  1. I'm pretty much in the same situation like you, except 2 years younger. How long have you been taking propecia, and did you notice any results yet?
  2. I'm 22, noticed very slight hairline recession recently. Doctor said I'm too young for transplant, but prescribed Propecia, and said to come back in a year. I guess they've got to make sure first how severe is your balding pattern, to plan for optimum hairline. Regardless of what you do, it seems like Propecia is the way to go. 3. I don't know about you, but from what I read on this forum so far, it looks like propecia is always a good idea, whether you plan on transplant or not.
  4. what if there would be no significant hairloss in the subject later on - would filling in recessions on the sides still be not a good idea. In other words - is preserving the donor hair the only reason for not transplanting into the temples, and creating a straight hairline?
  5. I'm still in my early twenties with only slight thinning throughout top of my scalp - and I was recently prescribed propecia. Can I use propecia in conjunction with rogain, and how much would it actually help? Also I know it is generally adviced against transplanting to temples - but assuming that the person will always remain at early norwood 3, without further hair loss, can the temples be filled in, and what doctor would one recommend for that unpopular operation?
  6. thanx for the advice. since this is my first consultation, any key questions i should ask, or other things I should know?
  7. should get a nice gaussian curve there in a few days
  8. I've been browsing through all these boards a while, and one advice keeps showing up again and again - "don't do ht if you're below norwood scale 3". I am not going bald, or thinning, but I am still considering AFU HT, for cosmetic reasons. I want to get rid of my recessions at the temples, and maybe lower my hairline a quater inch or so. I am 22, and my hairline (including my father and grandfathers), was high since I was born. Now, neither my father, nor grandfathers went bald. Even my brother has high placed hairline, but it's not as apparent, because he's blond, whereas my hair is brown. From my observations, I am confident that even a small ht would make a world of a difference in my particular case, as far as looks are concerned. The benefits are great, and so far the only risk I see is the shock fallout, but even that shouldn't be a danger, considering my age, and absence of balding. Considering all above, would it still be wrong for me to go with HT procedure?
  9. I'm thinking about having my hair transplant done either at New Hair Institute (NHI) - NJ or in NY, and I would like to see if anyone here knows how good they are, and could provide me with some info. Thanks.

  11. I did do quite a lot of research since my last post - and I finally scheduled an appointment for my first consultation next week. I am 22 yrs old, and yes - I never noticed recession or thinning (my hairline looks the same when I compare it with my pictures from years ago) - I guess I just had a bad luck of inheritting a high hairline, including recessions at the temples (from the pictures I can tell both my grandparents had the same problem - but luckiliy neither went bald). Why even bother with the transplant if I'm not thinning or going bald? I guess I'm just tired of being restricted to a certain "masking" haircut. Also my high hairline doesn't look good with my rounded forehead - in other words I look much better from front than from profile, and it's really annoying. I already decided that follicular transplantation is the way to go - no point in saving money on something so important. I found two places relatively close where I live that specialize in follicular transplantation - and I'm going to one of them this week - hopefully to hear good news. Thanks for reading my original post.
  12. That was also my thought - that if I indeed start to go bold in the future it would look unnatural. My line of thinking is the following though, if I start going bold in the future I would opt for transplants at that time anyway. So starting now doesn't make a difference.
  13. Hi, I have a question, and was wandering if anyone could help me answering it. I am still young in my early twenties, and as far as I can tell I am not going bold. That doesn't change the fact that I have a very high hairline with receded sides. It's always been like that, and I've come to accept it, because I thought there is nothing I can do about it. This changed after I found out about hair transplants. My question is if hair transplants can be used to lower the hairline of a person who's not going bald? After all it would go where it has never been meant to grow? Also would anyone be able to estimate the cost of such surgery? I believe I would need around 3 to 4 square inches transplanted, with average density. Thanks for help.
