon are more likely to have issues as you claim.
  18. I believe the answer to your "intention question" choices; 1, 2, 3 would be all of the above.
  19. I can't speak for the results but the differences I noticed are: Liquid lasts longer and is less expensive Foam - easier to apply, less irritating and appears to penetrate skin better.
  20. Thanks Dr. Beehner. I appreciate your recommendation.
  21. MSM is a supplement which can be purchased at any vitamin store. I started taking one 1500mg tablet twice a day post hair transplant. MSM may increase hair and nail growth. I recently purchased the MSM powder. One small scoop has 5000mg (5gm). I currently take about 5000-700mg daily. I am almost 7 weeks post op and I plan to take it for another 3-5 months or whenever I run out of the item. I also take 5000mg of Biotin daily and a good Omega 3 supplemment. I also take a potent multi vitamin. Other than that, I take Propecia and apply Rogaine as recommended. Rogaine may help jump start the native hairs that have been traumatized or shaved down. I also find that a high quality Emu oil is helpful to the hair and scalp. I guess a lot of this is trial and error and I have followed recommendations from members on this site. Will this regimen help preserve the follicle, jump start hair growth, minimize shock loss? I don't know but I have shed very little recipient or native hair. I am still waiting for the recipient shed since I have only lost maybe 25%. I do believe that some of the grafted hair in the hairline is definitely growing although it seems on the early side.
  22. Janna, Does your post op instructions recommend Rogaine post op? If yes, for how long? Thanks
  23. Thanatopsis awry, How long do you plan to use Rogaine foam post op? I was considering 3-6 months.
  24. Dr. Beehner, I quadrisect 5mg of Finasteride and have taken approx 1mg daily for the past 4 months with side effects discussed. I have been contemplating the following dosing options: 1 0.5mg daily (difficult to cut pill into 1/8). 2. 1mg Mon- Wed- Friday Have you seen any difference in either of these alternative dosing schedules in terms of efficacy or decreased libido? Thanks
