  1. Hi, All I can say is that I went to a doctor to have mine removed. Later on I've actually read that leaving sutures in to long can provoke inflamation/infection which will ofcourse not improve you chances of have a nice scar. So my firm advise to you is to go to your doctor. It might be annoying, but he wont mind
  2. Thanks for the kind words. I definately feel its worth it I dont remember how much the procedure was, so I cant help you there. I dont feel that one should be asking other patients about price anyway, that only amounts to heresay - ask the clinic where you plan to go. Any clinic I've heard of are happy to quote you a price. Had I remembered the price I would have told you though! I had app 1850 FUT done if I recall correctly. I dont remember how many where ones, twos and threes. I do remember that Dr. Epstein told me that he probably would be able to make a good result in one procedure and I think he was right. Most doctors will tell you how many times you need to come back if any and I personally liked that Epstein kept trying to understand how my hair looked before, because in my opinion some guys have a "signature" which means they will go with the same pattern evey time and I wanted to make sure that didnt happen. I had given a lot of thought to how I wanted it placed, not just the hairline, and we had a really nice talk about the art of doing natural work. In terms of my scar it was really itchy for a long time (months) and only in the last 3 months have I started having any sense of touch above the scar in the neck. On the sides its been no nerve damage though. Scar pictures are hard to take and as far as I can tell my scar is a bit darker than I would like it to be, but its only one year old. Its a nice scar btw, very even and without any "nooks" for lack of a better expression. Good luck with your coming hair! PS: I've included one where its a bit shorter to give you an indication of how normal it looks from the top aswell. I apologise for the bad quality of my web-camera.
  3. Hi Everyone I havent been to this forum for around 6 months now. Its just stops being a priority after you have hair again. I posted a series of pictures after the procedure and now I just want to tell you that I am amazed at the results I got out of all my research, travels and money. Original posting I dont have the dense head of hair that I had in my teens and early twenties, but its pretty good for a guys turning 34 this month, and whats better, its seems to be staying. Its probably quite normal for HT patients to go through some anxiety of one day realising that the ride is over and the hair only grew back once. But the density remains the same and nobody, not even hairdressers, knows what been going on. The picture isnt super clear, but its taken at a dinner and I'm telling you, thats how it looks in the mirror! So once again, I have to thank Dr Epstein, his superb crew and this forum for being there for me. /Anders

  5. I guess polls arent a big thing in this kind of forum To comment on Roberts reply. I've looked at other people a lot more now, in terms of having curly hair and I have to say that its impossible to say, if this theory has merrit or not. It seems to me that there are as many straight haired bald men as there are curly ones...? So thanks for your reply, and like you say, lets get back to the business of viable solution ...
  6. It was a sunburn! I have been very careful, but now - 6 weeks out I was letting my guard down on an overcast day. The swelling is coming down now and I'm ofcourse worried that it'll have some effect on the appearance of my scalp, but as long as I don't scratch it, I'm hoping it'll be fine. So this is the lesson. For scandinavians don't go in the sun with that newly planted area!!!! I've revised my summerplans as to not include windsurfing this year at all. Again thanks for all your help! Anders PS: Epstein btw concluded that it MIGHT be a reaction to Rogain. In any case I'm now off the "accelerated growth" plan. I figure it'll grow out anyhow, but maybe a bit slower. Anything is better that making that scalp oversensitive, its the home of my investment!!
  7. Hi Board From yesterday when I came in from the sun my scalp literally started bubbling! Its itchy as hell (like when you get poison ivy on you) and its all I can do from scratching back... Did any of you have this kind of reaction? Thanks!

  9. Hi Miami305 Sleep is a good question. I have found that particular thing to be the most annoying of all these new habbits a HT forces you into. I am sleeping OK, but the elevated sleeping needed to minimize swelling for the first 5 days (I had some swelling, but a taped strip on the forehead kept it at bay and no "black-eye" effect). Now I sleep much better and I'm not on several pillows anymore, but my scar makes it less comfortable to sleep on my back. These last 2 days theres been dramatic improvement on my scar, so I'm sure I'll be back to full sleeping-depth very soon Suture-removal hurt a bit. I wont kid you about that. The coagulated blood was holding on to those nylon threads pretty good, so the doctor had to cut up the suture in several places (on my request) to keep the length being dragged through my skin to a minimum. I think the overall feeling I had wasnt pain, but nervousness about the scarline. My doctor told me that having your sutures removed is often more painful than patients think. Some even go for a special spray that reduces sensation on the skin. I'm getting happier everyday about the scar. I'm even getting back some sensation all the way across the incision which I think is pretty cool. Shedding continues also, so it looks like I'm almost at the stage where I was before the operation, but that makes for a gradual "homecoming" instead, which I'm very excited about! Good luck with your visit to Dr. E. - Anders
  10. I hope it wasnt too many pictures. I was always looking at pictures tirelessly when doing my own prep-work, so I figures "more is more" in this case Hope it helps decisions along. I'll be posting some more along the way.... Comments are more than welcome!!!
  11. This morning. Heres the scaring. I think its coming along nicely. There continued shedding in the front, but at a very slow pace. The scar is still a bit elevated as you can see. I'm wondering when this will go away... maybe someone knows? I'm also using the Rogaine given to me by Dr. Epstein now to speed re-growth along.
  12. Scar is showing on this one. I wasnt too happy with the visibility, but thats the price I pay for getting back my hair
  13. Went for a buzz-but although the scar would then show as I had chosen for Dr. Epstein to trim away the hair on the recipient site. This makes it much easier to pack in the grafts. As you can see all the flaking is out.
  14. I opted for a real doctor removing the stitches and not myself This one taken after the removal. A lot of old blood was making the it very hard to pull the thread out. Likely this is why I was feeling a lot of discomfort sleeping on it...
  15. Suture removal day!! I waited a little longer - to be on the safe side. I read somewhere that early suture removal didnt speed up healing and that a scar still having sutures which hurts is a sign to keep the sutures in a little whiel longer... This picture is before removal.
  16. Unchanged situation. Although the scalp was becoming far less irritated at this point. picture's a bit fuzzy....
  17. Right after a wash. The yellow stuff even more visible, but no infection to be seen. Still using graft-cyte.
  18. A lot of flakes / yellow stuff coming out now. I had some graft-cyte left, so I kept spraying.
  19. - taken by Dr. Epstein on the day of the operation. A closer look at the units.
  20. - taken by Dr. Epstein on the day of the operation. Intra-op picture.
