  1. I've heard really good things about Dr. Siporin. He is in Los Angeles & Beverly Hills. I saw his work done on someone and it looked great...couldn't even tell. I met with him too and is was very curtious and seemed very professional. I did not have anything done...just a consultation.
  2. Hello Everyone: I've read that too much vitamin A can contribute to hair loss. Can anyone tell me if Retin A or products with Retinol in them is considered a "Vitamin A" product? I use Retin A and these types products for my skin and have for years. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
  3. Hello everyone...WOW...a lot of information on the laser comb. Thank you. I don't think I'll feel so worried quitting it. Someone wrote the following: For woman propecia rogaine spiro are the best ways to get hair back if possible I don't know what "spiro" is? Can someone tell me what this is. I have a prescription for propecia, but I'm afraid to start taking it so I'm taking an herbal DHT blocker. Is propecia the way to go? Is finestriade (spelling) the same as propecia only cut-up to save money. The propecia I got was quite expensive. In summary: What does this gentleman mean by "spiro" and should I take the propecia? Thank you!
  4. I am a female and wrote back in March about my hair issues. Shortly after that, I began taking some kind of herbal DHT blocker, rogaine twice a day faithfully and a Hairmax laser comb 3x per week. I must say, I've noticed a big difference in my hair and am feeling much much better. The reason I'm writing though is because I'm sick of using the laser comb. The packaging says it takes about 15 minutes but in reality to do it properly, takes about 25 minutes on my head. I'm afraid to stop using it though, because since I started using all these "fixes" at the same time, I'm not quite sure what is working and what isn't. I won't quit the rogaine, but does anyone have any comments about my regimen (about the laser comb...). Thanks!
  5. Are there any drugs that women can take to stop the hair loss like you guys have? Can women take the Revita or Finistra (not sure if spelled properly). I am 46 years old and will NOT be having any more children so that should not be a factor here. I'm happy to see a couple of other women posting here. Any advice?

  7. I saw Dr. Kabaker today. He told me "not to worry" which made me feel much better. He told me that although he wasn't "impressed" by the donor hair in the back of my head that he felt that the top and sides of my head were thicker and he would most likely take from the sides anyway for my temple area. At any rate, I have decided that I am going to sit on this information for a while before making any decisions. I'm lucky to still have a full head of hair and no one notices my problem areas except for me. I'm weighing the benefits (of just pleasing myself) as opposed to any possible damage that might occur from doing an HT. I'm a woman though....and I might change my mind.
  8. Thanks Dr. Beehner. I just posted on another site about the Rogaine. You've answered my question here. I'm using all over my head since my appt last week. I will update after my visit with Dr. Kabaker.
  9. I have been using Rogaine at my temples for several years. However, after going to the doctor, I now know that I have miniturization at the back of my head as well. I've been applying the Rogaine to basically my entire head now for the last week (which is a total pain). After reading some old posts, now I'm worried and wondering if I should be doing that. Should I be applying to my entire head or just my temple area? Maybe I should just skip it altogether? Any advice?

  11. Thanks everyone for your help. To Dr Beehner: My doctor did say that he thought I might be happy for ten years or so and that he would place the terminal hairs and the front of my temples and then feather in the more miniturized hairs as he goes back. Of course, he could not guarantee any results. I want to add that I've had the "triangle" at both sides of my temples for many years and they have very slowly progressed. I do have a very full head of hair at this time (and hopefully in the future as well). I have started using Rogaine and am taking an herbal DHT blocker. Don't know if it will help, but I'm willing to try anything. I wish I could determine what started this for me. My mother and both sisters have extremely fine and thin hair. I was blessed with extremely thick hair and am dumbfounded as to why this is happening. Anyhow, I have a second Dr. appt with Dr. Kabaker on Monday for a second opinion. I very scared to go...not sure if I want to hear more bad news. I hope to make a decision after that appt.
  12. I am new to forum. I saw a very reputable doctor yesterday in Los Angeles. I have receding at my temples so I went in to inquire about a HT to those areas. Upon inspection, he indicates that I have about 30% or so miniturazation in the donor area. I'm very scared and am now thinking "am I going to go completely bald"? I have more questions. Has anyone with similiar problem had a HT that can offer me some insight. He says he can do the HT but can offer no guarantee on how long it would last. Also, how long to miniturazized hairs last and how fast does it progress? Is it normal for a woman at age 46 to have hair miniturazation. These are questions I forgot to ask the doctor. Any help is appreciated.
