  1. I'm a pretty average Joe, and don't really consider myself vain. But, having this operation was the best money, by far, I have ever spent in my life. It was about $13,000, and worth 10X that. I got rid of that *(&%*)&^ hairpiece I hated, and never have to think about my head again. I thought I looked freakish being talll skinny and bald without the piece. Now, I'm not like Stalin or anything, but very, very happy with the results. Make no mistake -- choosing the right doctor is 100% of this whole thing! 2. I understand your point - it's very responsible for you to think about it. I'm not anti-drug for most things by any means. I'm just super cautious for meds like Propecia that will be taken for 40+ years for the patient, and for soon-to-be parents. My mother-in-law took an rx drug, which didn't affect her. But, as a direct result, my wife had to have a circlage (stitched up her uterus) and be on complete bed rest for 6 months with each of our 4 kids. I understand that our 3 daughters have a chance of having problems as well, in addition to increased risks of clear cell cancer. All a result of a generation back taking something that was approved. 3. As an outsider reading this whole thing - it's pretty obvious to me that you guys are way out there in terms of medical and business practices. What possible incentive do you have defending yourself in this forum? What's it going to get you? The only thing it's doing is setting you up to get nailed in court. You haven't been able to get one person to see your side, and you're too stubborn to realize that you were the only doc (that I know off) to be banned from the site -- something I'm sure Pat does not take lightly at all. Make a decent business decision and realize that it looks to most everyone that he got butchered and give him a refund - it'll save you a fortune - and everyone can move on. Oh, by the way, look into getting into the landscaping business where rusty pickaxes and chainsaws are commonplace. 4. Don't Do It at your age! And, don't pick some place cause it looks good to you. Research on this forum and choose one of the 4-6 great docs in the whole country who are good. My Pix and Hair Mentor page with advice on Choosing a Doc, anti-swelling and healing advice
  5. I was thrilled with Epstein out of Miami. My Pix and Hair Mentor page with advice on Choosing a Doc, anti-swelling and healing advice
  6. Holy crap! I am so sorry you had those results - what a hack! I can't believe you are 10 months out. I know there are great docs out there who can do some good repairing. It seems like there are about 4-5 great ones max (all in America that I know of though). Thanks for posting and keeping any newbies informed to make sure they choose the right doc. 7. Ma- My last post for you until you show you're holding up your end. I posted this to you weeks ago, and similar - nicer stuff weeks before that and weeks before that too. So has everyone else - all have done their best to help. Do your part and show you are actually doing something about it (and that you are not a Troll), and you can get some more great advice here. -- I know just about anything can be repaired to a degree. If you're not completely butchered, I'm sure a good doc can do great. See this link for my doc - it's all repair jobs, and many were certain to be worse off than you. http://www.foundhair.com/pages/GalleryRepair.asp Foremost, though!!! Are you listening and acting on the advice and opinions everyone is giving you? I know there has been a great deal of it, but i honestly can't see any difference between your first post and your 100th. Please do yourself a favor and take some action. Regretting the past won't get you anywhere, and repeating the same things will only diminish the number of quality responses from people in this forum. 8. EH? If you mean anest. you must go with a local. Dr. Epstein used a 'wand' to deliver it, and I felt a couple very small pinpricks, followed by nothing at all. If you are talking drugs to stimulate growth, etc. There are several recommended including Rogaine, Graftcyte, etc. (see my link below). The thing with these is they are short term, and not a big committment. BTW - yes, you can look great. Especially if you have graying hair. And, after 5 months or so, the strip scar (in my case) was completely invisible without actively looking for it a foot away. 9. Check out the tips I've picked up on the link below. I believe jotronic has a routine too. My Pix and Hair Mentor page with advice on Choosing a Doc, anti-swelling and healing advice
  10. Tberry Sounds like mine - I'd personally going with as many as your doc feels comfortable giving you. I had about 2,200 done the first time. While great, it wasn't enough and I went back for 2,200 more (that was 4 mos ago). My Pix and Hair Mentor page with advice on Choosing a Doc, anti-swelling and healing advice

  12. Dai- Looks great for July. You'll be surprised at the difference just over the next month. Then (I understand cause I had a second at 6 monts), 7 months and 1 year are big ones. I think you'll be very happy in the end. I was about the same as you in the beginning. I'm still on Toppik, and would recommend it. Now that my 2nd HT is growing in from Aug, I'll be dropping the Toppik in another month or two, or slowly cutting back. But, it does wonders for when you are out in direct sunlight. 13. Get on Rogaine if you are not. It speeds things up big time. When growing in for te first time, they are thin and pointed - not thick and stubby like you shaved it off and it regrew. My Pix and Hair Mentor page with advice on Choosing a Doc, anti-swelling and healing advice
  14. He'll never write you back. It could never benefit him, and only harm him for any action. If I was maliciously butchered, I'd definitely seek action. Signing the papers never excuses a doc or company from flagerantly doing something wrong - otherwise they could chop your ears off and hide behind the contract. Time, money, effort and the possible outcome are another story. If you go out just to get back at them by trashing their name, I'd say be very careful. If they have big pockets they could come after you. The one thing I know is the truth is a perfect defense. So, maybe keep it to something like - My surgery was with this doc and here are my pix. Stay away from anything too slanted and let readers make their own opinion. If they see the pix, it will be the same whether you go overboard trashing him, or giving the true basics. 15. I lost 90%+ of my originally transplanted FU's. But the other 5-10% seemed to stay at their original length then grow after a month or so. My first completely new ones seemed to be few at 2 1/2 months. One thing I'm certain that helped the speed of them coming in was Rogaine like my doc said to use. I was slick bald and it was easy to apply for my 1st HT so I did 2X per day, and they really started coming in pretty quickly. After the second HT, I had a lot of hair from my 1st, and the Rogaine wasn't as easy to do - so I only did it every once in a while. THis grow in has been slower. 17. The absolute minimum is 6 months, with 1 year preferred. I was 6 mos, which was my docs minimum -- due to personal timing issues. If you do it earlier (and even at 6 mos) you risk transectiing and destroying FUs from the first op that have not yet surfaced. My advice now? Try to do as many as possible the first time and get it over with. My Pix and Hair Mentor page with advice on Choosing a Doc, anti-swelling and healing advice
  18. Nike- Sorry I missed your original post. First things first - do NOT get a hairpiece. Believe me , it sucks and will forever more. I'm thrilled with my HT, but many might say 21 is early. Best of luck. Joe My Pix and Hair Mentor page with advice on Choosing a Doc, anti-swelling and healing advice
  19. At early NW1 - I don't think any reputable doc would work on you. There would only be expense, and definite need for more later on. Don't get me wrong, it can definitely be done, and many have, but medication would be a better solution for now - in my opinion. My Pix and Hair Mentor page with advice on Choosing a Doc, anti-swelling and healing advice
  20. Do it - But concentrate on the front. I still have a thin crown, but would rather sacrifice that and have a strong front. The second HT is coming in, and I can envision how thick it will be. I can't tell you how cool it is to not have that hairpiece, or even have to think about it. You'll definitely need a second - but do it with one of the top guys to do it right. Anyone recommending 500, 700 whatever, is a quack. My Pix and Hair Mentor page with advice on Choosing a Doc, anti-swelling and healing advice
  21. at NW 6-7, 2000 isn't going to be enough. I was in the same boat (late 5-6) and did 2,200 my first time. At 6 months, I was pretty happy, but borderline. So, I went with 2,200 more - now I'm 3 months out of #2 and will be very - very happy if things keep up the way they were. 22. Don't know for sure, but maybe if you are being too agressive you are rubbing off the scabs too early every time and they are re-healing. Maybe give it a break for a week then do the above. My Pix and Hair Mentor page with advice on Choosing a Doc, anti-swelling and healing advice
  23. htgt I had two each of 2,200 FU with Epstein. While the second seemed tighter at first, I'm 3 months from that one, it's totally lax now and no loss of feeling anywhere. The only odd thing is if I scratch the crown of my head, I can feel in in the donor area (kind of). My Pix and Hair Mentor page with advice on Choosing a Doc, anti-swelling and healing advice
  24. As a guess- I'd say it's ingrown hair clump that hasn't broken the surface. If the skin's been totally broken, and it's still there after a week, I'd say an infection. Call the doc to be sure. My Pix and Hair Mentor page with advice on Choosing a Doc, anti-swelling and healing advice
  25. Your swelling and other symptoms seem typical. At 6 days, all of this should be at the peak, and get better from here. But, the price for 700 units is way high unless it was FUE. I did 4400 strip FU for about $13,000. I all likelihood, you'll need more units after that. I'd do some more shopping and read posts on this site.
