    Thyroid

I wasn't referred to a specialist but I am having blood work done probably some time this week to test for it.
  3. I would imagine this procedure would not be well suited for males, seeing that mpb would eventually take in and the hair covering the scar would be lost, thus exposing it.
  4. I (as well as my doctor) have noticed that I seem to have many of the symptoms associated with hypothyroidism. Is it possible that this can have a significant effect on hair loss? Also, if it turns out that this is the cause of the problem, will whatever measures taken to treat this problem also help my hair regrow?

  6. Thanks. I believe she said to call if i wanted to get the prescription and she would write it out. I do have a concern about taking it though, seeing that it is intended for men 18 and older. Do you think taking it at 16 would be a problem?
  7. i don't see why she would think that seeing that she had basically no information to base that assumption on.
  8. So i went to the drematologist today and she told me basically nothing useful. Basically all she said was that "there is rogaine and propecia and more or less nothing else you can do". Seems like a real knowledgeable person, huh?
  9. That's what I've been using for the last couple of months...I haven't really noticed a difference. I'm going to see the dermatologist on tuesday...finally. I'm kind of nervous as to what he's going to say, but hey, I have nothing to lose other than more hair if i don't go.
  10. my mom never took me to see a dermatologist, but i guess she asked someone at work and they reccomended rogaine. she ordered it and it came in the male, but im guessing she read the box and saw that its notfor use for those undre 18, and that it doesnt help w/ the hairline, because she hasn't given it to me/said anything yet. also, im almost positive that the front of my hairline is starting to dissapear too. i don't see how/why this could be happening at this young of an age??? im going to look more into saw palmetto and then try and have her get that for me.

People with thin hair cannot receive hair transplants?
  13. I dont know if its just me, but it seems as if i have lost a decent amount of hair w/in the past week or so. I finally convinced my mom to bring me to the dr., so i assume shell be looking into that in the near future. Is it true, that stress will also cause hairloss? It seems to make sense, b/c I've had a terrible week. I also have extremely thin hair, will any of these suggestions make my hair thicker? If you look at my hair from certain angles, you can see my scalp. tkotko, how long did you perform the massages for, and do you think they really helped in slowing your balding process?
  14. Ok, I'm trying hard to get my mom to take me to the dermatologist but she won't. Shes being rediculous. It's getting bad. People are starting to notice and I'm hearing jokes about it constantly.
  15. My hairline has been receeding a lot lately to the point where it is getting very noticable. I'm only 16 years old, so surgery is not an option at the moment. Is there any way I can reverse this process and grow some hair around my temples?
