  1. Thanks RockZ. Pls keep me posted. Good luck to you as well!
  2. First of all, I want to thank all of you here for sharing your knowledge and information about HT over the years. I've been a regular to this forum for over two years. Without the inputs from you guys, I would still have been skeptical about the viability of HT while suffering the chronic agony of seeing my hair go away day by day. Background 29-old-male with Asian (East Asian) who has experienced hair loss since 21(?) Been on rogaine every day since 21 and finasteride every other day since 26 (avoiding the full dosage for fear of side effects in the long run). Family pattern: Dad as well as my 5 uncles from both the paternal and maternal sides started experiencing hair loss in their twenties and with no exception all had a hair line that reached their crowns before or around 40. I'm one of those guys who has been told since I was a child not to dread over losing hair when i grow up as it's a CERTAINTY that it will happen to me.... HT Scheduled on 5/31 with Dr. Feller Want to share my own experience here by way of giving back to the community, and especially to provide another data point for Asian males suffering from hair loss as there hasn't been too many Asians sharing their HT experience in this forum Pre-op thoughts I'll be traveling from out of state to see the doc which means I wouldn't be available for a physical consultation prior to the procedure. However, with the helpful emails from the staff (Sharon) and others who have shared their experience with Dr. Feller here, I think I'll be in good hands. That said, I was wondering if there are other patients with an Asian descent who have had HT with Dr. Feller willing to share their experience here? In particular, how did the pre-op consultation go on the day of the procedure? What are the MUSTs I should ask and/or let the doc and his team know to ensure they have all the info needed to perform a successful op on me? Any Asian-hair specific concerns that should be voiced out? Thank you for your input
  3. Thanks all. You guys are very helpful. I'm newly registered to this forum but have been reading posts here for over a year. I'm a 26 yo and have been using Rogaine 5% since 21 and Procerin tablets since 23. I took a 3 month break from Rogaine in early 2008 because I was suspecting Rogaine was not working on me as my hairline was still receding to the point it was really noticeable. But soon after i stopped, i noticed my hair losing even faster. I went back to Rogaine afterwards and felt like the speed with which hair is losing slowed down but the hairline that has receded during the break did not recover. I went to see Dr Feller last month for his opinions on hair-transplant. He suggested me to try Propecia before going down the HT route. So I have been reading extensively over the past month and is now at the juncture of whether to try or not. At this point, i have a few questions and hope some of you can share what you think. 1) Propecia is pricey to me. Is the generic finasteride/procecia like the one manufactured in India/Japan identical and equally effective? 2) I have read about many guys who write about their terrible experience of using propecia after an extended period. Does anyone have a view on what kind of worst case consequence a guy could possibly face after using this drug for 5, 7, or 10 yrs? I know FDA doesn't really look at such a long horizon in their clinical trial so would like to hear any true stories from some of you. The site i used to go to a lot before i discovered this forum is (http://www.askdocweb.com). There is where i've found many negative user feedbacks on propecia. 3) On the sexual side effects of finasteride, does anyone know whether that would cause any troubles when you want to have a kid? I heard that most of the external symtoms would go away once you stop using the drug but im curious to find out how long the drug would stay in our system or cause any irrevocable changes to the reproductive system? Has anyone thought about storing or have stored their sperm sample in a sperm bank for future use, just to be on the safe side? And what's the procedure? Some of the questions may seem weird...but they have been hovering over my head for a while. Hope you can share your views.
