I have been using Avodart for 12 months now. Haven't experienced any side effects as such.

I have been taking Avodart for the last 12 months. Planning to start a family and a little skeptical about continuing with Avodart. Read some articles on the internet with the following information: ??? It is important that you do not father a baby while taking Avodart. ??? If you father a child, your partner must tell her doctor that the baby was conceived while you were taking Avodart. If your partner becomes pregnant, or thinks she has become pregnant, she must contact her prescriber. ??? This medicine has been reported to affect semen characteristics (reduction in sperm count, semen volume, and sperm motility) in healthy men. This means that there is a possibility that it may therefore reduce your fertility and ability to father a child. If this is a concern to you, you should discuss fertility with your doctor before starting treatment. I had also contacted GlaxoSmithKline about AVODART and got the following response. ???You have asked an important question about AVODART?? (dutasteride). We encourage you to discuss medical concerns and symptoms with the appropriate healthcare provider. Your healthcare provider is in the best position to answer your question.??? Although, I would be consulting my Doctor but any other additional feedback would be helpful. Should I quit Avodart? Thanks

Exercising ??“ 4 Weeks Post Procedure ??“ IS SWEATING AN ISSUE? I have started exercising 4 weeks after my procedure. (5700 grafts). A 60 minute workout which includes jogging, stepper and 30 minutes of weight training. My recipient and donor area are perfectly fine and healed. I try to ensure that no extra pressure is put on the donor area, however sometimes, (for a sec or two); a slight pain occurs in the donor area, while exercising but it goes away immediately. So I try and not repeat that particular exercise. I hope this does not lead to a wider scar. I am more concerned about the sweating part. Though the gym is air-conditioned, I have the tendency to sweat and keep patting a towel on my recipient area. I hope this does not damage the transplanted grafts.

I had 5700 grafts. Started exercising 4 weeks after the procedure. (Last week) One hour regime. 30 minutes stepper and rest some weight training with normal weights. Feels quite OK, expect that sometimes the donor area feels a little itchy but still it has healed well. But I am concerned about the sweating part. I hope the recepient area does not suffer due to the sweat.

Indian Balding..... Now that is a very strong statement. How do you substantiate it? After all there are many people out there taking Avodart. Are you saying that hair loss can be stopped or reversed by taking some other drug? Think Again.

So when does one start sleeping normally on a single pillow. (Post Surgery) I noticed that the tightness in the donor area increases by sleeping in the normal position. Logically, the scalp will take more than 4 weeks to totally heal so should one continue with 2-3 pillows till the tightness reduces?

Thanks for your valuable feedback. It has been almost 4 weeks post surgery and my scalp still feels very tight. I am fine with the numbness as it is not too much of a botheration but the tightness sometimes gets nasty and especially during the night time. I noticed that the tightness increases if I sleep on a single pillow for 1-2 nights and decreases if 3-4 pillows are concerned. I still feel quite uncomfortable at night. I was wondering if this has anything to do with the number of grafts i.e. a big session. I had 5700 grafts. I am not complaining about the doctor as I have a lot of faith in his abilities but it's just that the tightness in the donor area does not reduce and so I am concerned. I just want the tightness to reduce so that I can start having a sound sleep.

Those of you who have had surgeries, it will be nice if you kindly share your experiences. I understand that the tightness could vary on a patient to patient basis and also depend on the other factors like length and breadth of the strip etc. But a general idea would be nice. Tightness is not bothersome if it does not lead to pain. Could this be caused by the scalp healing process or other factors? I am just waiting for this tightness to reduce and pain to go away. The tightness is so much better, I mean, lesser. The Problem I believe is the sleeping position. I started sleeping on 3-4 pillows again and the tightness has really gone down. Earlier, I used a single pillow for 2-3 days and that led to the extra tightness. Dr. Hasson says that the head should be kept failry above the heart so that it doesn't get extra blood supply. That advice really helped. I would recommend to us 3-4 pillows for 2-3 weeks, till he head feels better with less tightness.

Just came back from the clinic. Dr. Hasson had a good look at my donor area and says that it is heaaling very nicely. I got my staples removed on the 7th day post surgery. The doc was pretty impressed with the scalp laxity as I had done a lot of scalp exercises. If it is a matter of 1-2 weeks of tightness, I am fine with that. By the way, does sleeping posture have any effect on the tightness? From last few days, I have only been using one pillow. What would be the best posture to sleep for maximum healing and less dis-comfort?

I have just had a mega-session with Dr. Hason (5710 grafts) and feel a lot of tighness in the scalp. Especially during the night time, the tightness increases as I struggle to sleep. Also, most of my scalp is dead an I cannot feel anything at all. I am very concerned and wondering when would the tighness subside. I can live with the numbness but the tightness gets very uncomfortable. Since the surgery, I haven't been able to sleep on my back as the donor area hurts. Wondering if this is a normal occurence.

No point talking about top surgeons, if you can't afford them. If budget is a problem, then you need to find a "cheap" doc. You only get one shot at it dude so you know what I mean. God Bless.

But believe me; this guy is getting some raving reviews from many of his past clients. He has openly given my countless numbers of his patients and asked me to meet them and see the results themselves. This friend of mine, who is a big time businessman and can afford anything under the sun, even went to him and is pretty satisfied. I did pop up the question of his reputation to Dr. Sajjad Khan and he said that he didn't give a hoot as he had enough successful stories and live clients. Then this guy I met through the forum also got his transplant done from Dr. Khan. He also had all praises for him. These are both educated guys. Have you posted any of your pictures when the surgery went wrong? And who finally fixed your hair? Thanks

Hi Bill, I have been doing my research on Dr. Sajjad Khan since the last few months. I do admit that one cannot find much information about him on the web but like any other traditional doctor; he does not seem to rely much on the internet. I have spoken to him a couple of times and he performs surgeries in Dubai. Two of my friends in Dubai have recently got their transplants from Dr. Sajjad Khan and have nothing but all praises for him and his team. They have met many of his patients in Dubai and very satisfied. I have also been provided with some phone number of his patients and told to meet them in person and get their opinion. I guess this is the best way to gauge the skills of a doctor rather than looking at before and after pictures of patients on a doc's site. I am not sure if you guys are aware of the Indian Film Industry, Bollywood; Dr. Khan claims that he has performed amazing transplants for almost half of the actors in the Industry. Banning same users from similar I.P definitely raises a bell but I can get an I.P blocker and post a few positive reviews on Dr. Sajjad Khan. Would that help? Maybe some dumb staff member of Dr. Khan did that and got caught. And out of 500 surgeries, one could go wrong. It does not entirely depend upon the surgeon but varies from patient to patient. Wot say? It would be nice if some genuine patients of Dr. Sajjad Khan post their feedback. After all, it's not very difficult to tarnish the image of a doctor by adopting some clever web strategies. I have only come across one odd patient on this forum who claims that his transplant was messed up by Dr. Khan. Are there any more patients out there who have had transplants from Dr. Sajjad Khan and can prove with reasonable evidence that he is not fit to perform transplants? And what about patients who have had successful transplants from Dr. Sajjad Khan in Dubai? Please speak up.

Guess What Guys? After having done all my research, I have finally decided to go ahead with Dr. Sajjad Khan. If anyone of you really has some convincing proof of why he should not be considered, please feel free to share. Cheers! I have substantial evidence that proves that he is a top doc but those of you who are trying to defame him, please support your allegation with solid evidence.

forgive whom andwhat for? By the way rem that khan does procedures in a hospital and no one knows where he is off after the surgery whereas other docs have thief own clinics and work under strict medical laws. Imp point to consider
