  1. Hi, I am a female with hair loss too, and I am trying to find some women who have had positive results with anything they have tried. Let me know how you are doing
  2. thank you. I tried to do a consult with Dr. Lee, but they said they are not taking any more women patients. Is there anywhere esle i can get topical spironolactone? Please someone help me. I have been looking for some kind of help for months now, and i am runnking out of hope.
  3. thanks for your reply. I will try that, but i was also hoping to find a doctor in this area to give me some kind of feedback on my problem. Please if anyone knows a doc in this area let me know.
  4. I know this is not a question about an ht, but i was wondering if anyone has experience with a doctor in California that has prescribed topical spironolactone? I am looking for a doctor that will help me. I do not think i am a good candidate for an ht, as i have thinning all over which has gotten reaally bad in the last year. PLEASE ANYONE WHO COULD OFFER ME SOME HELP WITH SPIRONOLACTONE, i would appreciate it. thanks
  5. is it possible to use hair from someone elses head for a hair transplant?
  6. Tarasilk, thank you for writing me back. I am glad to hear that your ht went well. You may have some of the same aspects of hair loss as me, but i dont know if i would be a good candidate for a ht. I have a lot of miniturized hair and my hair is thinned out a lot all over my head. Most of my hair loss is in the front though, so maybe something could still be done. Did you have a lot of thinning hair all over or just the pattern of male hair loss in the front? I hope you dont mind me asking, but any kind of advice from a woman who has been through hair loss problems, and then had a hair transplant that they are happy with is a very good person for me to learn from. thank you very much for any advice you can give me. And again i am happy that your hair transplant went well for you.
  7. Bill, Thank you for the info about Spironolacone. I talked to my dermatologist about it and he says that he will not prescribe it to me, because of the side effects. He is refering me to an endocrynologist to have some more tests ran. He did not find anything out of the ordinary when he ran his own tests. Hopefully my hair loss situation can be helped in some kind of way. I got my fingers crossed. thanks again
  8. Hi Tarasilk, I just wanted know a little more about Spironolactone. 1. does it have any side effects 2. where can i get it 3. how much does it cost 4. Did it seem to really help slow down your hair loss, and are you still using it? My hair loss is getting much worse and much more noticiable now. I think I have male pattern loss, but i am not really sure. I may have thinning all over. Most of my thinning is on top of my head, in the front, and also on the temples. I think i also have miniturized hair in my temple area. Where was your hair loss and how did your HT go? good i hope, I wish you much luck and happiness with your HT. please let me know anything you can to help me. thank you so much

  12. Thank you all, I bought some Nizoral 1% and have been using it for 3 days now. My head is still just as itchy as it was before. How often can i use the shampoo? My hair is long and already dry, so it dont really want to dry it out anymore. I really wanted to try it because i have heard it may block DHT. I sure hope this helps. I also wanted to start using the pill form of Spironolactone, does anyone know where to purchase this and how much does it cost? Thank you again
  13. Hi, i havent had an HT yet, and i have only seen one HT doctor about this(Dr. Sword). I have not heard very good things about him and i am still trying to find other ways to help my hair loss situation at this time. I am very happy to find women on this web site, because any advice or other women's experience with hair loss can be helpful. My hair loss seems to be overall thinning, with most noticable in the frontal hairline, I also seem to have miniturized hair in the temple areas. I would like to be able to have an HT, but i dont know if i will be able to, because of the overall thinning. If you dont mind me asking, what is your hair loss situation?
  14. thank you everyone for the info about the shampoos to try. I am going to look for the Nizoral 1% and see if that helps. I will also make another appointment for my dermatologist. thank you so much

  16. Bill, yes it is true that i have had 2 kids in 3 years time, but i have been slowly losing my hair since my first child 12 years ago. It is just getting to the point where there is not alot left to lose, so it is really noticable now. Truthfully it looks horrible. I have talked to doctors already and they have checked my hormones, liver, thyroid and everything in between. They did not find anything medically wrong with me. I have not tried to use anything yet. Im kind of scared. I have not really heard good things about using minoxodil. But thanks for your advice, i will check out the other doctors you have suggested. thanks again
  17. Thanks again Bill, I have looked at a few of the doctors on the post you suggested, but i do not see any women who look like they have the same kind of hair loss that i am experiencing. I was hoping you might have a suggestion for a good doc who is experienced in women. Also I am not currently using anything to help the hair loss. Do you think maybe i should use monoxodil or something else to slow it down? I am afraid to use monoxodil, because i have heard that if you stop using it the hair loss becomes worse. thanks for any info you could offer me. Does anyone else have any suggestions, Expecially women.
  18. Hi everyone. I just wanted to know if it is normal to have an itchy head when losing hair. Does anyone else have this problem, expecially any women. Please someone let me know if this is normal. My husband is losing his hair and he says his head does not itch. I am not using anything on my head, just normal shampoo and conditioner. Please let me know. Thank you I am a woman
  19. Bill, thanks for the info. Yes i have been to the dermatalogist about this. He tested all the medical reasons for hair loss, and he thinks mine in hereditary. But is it normal to have an itchy scalp all day long when losing hair? Most of my hair loss is in the front hair line and on top of my head, but it seems like my hair is thinning everywhere, but i am not sure. I saw Dr. Sword about 6 months ago, and he said i would be a good candidate for ht, but he did not talk to me about shock loss, or if he thought i should use monoxidil or anything else. Please any advice would be very helpful and appreciated. Do you have any suggestions for a Doc in Cal.
  20. I am still losing my hair. It seems to be getting much worse. My scalp itches all the time, is this normal when losing hair? If my hair is still falling out, can i still get a ht?
  21. Tarasilk, Thanks for the info about hair loss after childbirth.. How long did your hair continue to fall out? and did your hair ever go back to normal?
  22. Hi, did anyone get my message about if my thinning hair could be due to the fact that i had two babies recently?
  23. Thank you everyone for the great advice. It is true that some docs don't really tell you if they think you have diffuse thinning. I had my consult with a doctor and he said i would be a great candidate for a ht, but i think that i may actually have diffuse thinning all over. I am kinda hoping that the most current thinning has alot to do with the fact that i just had 2 babies in the last 2 years. But i did start losing my hair after my first child 12 years ago. The nice healthy hair i used to have before that never did come back. It just kept getting thinner over the years. I hope this gets better. I have seen my regular doctor and also a dermatoligist. They did not find anything wrong healthwise. They suggested that i take a multi vitamin and biotin. I have been doing this for almost 2 months now. I have heard that a woman can have shock loss after the birth of a baby. What else can cause this and what exactly is it? I mean i think i have some kind of an idea. But any more info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again everyone
  24. Hi, I am a woman who has been experiencing thinning hair for 12 years now. I live in California and was wondering if anyone has had a good experience with a hair transplant doctor from ca. I have had a consult with dr. sword, but have not heard really any good news on this forum about him. Are there any women who have had good transplants here in California, and if so do you have any pictures. Thank You I am a woman
