I have and that's why I went to him. Stop giving feedback if you don't know the doctor are you talking about (or never had a procedure from him). "I've never heard of... I've never had a procedure from... so here is my opinion----" I've never seen the movie "Argo" and I haven't heard people talk about it-- so it must be lousy. Great reasoning. People don't like your comment because it's not based on anything beside your ignorance.

Hey guys- Chris here. I'll have to check with Aileen, but I believe the procedure finished at ~1840 FUT and 39 FUE experimental beard hairs. I've had 2 procedures prior to my recent one with Dr. Gabel. Dr. Glenn Charles (2134grafts in 2008) and Dr. Ken Siporin (~1600grafts in 2010). I thought the results were pretty good from Dr. Charles and pretty average from Dr. Siporin. Neither should be taken as strong criticism of either doctor, I have pretty thin hair to begin with and dramatically sped up MPB via my past use of anabolic steroids. I've recommended a lot of guys to Dr. Charles and think anyone in the state of Florida should consider him. I'm not a rookie to this by any means and my expectations are quite realistic if not under-hopeful. I basically want a "platform" of hair that I can dump toppik fibers on. I want to be able to style the hair line, so the emphasis has always been up front. I'm not searching for a perfect head of hair, I don't even care THAT much. I'd have to say my experience with Dr. Gabel was the best yet. I spent MORE TIME in his procedure than I spent in my previous 2 procedures combined. 13.5 hours I believe. While I was certainly ready to get back to the hotel after 13+ hours, I really appreciate the time that Dr. Gabel and his staff spent with me. His staff also seemed to be working on separating (examining the grafts) for about 10 hours. I don't know if this is because they had to separate them from the scar tissue, but they really took a long hard look at every single graft. Also, Dr. Gabel planted the majority or quite a bunch of the grafts, especially on the hairline (which I consider the most important area). Other doctors do not do this and the result can be grafts pointed the wrong direction. Find out BEFORE your procedure. Dr. Gabel also saved me a $60 cab ride home and drove me back to the hotel in downtown Portland (which is past where he lives) and bought me a foot-long Subway club with tomatoes, onions, olives, pickles and light mayo (my usual, haha). He also went into the pharmacy with me to to make certain I got the meds I needed since Vicodin just doesn't cut it for me after these procedures. The following day, Aileen (their patient coordinator) called me in the morning to let me know that they accidentally overcharged me by $229.39 because the FUE grafts had already been counted in the price. Even though this is "what what they should have done," I really appreciate the honesty. I've seen other doctors (even some recommended here) try and force MLM (multi-level marketing) garbage on their patients post-op. Initial Post-Op Thoughts- I got the sutures removed last Thursday. My physician was impressed on how well the area was sealed (he only wished we had used Purple stitching, since my hair is jet black). And I was too- the scar appears SMALLER than it did before and seemingly has better coverage. Dr. Gabel thought that I'd need a scar-reduction procedure (sometime after I'm finished with FUT) but as of right now I don't even think that's necessary. It's hard to judge the result based on "how it looks" a week post-op, but it seems like Dr. G just A LOT out of 1800 grafts. Granted, he's building on top of Dr. Charles and Dr. Siporin's work but I don't think I ever has as many hairs up front. We'll see when it grows out. I really feel that Dr. Gabel understands that this is a "big deal" for guys, he treated me as a 1st time patient even though of I've done this before and know what to expect. Assuming the result grows out as I want, I'll return to him if/when have have more work done.

Just checking in after 40 days of N2Shampoo it worked pretty well. Hey I'm reviewing the shampoo here. (Link removed by moderator) In short, using it for a month, everyday. The only other product I'm using is Nioxin a couple times a week for hair volume. I'm comparing it to Revita, Nizoral, Regenepure, and the new Perfect Image Hair Loss/Regrowth Shampoo. It was formulated by a company called "NeedtoBuildMuscle," they sell sports supplements. Hair loss is prevalent in the bodybuilding/fitness community. I don't work for them (if anyone wondered.. fair question). But I'm particularly knowledgeable about anabolics and hair loss.

Hey thank you very much for your honest reply, I'll check out some more threads. I wish Dr. Gabel was practicing in Boise - it would really easy for me to see him then. I live in Boise now, but I travel to South Florida a few times a year. I've had work done by Dr. Charles before and it was really good I felt and I think I'll get a bit of discount being a former patient.... But Dr. Gabel is priced very reasonable too and he's a good guy - talked to him a few weeks ago for about an hour

Why do you feel Dr. Charles is not as good? (serious question) I've obviously only seen before/after pictures of Dr Gabel's work.. and its good

yup, temples, hairline and some of the closer frontal zones. and yes, that's basically the plan.. I'm shooting for just decent/adequate density on the crown. I don't mind putting these fibers in at all it works pretty well

thanks for your thoughts! but wait a sec though, no hair currently on top is from a hair transplant... its all native hair (on top).. only had work done on the frontal zones and hairline

I am using Toppik and a less known one called 'Hair So Real'. A little, fairly insignificant amount of DermMatch is in the front. I've had 2 HTs thus far. 2134 Grafts in the Front with Dr. Glenn Charles (2008) 1647 Grafts in the Front with Dr. Ken Siporin (2010) If I get another one, I'm not expecting a full head of hair... I just need enough so that Toppik/another hair fiber product can grab on to it. Thinking of Dr. Charles/Dr. Siporin/Dr. Gabel (since I live in Boise now) Any thoughts are welcome... I haven't updated my blog in a long while.

Curcuma aeruginosa, a novel botanically derived 5 J Dermatolog Treat. 2011 Jul 14. Curcuma aeruginosa Roxb., a member of the Zingiberaceae family, is an indigenous plant of Southeast Asia and the Indian subcontinent. Previous in vitro studies have shown that an extract of C. aeruginosa Roxb. exhibited superior inhibitory activities on testosterone conversion compared with extracts from other plants in the Zingiberaceae family. Animal studies also indicated that the C. aeruginosa hexane extract suppressed flank gland growth primarily by inhibiting 5a-reductase activity, in turn impairing the conversion of testosterone to DHT (unpublished data). The present multicenter, double-blind, placebo controlled study was conducted to assess the efficacy and safety of 5% extract of C. aeruginosa, compared with 5% minoxidil solution, as well as the synergism of the two actives in promoting hair growths in men with AGA. Minoxidil is an established therapy for AGA in both men and women although the specific mechanism of action is unknown. It is arguably the most widely used medication for AGA, both as OTC and prescription agents. In men with hair loss in the vertex area of the scalp, the combination of 5% hexane extract of C. aeruginosa and 5% minoxidil slowed hair loss and increased hair growth. Efficacy was assessed by target area hair count, global photographic review as well as patients' subjective assessments of hair regrowth and hair shedding. The combo is best. DermMatch is slightly better for the hair line if I had to pick one or the other!

I actually have experience with dutasteride. and some thoughts for you. I used up to 2mg a day, yes 2mg a day. I actually did not find it anymore effective than an ~equivalent amount of finasteride (say 10mg?). I used generic dutasteride purchased legally from a British pharmacy. While using Dutasteride I was on at least 500mg of testosterone. My testosterone was about 15x the regular guy. I certainly would have taken that dosage had I been at a normal testosterone level ~80mg-100mg. I wish you luck with dutasteride, start off low since the half life is about 5 weeks! I was going to suggest this as well. The foam is definitely good, I prefer a product made by Perfect Image, it's 15% Minoxidil though. It dries even faster than the foam!

All the advice is good. Toppik or alike hair fibers will really help!
