  1. NW5a, spex, wanthairs, hairthere, Thanks to you all for the fast replies! Sounds like the next few months may get exciting! All your input is greatly appreciated! I get so wrapped up in my job, family, small children, keeping up the house, etc., I haven't been on the network for a while and finally made time. It sure is nice to have this kind of information available and support based on peoples experiences and expertise. Thanks to you all again for your time! I'm looking forward to the next several months! Chris H.
  2. I had a H.T. in Nov. Did a lot of research and narrowed my two choices down to DR. Rose in Tampa, and Dr. Epstein in Miami. I live in central Fla. My wife and I drove to both for consults, and to be 100% honest, we both had WAY better feelings about Dr. Epstein for several reasons. Dr. Rose works out of a Dermatology office, and "also" does hair transplants. He was much less aggressive in his estimate for how many grafts he would do in one session, but the price was going to be the same as Dr. Epstein's, and Dr. Epstein did twice the amounts of grafts! Also, Dr. Epstein is a facial plastic surgeon who's vast majority of procedures are hair transplants. I won't say anything bad about Dr. Rose, it's just that for a hair transplant, I went away with a feeling that there was better out there, and sure enough, a week later when we went to Miami, I could see the difference in what a better setting I was in! To be honest, I remember sitting with the wife during the consult in Miami, and we were both WAY more impressed than we were at Dr. Rose's. Considering what we thought was a much higher quality office, and the fact that Dr. Epstein wanted to do twice the grafts that Dr. Rose was, we were afraid of how much more it was going to cost, and was pleasantly surprised that the prices were the same! No lie! My best advise if your able due to travel, etc., do what i did. Check out more than one Dr. for yourself and be your own judge. But that is my opinion, and I'm really glad I went with Epstein! Good Luck!
  3. Had 2617 grafts in mid November, a little over three months, and am curious about the average time frame that others have noticed results? My procedure was done by Dr. Epstein in Miami, and I can't say enough about him and the entire experience. I've read several reviews about him and everyone raves over him for so many reasons, and I too feel I went to the right DR! No one but my wife ever knew I had the procedure, and the donor scar area is not noticeable even though I keep my hair cut short (tight) on the sides. I am now in the waiting period for the transplanted hairs to grow out. My wife says she thinks it's starting to look a little thicker, but I don't really see much growth yet. Was taking Propeica daily, and using Rogaine before bed every night. Still using the Rogaine but cut out the Propecia as it had a less than desirable effect on Jr., if you know what I mean. I feel confident that with the H.T. and Rogaine, the hair will come in, I'm just wondering how long??? For some reason I thought I'd see real results after three months, but also heard it can take between six to nine months? I can't wait to see a real noticeable difference. When that day comes, I plan on going to see Dr. Epstein in person and thank him! Oh, I guess the good side of gradual re-growth is that it will be less obvious that I had a procedure when the hair comes in slowly over time. Anyone have some averages for time frames? Thanks all!

  5. Congrats on the procedure! Reading your posting about DR. Epstein and how happy you were hit home for me, as I too was thrilled with my experience with the Dr. and his staff! I had my H.T. in Nov. I'm a little over three months into it, and no one at work, or anyone else other than my wife ever knew I had it done. The goal for me was 2,500 grafts, and ended up with 2,617 and like you, the good Dr. said the extra 117 were on the house! I can't say enough about how highly I thought of Dr. Epstein and the entire staff for all the same reasons as yours. After a very short time the donor area scar became fairly minimal, and even though I keep my hair cut pretty tight (short) on the sides, you'd have to really search up close or know it's there to see it. I'm now in my holding pattern to see how the transplanted hair is going to come in? My wife swears my hair is looking a little thicker, but I don't really see it yet. But... I've read it'll take between six to nine months for the results to really come out. During this waiting game (grow in process) it is nice that there were never any obvious signs that I ever had the procedure. I can't wait to see the results now, so I know I just need to be patient. Started with Propecia daily and Rogaine before bed, but am now just using the Rogaine. The Propecia was taking a little bit of the lead out of my pencil, if you know what I mean. And what's the point of looking better if you can't REALLY enjoy it! But with the H.T. and the Rogaine, I'm confident the results will come. I'm only a three hour drive north of Miami, and when the day comes that I feel the transplanted hair has come in all the way, I'm driving down to visit the office and Thank them in person! Anyway, it's nice to read someone else who feels the same way about DR. Epstein as I do. Good luck to you!
  6. Tomorrow will be 30 days since my HT with Dr. Epstein in Miami. I was really impressed with him and his staff, and was pretty happy with the procedure. Considering it's surgery, there was only a few days of being careful, but no big deal at all! I went back to work two weeks after and no one has a clue. Now it's the waiting game for the transplanted hair to start growing in. Can't wait! I bet you'll like the Dr. and his staff. I did! Chris H.
  7. I just had a hair transplant with Dr. Epstein in Miami and was extremely pleased with him and his quality of work. I remember during my office consult a few months prior to my procedure, I was given a brochure about Dr. Epstein which documented his background, experience, credentials, etc. He is a facial plastic surgeon, and has even done some charity work on burn patients, etc., and I do recall some documentation and photo's that he does all kinds of hair transplants to include female (or male) eyebrows! I know the Dr. also works out of New York, and based on my experience with him, I would recommend him highly! I am in the healing stages of my hair transplant as I only had the procedure last Tuesday, but I will tell you the entire experience with him was positive. If you contact his office they might even send you some info. on what you are requesting? Good luck. Chris H. in Florida
  8. In my early 30's I had a transplant with M.H.R. in Orlando. That was about 12 years ago and frankly I don't remember how many grafts I had, maybe 750? But I do remember I thought it was a bit pricey for what I receieved. I was promoised dense coverage as I was receeding in the front, and had a fairly good sized bald spot on my crown. I was never very happy with the results. Again, this was a good 12 or so years ago, and there have been some decent advances in hair transplants. Now I'm 44. I'm active and work out, and feel young, but in recent years I've noticed quite a bit more recession with my hair line, front and crown. From time to time I debated another procedure, and I finally discussed the issue with my wife. I'm glad I did because she's the type of person who does her reserch and investigates things thoroughly. She found this site on the internet and her opinion based on what she read, was that the Hair Transplant groups, M.H.R., Bosley, etc., did not generate the raves omongst their patients, as did some indiviual surgeons who specialize in Hair Transplants. I was ready to dig up the old M.H.R. business card I had, but based on the patient reviews we read on this site, our impression was that the clinic groups for Hair Transplants, were more or less like going to the H.M.O.'s for medical insurance. After much reserch we narrowed our choice down to two Florida Dr's (I live in central Fla.) and after consults with both, decided to go with Dr. Jeffrey Epstein in Miami. I had my procedure Nov. 13th, where I had 2617 grafts. I'm not sure of the break down, but I know a majority went towards rebuilding my front hair line, with fairly decent coverage over my crown. I have thanked my wife over and over for she was the one who found Dr. Epstein! I don't have a single complaint about the Dr., his office, or staff! His experience, credentials, and achievements, are all deserved. Dr. Epstein is a very dynamic and confident individual. He is not snobby in the least, and makes you feel very comfortable, and will make sure you have no unanswered questions. I also can not say enough about his staff. True professionals, but with outstanding bedside manners! Very friendly. Very kind! The entire experience from the consultation to the procedure, and after, has been easy and plesant. My wife took the three hour drive with me, and Dr. Epstein's office got us a great discount at a Hampton Inn, ten minutes from his office. The hotel is also situated in the middle of a mall shopping district, so my wife had something to do during my procedure. The other Dr. that I was considering wanted to do about half the grafts that Dr. Epstein did, but his price was about the same. This time, as opposed to my M.H.R. experience, I feel very satisfied and pleased that I got more than my moneys worth! I am anxsiously waiting my healing process now to see just how it turns out! Based on my experience with Dr. Epstein so far, I would highly recommend him and his office and staff to anyone considering a quality yet affordable Hair Transplant! Chris H.
