  1. Good pst jenn. It's all true - I try to remind my self of this fact every day It's quite hard though, everyone wants the "complete look". Within a year I feel I can achieve this personally whether it's via the propecia or surgery. Either way I will get it done. And you're right. I put things into perspective on a regular basis. It's just selfish not to. bcvbc
  2. All 6 of you - Thanks for the good advice. That will be all. For now at least. bcvbc
  3. I'm 23 living in the UK - I'd say a norwood 2.5 nearing a 3. pictures I started noticing thinner hair in areas when I was 21. Before then my hair was normal. Please view the pictures above. These pictures don't really give 'the best' indication but in a nutshell, I was starting to see an early bald patch at the back/top of my head in Summer 2002 as well as a receeding hairline. I started propecia on April 24th 2003 and have been on it for 3 months and 16 days now - taking the required 1mg a day. I've also been using minox on the hairline for 3 months and shampooing with Nizoral. I think it could be too early to judge whether the propecia is working and I have been advised to give it a year to see if it's doing the job or not. is that correct? My question is if after 1 year I do not see the improvement I require from propecia, then I want to go further. I will have no choice but to for my own sake. Basically I'd want to get surgery on it if that's the only way to fix the problem. What is your take on this? I've heard many people say that 24/25 is too young to get a HT but if a person has tried the best proven treatments that are out there and has used them for a year and they havent worked like he had hoped or had given him the improvement he was looking for, then surgery is the only answer. As far as I'm concerned, if the treatments don't work, then without surgery I would be doomed & living an unhappy life. I do have a plan - within 2 years I want to have the hair I had when I was 20/21 (only 2/3 years ago you know!) whether it's been aided by surgery or not. Obviously I hope I won't have to go down this road, hoping that the propecia does the job but if it doesn't then I would have no choice. Unless you or other experts tell me that it could harm me healthwise. If it does come to getting a HT to fill-in what I cannot get back, then I will obviously have to travel to the US because I've heard various things about the UK that don't really sound to inviting. I also want to be as dicreet as possible, so telling my family about it isnt even an option for me. That would be a big 'no'. What's your opinion on this whole situation? Thanks.... bcvbc

  6. Ive been on minox for 2.5 months now, using it on the hairline and crown twice a day. It's come to the point where applying it is making my hair look like crap. It's starting to get impossible to apply this stuff to my hair and face the public each day. Ive been on propecia since April 24th this year- just over 3 months now, and havent really noticed much change yet. (well, not that I can see) I plan to use propecia for a year and was planning to use minox too, but it is just becomg impossible. Would stopping minox on the crown be a bad move? considering I've used to for almost 3 months now? I plan to still use it on the hairline because Ive had some slight regrowth on that area, but havent really notice much above (crown), due to having quite a bit of hair their already. It's hard to notice as I'm sure people with longer hair can understand. Something horrific like all my hair falling out wont happen if I stop using it on the top of my head? I can then continue to apply the 1ml to the hairline each day and hope it improves. As I said, Ive been on propecia for 3 months now, when should I start seeing if this ones workin gor not? I'm 23, norwood 2.5 ish, with thin/fine dark blonde hair. Here are some recent pics before I got my hair cut a bit shorter pics bcvbc

  8. Yes, here are some photos. Im approaching 3 months on propecia and 2.5 months on minox. bcvbc As you can see, the hair is very thin and weak. On this side I have grown a faint hairline. This was due to the use of minox.
  9. That is the exactly the same message I want to post in a year from now! Welldone. So far I'm on Fin/Min/Niz and have been for over 2 months now. I take it you got a HT? Where abouts was this and what was the prices? Was the doctor good and were you a norwood 2/3? how old are you? thanks.... bcvbc
  10. I'm 23, a norwood 2.5/3 who has been thiining for the last 2 years. I've been on propecia since april 24th - 2.5 months and Minox x2 for 2 months now, and plan to use them for at least a year before I judge. Basically, if they don't work or I dont see signifcant improvment, then I will be getting a HT. Does it really alter your confidence and life? I'm really depressed with the situation im in at this time, because my hair loss is affecting my lifestyle and enjoyment and the way I'm perceived. Basically I had a full head of hair 2 years ago, so this is why this is such a shock. Does a HT alter yor life? I want to be my old self more then anything in the world, so I feel a HT is the way to go. Life too short to be balding and at 23 time isnt really on my side. So within the next year I will have an answer withy regards to the min, prop, niz treatment. A few questions I have thought up:- Do you feel like a diffefent person after a HT? Does it alter your confidence? Do you feel accepted by others more then you did before? Did you feel more like your old selves? Did you let any of your families know about getting a HT? i'M IN eNGLAND, where is the best place to go to get one? What are the general price? thanks all... J bcvbc

  12. In the UK. And he gave me it no problem, I had a hunch that the doctor would be bald, which made things easier. I then went to the Chemist (who received a delivery that today) , and now I am holding 28 propecia finasteride tablets. ??36.24 (with a follow up for x5 - which is a 6 months supply obviously) Ok then, any tips from any experts?? like where do i start? On another note, the doctor also mentioned they (he said "they") are about to (or on the verge of) release another hair loss treatment. Don't know what it is, but it's the latest and more advanced by the sound of it. Anyone know? bcvbc

  14. Im going to see a doctor (regular GP) on Thursday regarding getting a prescription for propecia and I have a few questions... 1) After getting prescribed for the drug, should I order off the internet? or do I have to go via the chemist? 2) Where is the cheapest/most reliable place/site to get propecia - Considering I live in the UK. 3) Is it best to try it for a year? What results should I expect if I use it for 1 year. I'm thinning on top a bit, but can still style my hair using a centre parting, but it's getting way way too thin. 4) Are their any *important* questions I should ask the doctor? For all those with experience, what do you suggest? 5) What's your opinion on Toppik - is it any good? 6) Do you regard propecia a must? What if the (maybe clueless) doctor tries to tell me otherwise. I'm certain it is MPB, meaning propecia is the answer, no? etc. 7) How much does a H/T cost these days? To anyone living in England.. thanks to all... Mike bcvbc

  16. I've ordered a bottle of light brown/blonde today. And Im litrally cumming in my pants at the prospect of having thick hair again. Will I be disapointed? I have thinning dark blonde hair in the style of a centre parting, that is getting to thin to style like this. bcvbc

  20. I have dark blondish hair that is in the style of a centre parting. However it has been getting very thin for the last 1.5 years and it's becoming harder to style in this way. Im am a very shy person anyway, but used to get away with it because i looked "ok", but now my hair is thin, the lack of confidence shows through more, and the people who were all friendly to you before because you were kind of good looking, start to treat you differently, even though you're acting no different then before. It's just the shyness shows through more. I need advice. What do you reccomend? Shall i get on propecia? Do I need to get a prescription from a doctor for this? Ive heard that toppik does wonders. My hair is a dark sandy/dark blonde colour that is thin, but obviously can look thicker when cut shorter. Will this do the trick? Is it a life saver? What is your advice for a 23 year old with a MASSIVE problem? I will get a transplant if I have to but I'm short on money at the mo. I refuse to go bald! I have 2 options. Go bald/have thin hair, have no confidence, have no self esteem which will = no girl friend, no decent job, and become a lauging stock. Or have good hair, have loads of confidence, be good looking, and have a great job. That's the difference decent hair will make for me. Thanks bcvbc

  22. texas - I plan to get on propecia asap. Do you think that is the thing to do? many people have mentioned this drug across forums on the internet. NW - Is toppik as good as people say? I'm hardly bald, but it's getting thinner. Few questions:- 1) Is it good for the frontal hair line? I have hair at the front, but it's thinning just behind the frontal hair line. 2) would you do without it? and is there a dramatic change when haven't applied it? 3) Does it really look natural? 4) does it really stay on im the wind and rain? 5) Are the before/after pictures on the toppik site accurate? thanks... bcvbc
  23. I have dark blonde hair, and want to know if the blonde toppik goes well with a darker form of blonde hair. Also, it obviously works well with brown & black hair, but does it work well with blonde hair, as Ive seen no pictures at all? It it realy as good as people say? I'm yet to order some, but have read good comments about it. I have a centre parting, that has just started thinning (year 1/2 ago) , but is getting worse, hence wanting to thicken it. Will it do the job? Anyone else use blonde toppik? thanks... bcvbc
