  1. CG, The physician (father or son; in my case it was the son Brad) removed the strip and from that point on, it was the techs who did everything else. I was a bit worried that it wasn't the physician who did the slits and the transplanting, but the tech that I had was very good. The results have also been great. The front of my head, where 1500 grafts were transplanted, looks great. The donor site cannot even be found. Some day, if I can figure out how to do it, I may post some pictures. I should also mention that Brad Limmer has a nice demeanor, he is respectful, has no airs about him, and has also answered every single question that I have had. A very positive experience. K
  2. Hi DN. I had a 1500 graft procedure in early August 2003 with Brad Limmer at the Limmer Clinic. Although the doctors do not do the transplanting themselves, the care during surgery that I received was good. Post-op care was exceptional. The technicians are clearly well-trained and careful. The price is relatively affordable. The results are spectacular. I am 6 months post transplantation and I could not be happier with the results. As a proof of my satisfaction with the Limmer clinic, I will do a second 1500 procedure in May. K
  3. I had 1500 grafts with Brad Limmer in San Antonio approximately two months ago. Healing was extremely quick due to the use of a hydrogel dressing called 'second skin'. There was an adverse response at my donor site due to the use of vicryl sutures. The response was mild and transient. My wife can barely detect my donor site. During this period, Brad Limmer has been extremely responsive and helpful with prescriptions, answering questions, providing guidance, etc. So far, I would rate my Limmer experience as excellent. K
  4. I've posted elsewhere about my experience w 2nd skin. I had a HT at Dr. Limmer's office on July 29, 2003. Healing was accomplished within 3-4 days, with no scabbing, no bleeding, and no redness. I am a Norwood 6 (my wife says I was N6) with very few hairs in the frontal area. I've been reading about everyone's experience with scabbing and redness, and I was simply delighted to see how exceptionally 2nd skin worked for me. My post-op period has been blissfully uneventful. No swelling has occured, probably due to prednisone that Dr. Limmer provided. I was in public as soon as I washed away 2nd skin. I will agree with Limmer that the only drawback of this method may be the fact that removing the ointment can take a couple of washes. But really, it is not a big deal, considering the immense benefits insofar as healing is concerned. Although Dr. Limmers are not hands-on individuals, I think that they have trained their staff exceptionally well. Their protocols are detailed and work exceedingly well. Dr. Limmer has called me a couple of times to follow up on me. I am 10 days post-op and I look and feel really well. I've cut my hair short everywhere and my new hair blends in beautifully well. I know that it will eventually fall out, but I look forward to when it starts growing again. I am a scientific person myself and I am very critical of everything and everyone, and despite the hands-off approach employed my Limmer, I look forward to my second procedure probably around Christmas. K
  5. Corbin, I appreciate your response. K
  6. Impressive! How many grafts? Where did you have it done? K
  7. Corbin, where do you buy your propecia from and at approx. what price? Thanks, K
  8. http://www.drugs-one.com/proscar.htm I've come across this website that sells generic Propecia and gen. Proscar. Is it advisable to purchase PROSCAR Generic (Finasteride 60 x 5mg) for $46.99? I have read that people take the 5 mg pill and cut it in quarters; the idea is that 1/4 of Proscar is approx. equal to 1 Propecia pill. If this makes sense, then with less than 50 dollars I can end up with propecia for 8 months! I will appreciate advice from experienced people. K
  9. More about the Limmer experience. Hi Jotronic. In repsonse to your question, I was not examined (or even looked at) by the physicians because one of them had to leave by noon, and the other one had a conference call. I will emphasize that I have been pleased this far with the results, as I think that the young lady who did the transplanting did an excellent job. I haven't had anything that I would call complication (scabbing, redness, swelling, excessive pain anywhere). I am (was?) a Norwood 6 and my grafts are in a very visible area in the front, yet I have been fully in public 5 days after the process. All you see is hairs-stubble growing already pretty nicely. I know that it is supposed to fall out, but so far (it's been a full wk) the grafts are growing! Incidentally, I am of Mediterranean decent (Greek) with dark, wavy/curly, and thick hair shafts. My only negative comments relate to the following: 1) I wish I'd had a little more supervision of the process by Limmer. The physycian drew the hairline with my wife's input and cut the strip. Both father and son are quite gragarious and appear to be nice, but a little more hands-on would be appreciated. The lady who did it is clearly an outstanding technician with vast experience. I would ask for her again. 2) The chair was uncomfortable. It was also facing the corridor and with the open door and various people (e.g., people fixing a window next door) walking by and checking me out, I felt a tad uncomfortable. 3) The room is Spartan in decoration and feel. No TV, no movies, not even reading because it was uncomfortable holding up a book/magazine over my head during the process. My positive comments: 1) Second skin. What a boon to instantaneous healing! More people should use something like this. Limmer needs to be congratulated for using it. 2) Nice people in the office. This is definitely a Christian office, and although I am an Orthodox Christian myself, they go a little overboard with the numerous bibles everywhere, bible sayings, "open letters" from Jesus to "you", etc. Had I not been a Christian myself, I do not think that I'd enjoy it. 3) Price. The total price is significantly lower than almost everything else that I've read. 4) Healing process. This has truly been phenomenal. If there is interest I can try to post pictures (if I can figure it out). In summary, my overall experience with the procedure has been much better than originally anticipated. The healing process is a delight. If I did 1500 more grafts, I would go back to the Limmer office and request Diane to be my person. Thanks K
  10. 1) Second skin. To my complete amazement, I have seen nothing about using 2nd skin (occlusive dressing) imeediately post-op. It is simply phenomenal! I had 1500 grafts with Limmer in San Antonio, TX on July 29, 2003 (almost a week ago). Dr. Limmer used this dressing on me which I removed on August 1. No scabs, no bleeding of any sort, no swelling, no nothing. By then, my grafts were like stubble but with no issues of healing. I went out yesterday with my family for dinner and I think I looked pretty good. There was no need to wear a hat ot to cover my grafts. I wonder why this 2nd skin approach is not described in this forum? 2) Limmer experience. The procedure was fine, but it should be noted that it was carried out almost entirely by the assistant (Diane). None of the doctors Limmer (father or son) touched me other than excising the strip; did not create any recipient holes, did not cut any grafts, did not position any grafts; did not even oversee the final result. The overall process was as described with no significant discomfort. This lady did a great job with placement and, although way too early in the game, I am thrilled with the results and the lack of problems. I will be happy to answer any questions you may have about either 1 or 2 above.
  11. First message This is my first message although I have been following the postings with great interest. I will try to post this now and if it works I will continue on with my experience.
