  1. just because there is a doctor from thailand that is recommended here doesn't mean that he is better than the doctor who invented FUE!!! ...and since he is in Australia he should check him out he doesnt have to travel the world just yet...
  2. dont worry it happens and i have heard it from other patient stories as well...good luck on your growth, who was your doc? Will you show us pics
  3. The thailand doctor i have never heard of him so i dont know. good luck in your research
  4. to me it looks you have extensive hairloss, the crown still holds though...the sides look like nw6. Listen the fact that you have clear balding area and you are not a diffuse thinner means that you rely on the transplant only and not your native hair. transplants might look very nice in pictures but you have to go and see patients in person with hairloss like yours to determnine if you like what you see. In certain lights and in some angles transplants look very thin and somehow unnatural in my opinion that is something you cannot see in pictures. for some people that is much better than being totally bald.If you are one of these people then go for it. My personal opinion is that you need a lot of grafts to have a transplant that look descent more than 4000 grafts for sure and hoping that your crown will hold but without propecia thats difficult if you are destined to be nw6, if you want full density i think it will never happen buzz them down very short and live with it until something better comes along.
  5. Hi again the best way to meet people with transplants is to ask the doctor of your choise to meet actual patients. Which ones are available or even find some people through these forums that are willing to meet with you. There might be showcases or consultants but they are mostly the best results by far not your average patient. the fact that you have sideeffects with propecia is very unfortunate as i mentioned above. how is your genetics, bald people in your family older than you (dad, granddads etc) it can give you an indication of where you are heading to. Some pictures where you could show us your current hair situation from many angles could help so that we can offer more opinions.
  6. Hi and wellcome to the forums. I am so glad that you came here first and not to Bosley. Still though... Bosley has bad reoutation through the years but you could be somehow lucky and fall in the chair of a good doctor there. But you dont sound like the guy who likes to take chances...if you research enough the whole hair transplantation thing its all about taking chances. What all try to do here is to minimize the chances of a bad result by going to a doctor that takes care of you and does the right thing. You have to know some basic things since you sound worried and uneducated on this whole thing . A hair transplant outcome depends on two things the doctor and you. the first part is about the doctor and how good is he, how involved is he in the process, how good is his tech team, and how he will decide to deal with your case. the second part is you. Your hair charactersitics, your body and how it reacts to the procedure But the most important part is how you control the future of your hairloss. And there is only one thing right now that can do that and thats propecia...Given your medical condition i have no clue if you should take propecia or not but even if you take it you have to know that there are hundernds of people in these forums that complain about some kind of sideeffect. So exhausting your body more in the condition you are in sounds like a bad idea. You will see many nice pictures and many happy customers but you also need to see as many patients in person as you can because pictures can be misleading. The basic problem with hair transplantation is the donor supply issue. Our donor doesnt have enough grafts to plant on the recipient in case we end up nw6 or nw7. There are some rare cases where people can have 7000-10000 grafts transplant but still most of us mortals cannot go to these numbers. to summarize the more native hair you have the better and more natural your transplant will look. The better you respond to propecia the better your transplnt will hold through the years and you wont have to go under the chair ever so often. Emergency exits in case things dont go as planned:If you go strip you wont be able to buzz them down and forget this whole thing. If you go FUE depending on how small the punch used you might be able to buzz them down and it wont be so noticable. Downtimes: Healing can take a long time and your scalp might be red and then pink. I ve heard of people that their scalp was pinkish for as long as 6 months. The transplanted hair grow and mature for a long time after the transplant. a full result should be expected between 12-18 months. Your transplanted hair are in the beginning wiry and hard to style but through the years mature and become more manageable and look more natural...but that takes time. Worst case scenarioAssuming your doctor did everything right)Propecia doesnt work or you have to stop it and you continue balding and you chase your hairloss with transplants and multiple procedures. If your genetics point to nw7(rare) you are screwed especially if you go with strip. Strip vs FUE: Strip has better success rates and is preferred for people with large blading areas. It leaves a smiley scar though and is a more serious procedure than FUE. some people report scalp tension and lose of feeling in the donor area which takes time to heal. FUE might have lower yields but its a less invasive procedure in the right hands and you can buzz your hair short if something goes wrong without having a smiley scar on your back. good luck you will hear many good advices here but dont think that we are your best bet. Unfortunately you have to do your own research and see things with your own eyes because we are people that you dont know and you cant be sure who is behind the computer and whats his agenda. I for one some say that i am anti transplant . I like to think that i dont like to take chances and i am cautious. Stay around this place has many interesting characters and you will enjoy doing your research...but its not so easy as asking you have to stick around and watch the show. Peace bro
  7. none is kicking up dirt thats all in your head. And noone created a riot...unless u think that to police opinions like the moderator of another site its the way to go. Its another thing what this thread was created about and you are taking it somewhere else. real concerns for me dont have to go privately because this forum wouldnt need to exist and we could all PM each other...and maybe that way you could give your opinion to me privately so that we could avoided the so called drama that you describe...still you didnt anyway you made your point and i totally disagree with it so wont take it into ccount
  8. Lost, With all due respect I tend to disagree about this "toughening up" stuff. Most adults do not come to a hair transplant board to be insulted. They come because of a serious issue effecting their lives. They often are opening themselves up in a somewhat vulnerable position (including posting bad pictures of themselves) seeking advice. If this board ever becomes about "toughening up" to personal insults (thankfully Bill and Pat make sure that isn't the case) then many people will go elsewhere. The internet is a place for some people to express their anger in a way that they would not do in person usually. That is why we have the term "internet tough guy". I have seen that it is often the same exact guys on sports message boards that often have trouble or get banned from many different boards because they can not deal with other posters respectfully. Shouldn't we treat other posters with the same respect on this board as you would if you were looking at them eye to eye? I'm only one person but I do speak to many people on this board and I know that some of them often choose not to speak at times because they do not want to be personally attacked. Personal attacks do not have a place on a hair transplant message-board in my opinion. If you do not like a doctors results than be critical of the results but insulting other posters only because they hold a different point of view is going over the line in my opinion. Exactly! If a friend of mine said he did his research and scheduled a surgery with one of the top-5 doctors in the industry, I would not post pictures of NW-7 and try to scare him with "what if" questions. I would not question the integrity of the doctor he chose. I would absolutely not be trying to instil doubts, but rather encouraging him and wishing him well. I totally agree about the internet tough guy phenomenon. Maybe I didnt read all the posts before, but I have recently noticed an uptick in the agression and hostility. It is as if this is spillover from HLH which is no longer relevant. The mighty armani has been exposed, now is seems some malcontents are aiming at other doctors who have a huge record of success. I think there are guys who are NW6/7, who maybe dont have the money or follicular resources for a good HT, or maybe they were disfigured by a bad surgeon, and they take this negativity out on other posters. Advanced Norwoods are getting good HTs these days from the right clinics. Its really beyond me how you try to parallelize the post of wantego with what i said on Drew's thread? You say.. exactly!... and then you talk about my post. drew seemed to understand dr. Wong seemed to understand but you simply dont get it. Now i just want to say because i geard about PGP that once i had a big fight with him and he honestly started creeping me out but i am smart enough to understand when someone offers a lot to this community. Even then... i wouldnt change PGP for 100 smooth talking posters. But thats just me and this place needs everyone to respect everybody and talk an a civil manner.
  9. I wish you the best my friend and everything to go well for you and to be happy as you deserve to be. Now when you go for surgery i am waiting from you to read one of these looooong posts about your surgery day and how it all went Make sure you read the famous Spex post about what to do before the surgery day and all the right preparations for a smooth experience. best wishes
  10. Drew one last thing because this thing is getting tiring for me and if you want to take it in consideration take it if not through it in the bin. If propecia gives you sideefects and you have to stop it then according to your family history you will most propably end up nw7. that means that if your strip goes with in the nw7 area, at the sides, it will become obvious one day and your donor will thin eventaully so will your transplanted hair. be very carefull and make sure that you can handle propecia because it will be the most important factor in the success of the transplant .your doctor is one of the best for patients with advanced hairloss but if your donor betrays you then noone will be able to save the result and trust me there is no strategic planning or whatever for someone that ends up nw7. there is always future risks but at least minimize the risks now by at least giving a shot at propecia for a year to see that everything is well. Peace
  11. I know its drew head and i want to be supportive on his decision but there are some concerns in this case that we dont get an answer we just hear "i am sure they have a plan if he turns nw7"... What i am asking is what this plan is?Does it include the strip being taken further down the nw7 area because i have never seen a strip going down the nw7 area!I know the patient will start propecia for maintaining the sides but what happens IN CASE he has side effects and needs to stop it?the donor will thin and the hairloss will progress will the scar still be invisible in that case? Wouldnt the safest road be to try propecia for some time to see that he handles it well? Drew i am sorry mate for being so concernfull and raising these issues but you are about to start a long journey and you are plannign on three to four surgeries based on the fact that propecia will save your donor since your family history is w7...it would be far easier to say good luck and dont worry and such...propably a response from the clinic about the plan would put enquiring minds at ease honestly am i the only one that sees a flaw in this plan because i see most here are just supportive. if drew plans on full coverage with 3 to 4 surgeries on a donor that he knows that will end up on the nw7 scale isnt it just logical to first stay on the drug for some time to see how he handles it... how he responds to it for heavens shake, just because there is an opening he has to rushed into it???I am starting to feel like an alien lol(PGP where is our spaceship?)
  12. i dont want to rain on anyones parade but what happens in case you develop unwanted sideeffects from propecia and you have to stop it? will your scar remain beyond the limit of the nw7 area just in case, what did dr.wong say? Why you dont try first propecia for a year to make sure you handle it well and then decide on a surgery?
  13. You are confusing the posts, thats why you misunderstood to put it simply...almost everyone knows that the inventor of FUE is a doctor which we cannot mention his name here(i dont know why...i dont like it...iam wondering why not... but thats another thing)...if you research for this doctor(hint:he is in australia) and if you ask other people on other forums you will see that he is the inventor of FUE. All the above is for people not to be mislead...it seems that almost everyone wants to claim that he invented FUE or renames it or whatever to take credit and appear as the leading specialist.Thats misleading and you had to know it for your education thats why i mentioned it. Ofcourse that doesnt mean that the inventor is the best doctor for this procedure...thats for you to judge after you research the FUE doctors. I understand that you are impressed with Dr.Rassmans assessments but his assessment that he is responsible for beginning the procedures of FUE's is unimpressive.
  14. Bayday i understand when you give us the link of Rassmans opinion but the second link of his biography is not needed. Also you state that he is responsible for beginning the procedures of FUE that is not so. Maybe you are mislead I do not want to offend you or anything and this thread should stay on topic i just made an observation. I agree though with Rassmans view about being sceptical and that proper studies are needed. But on the other hand these studies cost millions for something that propably cannot be patented so that only one doctor can offer it, so why should Greco pay millions of dollars for clinical trials and studies that may or might not lead to an FDA approval for something that any doctor can perform after since he cannot patent this technology? I am not in any way taking Greco's side (especially after these photos lol) but things are not black or white they usually are grey...i dont think is that easy to demand these clinical results as Rassmans does for this particular method.
  15. hey i also saw this on another forum, i was a bit excited since i am one of the guys that cannot use propecia and it sounds in theory ike a good alternative to propecia. I have to say i am sceptical as we all are but the fact that Dr. Feller believes in it makes me more excited. It sounds like a simple thing for a doctor to perform as well. All we need is volunteers that will under go the process and a doctor to follow the progress. BUT these pictures are worthless in my opinion like many of the transplant pictures that we see from clinics. The most funny thing is how the hair colour changes from before to afters, i find this hilariously misleading and i ve seen it from clinics that supposedly warn patients all the time about how misleading photos can be lol. I have to admit when i see pictures like these in treatments, transpants or whatever i always think ...scam... they are trying to fool us.but lets wait and see...
  16. Lol as if they have to buy this tool. There are many so called superior tools for FUE...heck if they are serious about doing business they can even create one from scratch and advertise that they invented the best tool for FUE ever.I know of a greek clinic who invented such a tool and they were the talk of the forums years ago... and another thing its hard for good doctors to adapt a tool from another doctor, that instantly means that the doctor who created it is superior to the one that bought it. but in this case the tool is not something ground breaking if it cannot make obsolete strip procedures. We need a tool that a doctor will take and say thats it "no need for stripping patients i am not afraid of low yield and damaging the grafts because now its highely unlikely to happen with my super tool."lol That will be the groundbreaking tool in my opinion, but what the heck every little helps...
  17. Yeah good question abedogg i also thought of that. Dr.Feller with this tool does your view chage regarding FUE transplants?Do you still feel the best approach is a combination of strip and FUE or now FUE can stand on its own on large balding areas? Would you trust to completely convert your practice to all FUE?
  18. Hey i asked on the tool lol. What is it how it works different than the normal tools? Why is it different and better? Is it for making the procedure better and more trustworthy for the best FUE doctors?does it make a difference to them? or its only for the ones that have no clue and wish to learn?
  19. I love inventions generally and everything that has to do with good technology coming out that will make things better for us... edit:i just understood it is only for extractions it just that it looked a bit like the choi implanter If not, is it like a drill?you spin the top left and right and the bottom drills?(not very scientific i know but i dont know how else to express it)
  20. I think ve seen his pics a long time ago in HLH and he wasnt butchered or anything!!!i havent seen his scar though. From the pictures it looks like a typical result i am not sure though if it was LMS or another Bosley patient. I think everyone commented on how lucky he was and that his result is very nice though it was from Bosley. LMS i am not sure if i am right and it was you its been along time...
  21. Hi indian guy from the looks of your pattern you will need a megasession. so far the best megasessions i have seen come from H&W...but that doesnt mean that they can do it on everyone you will have to have the laxity for this. There are some form of scalp excercises that can help with the laxity but you will need to do them religiously for months.I have heard that they help a lot with the laxity so maybe you are not ready for a transplant just yet...maybe you need some scalp training before the battle When you go to H&W website you will see great results but keep in mind that you will have to take propecia or avodart in order to get a good result that will stand the test of time(maybe you continue to loose hair and end up nw7).So another good step before a transplant is to ty to take this drug for a year to see how you react to them(sideffects etc) The downside with these megasessions is strip, but if you dont plan on shaving your head ever then it might be not be a big deal.there is always the possibility of scar streching and feel your scalp different after a large strip being taken. If you dont want strip there is FUE a less invasive procedure but there are only a few doctors that can do it consistantly well. The good side is that you wont have to have strip but the downside is that you propably wont get as much grafts as strip ...but if you are conservative and you prefer to avoid invasive measures FUE is a good way to go. I hope you are aware that procedures are not a peace of cake...there is a waiting period for your scalp to look normal again so be prepared for that also. Well thats about it i am sure others will have more to add.Keep your expectations real good luck and maybe take time for scalp exercises and trying to see how you respond to drugs before the big step.
  22. Hey LMS good for you that you started looking for options, except from the scar how does your hair look buzzed down? Are you ok with the look to use it in the future? You said the Dr. found your scar bad, what does he mean is it very wide?when you feel like posting pictures again include one with the scar to see how it looks.Maybe your solution could be to find ways to minimize the scar get off the f***ing hat and wear the buzz look. I dont honestly know how well FUE into the scar works but i ve heard of some doctors doing that, maybe you should research your options there but i really dont know which doctor could be good at it. Dont let it consume you my friend i know its unfair but its your life now and its not worth getting screwed for BS. if you find freedom in the buzz look maybe you can find ways to minimize the scar and thats it...even if it is obvious f**k it and let it be there. You know how many guys with shaved heads i see with a strip scar on the back?trust me it looks far better than a thin head of transplanted hair and they know it thats why they do it. One of my friends that owns a club despite his advanced baldness had a 1500 grafts transplant not knowing any better!!! and he decided to shave his head in the end...he has a scar(which is thin since he had a small procedure) and he looks fine...I told him that there are doctors that do this FUE into the scar but he is so over it that he didnt even mind the scar anymore.
  23. I think this thread has no purpose and should be deleted...the feller thread is not deleted it was moved i also wondered what happened but it just took me two clicks of the mouse to find it after i remembered that Bill said it will be moved to another section. Just my take
  24. Good luck UHT i wish to get where you want and be trully happy...we are here for emotional support all the way to your goal.
  25. you said it best...when we only hear of the good results thats misinformation. When a patient is not happy, he talks privately and gets a free procedure or whatever then its not very likely that we will hear the whole story. Thats up to the patient to decide ofcourse and he has to think of himself first. Its not very easy gothering thousands of dollars for a new procedure to fix your results, there are financial issues involved so making a deal might be the only road for more than many. Maybe next time a newbee comes around we can stop talks like "you cant go wrong with dr. X" or "i would put my trust to dr. X" or "you are safe in Dr.X's hands"...people should be aware of the variables and posts like Dr.Conior should be pinpointed at the top of all the transplant forums.I dont know if that scares guys away from transplants but is better to be scared knowing all the truth than be ingnorant to the realities of transplants and be dissapointed in the end. these forums are not consultation rooms these forums are for the whole information to be presented.Hair transplants are not like other cosmetics procedures where your silicon boobs do not feel like they should so you just take them out, its not like my nose didnt come out as i wanted so i will have another procedure...if you go wrong one time you loose a lot of ground because donor is limited
