  1. Ive also been wondering about "shock loss" I admit that is why I came on here today. I am 9 days out from my 2nd HT and I am curious as well. My questions are also surrounding shock loss. I wasn't sure if the loss was due to existing hairs being damaged/cut during the HT, or if the loss is due to new donor sites taking blood from surrounding hairs so the existing hair doesn't survive. I am in the same boat as you when it comes to wanting answers. I feel stupid since I've already had 1 HT and don't remember much about shock loss before. I just remember being thin all over and after 4-5 months it started coming in. Every time I hold my head over the sink and lightly brush my hair with my fingers I am seeing hairs falling out. I am taking propecia and I know from experience that helps, but I don't know how it affects shock loss. I am going to post a similar shock loss question in the Dr.'s forum.
  2. It sounds like from the 2800 and the recent 1500 your most likely stacked up pretty well. Thats a lot of little guys to move around, so although we want every single one to survive there is typically some collateral damage. Knowing that you have typically extra FUs from the two Hts you will still come out a head. I wouldn't worry too much about a little one that is waiting to sprout. They can take quite a number of months to go off. How long a go was your first HT? I too just had my second done late this month, so I know how it feels to want EVERY graph to thrive.
  3. I agree with NW that keeping what you have is where it's at. Rogaine sucks. That stuff is weak! Propecia on the other hand is strong, maybe even too strong, so that's why I take only a 1/2 or 1/3 a day. It helps my dick stay harder, and I feel like I'm saving $$$ and getting the same results when it comes to hair loss. Your gonna continue to grow and loose hair, I just think the Propecia helps with the ratio (growth to loss)that we as men who want to keep their hair need. I believe if I would have started taking Propecia at an earlier age I would not have ever had to have a HT. I hope that helps.
  4. My hair like many is thicker in the back than front. This is essentially why we get a HT. The good thing is is that your thick hair will (at least appear) bring density to the front, at least it did for me. I imagine if you have fine, thin, flat hair that you won't get the excellent results vs. the guy with the thick hair. Good luck!
  5. Thank you for the helpful info. I think the answer I was looking for came when I read the portion in the response about the Aussie Dr. who found transplanted hairs to be sprouting even after 18 months. I guess I am finding NEW hairs each week(not as much), but was trying to figure out at what point all of my transplanted hair will have shown itself. I now understand that even at the one year mark it is common to still see new hairs coming in. I didn't know they could go into a rest phase for so long. Am I correct in thinking this way? So I have many more months of new growth to look forward to?
  6. Ron You are right this was my first procedure. I had hoped that in doing one large amount (1800) that I may be able to do just this one session. I find 2000 to be common these days, so I guess it really wasn't that huge. I am aware of the long wait to see initial results, but I feel like the new hairs are not really coming in like they were at the 4 month mark. Should I expect not much more new hair, but the thickening of the fresh transplanted hairs? I gather this (the thickening) is as you explained also important for final results. Thanks for the response!
  7. I had 1800 done about 5 months ago. I am still seeing new hairs poping up here and there, but I am curious as to when FINAL results are in. I imagine differences for each person, but there must be some point where a transplanted hair is either going to come out or they (the new hairs) are basicall done. What would be an approx. time frame to see "final results" ( one yr, 7 months, 2yrs, etc...?) Any experienced HTs please advise.

  9. Thanks Gary. The reason I ask is because I just had 1880 graphs done and I am trying to determine if that is a lot vs the norm these days. My hopes were to do just one big session so I went for alot, but I am starting to find that this amount is possibly typical in many of todays HTs. What has you experience been?
  10. I was curious to hear what the average number of graphs you are preforming on patients these days. Clearly we have seen new technology with improved surgical equiptment resulting in increased numbers of FUs. I was wondering the most you have ever done, and the typical amount you encounter these days (despite cost)? Thank You.
  11. I truely appreciate you responding to my posting. The sore I mentioned has actually gone down significantly and is 90% healed. Right now I am in a lonnnnggggg waiting fase, which I am wondering if any hair is going to come out at all. How long was it from when your procedure was done to when you had hair coming in? It has been 7 weeks since my HT and I have seen no results. Is this normal? Thanks once again! Oliver
  12. I had a HT about 6 weeks ago (1880 FUs) and I have a question for anyone with knowledge regarding sores coming up from "hairs trying to get out". I was instructed to poke these small sores w a needle to release the blood that is under. This has been rare and I have only had to do this about 5 times. The problem is that I have one small area about the size of a beebee that is in one location, and won't go away! I have tried to pop it, but my concern is that it feels hard underneath the skin and wont crack, almost like a mini graph that is just simply trapped under the surface. No where else on my head does it feel like this spot everything else seems fine. What should I do about this beebee, and has anyone else had healing experinces they can share?
