  1. interesting comment regarding protein. I'll have to try that. I'm taking biotin 300mg every other day, but haven't really noticed much of a difference.
  2. Thanks for all the responses! I've started switching it up already where I'm wearing hats to class. Hasn't been a problems with profs and I sit in the back so not really an issue. Since I've been wearing the hats, my friends have been goofing off, but that has decreased somewhat. So, hopefully I won't have a reason to lay someone down if they mess with the hat post-op! I do have native hairs in the recipient hair. I'm classified as a NW 5, but have the hairline. I thought about requesting to not have the recipient area shaved, but I've read that its better to shave it down and makes the process easier. The way I look at it, whatever gives me the best possible result is what I'll gow with. So, shaving it is. Also the donor area length is approx a 3.5 blade, so not problems hiding the HT. All, I do now is get a taper. Thanks for all the advice, I appreciate it!
  3. I'm currently a grad student and am scheduled to get my HT with Dr. Feller at the end of March. Since I don't really have the 2-3 weeks "away" from school, any suggestions on possible stories as to why I'm always in a baseball cap (especially one that is big for my head)? Theoretically, I could just go to class and come back. But all my friends know that I'm usually out and about. Plus, I have a roommate. Its obvious that I have a receding hairline and a little short in the crown, but needless to say, no one really knows the extent of my situation because of Toppik (and lots of it). Thoughts/Suggestions are appreciated.

  5. Interesting points, especially about looking down. I'm back in school and expecting to get my HT done at the end of March. Since, I kinda/sorta have to do some studying/reading, is this going to be a problem?
  6. Guys, I've been reading various posts and I'm a bit confused on the scar issue. Do scars stretch after the HT? If so, how do you limit the stretching? Thanks!

  8. Bill- You suggested not to engage in activities that would put pressure on the post-surgery donor area. Could you give a few examples as to what you mean? Thanks.
  9. Thanks for the replies guys, very good information. notgoing: say G-Q-N-D-N slowly and keep repeating it faster...you'll get it.
  10. I was reading a write-up of Dr. Feller's office visit and noticed that he uses staples instead of sutures. Any idea why? If you have gone through a procedure with Dr. Feller that involved staples, what was the pain level like during and post-op. I'm assuming you had to go back to the office to have them removed.
  11. how was the pain level during the op until today?
  12. If its that much of a concern, how about sprinkling some Toppik?
  13. Thanks for all the suggestions and comments! I picked up the foam this afternoon and just put some on this evening. It doesn't have the slick oily feeling like the old one did, which is a plus. I also picked up the Nizoral 1% and ordered Revita which I will cycle between. Let's see how this works out.
  14. thanatopsis_awry, Made the call to Dr. Feller today and the earliest date i could get for a consult was the end of Jan! Just for kicks, I asked what the next possible date for an HT would be and I was told April. Did you have a logn wait between you consult and your scheduled procedure?
  15. Thanks for the welcome! Yea, I unfortunately didn't realize the shedding effect. I'm going to stick with both them and hopefully I'll see some positive results sooner than later.
  16. Thanks for the info on Revita. I'll look into that. Yea, it sucks that Propecia takes so long for results, but hey you gotta do what you gotta do!
  17. Thanks for the input! I used the older version of Rogaine before and am ordering the foam tonight. I've read all across this board that the Propecia and Rogaine is a great combo. I'm going to look into the shampoos and get something ASAP. I see you have the HT with Dr. Feller coming up. What was your consult process like with him and other docs? I'm from the NY area and will be calling a few to schedule some consults.
  18. Hey Everyone, I literally joined this website last night and the information on here is AMAZING! I'm 27 years old and I fall between a Norwood IV and V. I've used rogaine for a year back when I was 22, but stopped because of the itch and flaky scalp effect. I've been on and off propecia for the last two years, but have started taking it again (1 mg). I've been using Toppik to cover things up, but with my busy schedule I don't wash it out every night. In any case, I am researching HT doctors in the NY area and plan on getting one done once I find the right one. I have used the search function on here, but are there any recommendations anyone can make as to what I should do to possibly limit the hair loss and perhaps start the regrowth? I am split between using Nioxin and Nizoral and am still researching that as well. Thanks for the help!
