  1. Dr. F, Is your clinic accepting/booking any new patients for this procedure or have you chosen to just test with a few select individuals? If you are accepting new patients, is it just as easy as giving your clinic a call and scheduling an appointment? Thanks, Michael
  2. I would wage to think that the timeline for advancement today is far greater than that of the "yester-years." Computer technology has come a long way as has our understanding of hairloss and its causes. There are many companies researching different methods of regeneration, whether it be through topical products, oral products, or injections. It is certainly true that there have never been more companies on board for a treatment than we have today. What I think most people have an issue with is when asking for a "cure." I think a cure for baldness is very, very far from becoming a reality. Based off of your typical business model, companies would rather treat the condition with continual doses as opposed to cure it. Over the lifetime of the treatment, you are sure to spend more money with them than a once and done cure. I think if a cure is to be discovered, it will probably be done by accident or in the process of coming up with a more efficient treatment. As for treatments, there are certainly interesting things in the works. It would appear that they are less invasive and more effective, so I feel our arsenal in this battle will increase significantly in the years to come. How soon? I am sure no one knows, but I would think within the next 10yrs there should be a few more treatments available that will hopefully be vastly superior to the current medications and topicals available today.
  3. I was listening to the radio during my lunch break today and these guys -> http://www.h-ari.com/ari_whoweare.html had a commerical requesting test subjects. Naturally I searched them and came up with the previously linked website. The only thing I don't like is the fact that Bosely is involved. Either way, still something for those of you intersted to add to your watch lists.
  4. A quick google searched brought me to this http://www.histogeninc.com/aboutus/news_events.htm It is quite encouraging as they appear to be near completion of their phase one test on a human. I am not sure if this process involves wouding the skin as previous applications of WNT proteins have, but they make no mention of that on the site.
  5. He is a coalition doctor, so one would expect good results. However, I haven't seen but maybe a couple of his patients results posted on this forum. It would be nice to see some "real time" results on this forum of his work. I currently live in Atlanta, so the "closeness factor" is highly enticing. However, seeing Dr. Cooley's work routinely posted/updated on this forum makes me want to make a drive over to North Carolina.
  6. Chances are it slowed the process and it is just now catching up to where you can see what has been happening the whole time. However, many have reported a decrease in effectiveness after many years of use, so you could be correct.
  7. I use it daily as well. I agree with how I like the fact that it makes my head feel clean and it seems to give my hair volume. As for whether it is bad to use daily, I would not know. However, I don't think there would be an issue other than burning through some rather expensive shampoo faster than usual.
  8. rembrandt, your hair loss seems to be a lot like mine was. I am 24yrs old and probably start losing my hair around the 21~22yr mark, but losing it very slowly. It increased dramaticly when I was 23 and the only way I knew I was thining, was by having my hair wet and looking in the mirror with the light on it. When it was dry, you would never think I was balding as my hair looks very thick. It appears you are following my same path. My crown looks just like your when dry, MAYBE a touch worse, but when you wet the hair and get under a light, the real damage can be seen. I would not continue to make excuses for it because at this point anything you can do(safely) and with-in reason can save you some hair for down the road. Go see a dermatologist asap.
  9. I agree, I wasn't asking to see if Propecia was working, more or less just for my own knowledge as I had "heard" hair in this area takes longer to grow. Thanks for the help though.
  10. Just for my own information, does it take longer? Reason I am asking is because the hair I lost at the beginning of my propecia usage is already coming back in pretty strong at the front of my hairline, but the hair around the crown, if its coming back in at all, I can't really tell. I wouldn't even rank on a Norwood scale(at least I don't think??), so its possible that its coming back in and the existing hair is covering it up, but the basic idea behind my question is just for my own knowledge.

  12. I researched the drug for about 1 month before making my decision. I knew the risks....all of them. I read all the bad posts with all the good posts and made my own decision. I have not once reccomended Propecia to anyone other than say, "do the research and make your own decision." For the record I have NO sides as of right now(been on for 4.5 months) and my girlfriend would agree. I will, however, get off the drug for about 6 months before I ever decide to have kids. But, that is a LONGGGGG way away and condoms and BC make that almost a certainty.
  13. Many of us are hoping to keep all we can until something better comes out that might possibly replace propecia and have far better results. Thats my reason for going on it...well, that and being only 24yrs old I feel like I am being robbed of my youth.
  14. I would wait even longer than 4 months. I have been on Minox and Prop for 4.5 months now and the hair I lost at the begining of my usage that was caused by Prop is JUST now at about 1.5". It seems it takes about 3 months before the hair lost in the shed is at a length to where you can see it starting to thicken and re-shape your head of hair. I would honestly take note at 6 months and then re-evaluate at 1 year.
  15. I will, just trying to educate myself. Thank you for you patience and information
  16. One more question. The hairs that I lose ALWAYS have that little ball on the end of them(I guess this is the root?). What does that mean?
  17. I have been on propecia now for right at 3 months. I never really noticed before, so this could just be me acutally paying attention to my hair when I never did before, but I think I am experiencing the "shed" that the propecia is characteristic of. The only reason I might say this is because the hair I am losing is dark, healthy looking hair. Now, I know under MPB, that it gradually diminishes your hair to a clearer, shorter form of its previous condition until it is invisible. So, does this seem to hold some merit? I can honestly say that it seems my hair loss since starting propecia has definitely increased on the top of my head. I can run my hand through my head and almost everytime 1~3 hairs will come with it with almost 0 force. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated....current meds are Propecia and 5% Minoxidil.
