  1. Otto Just keep using the graftycyte pads to aid the healing and try to keep from touching the scabs. The scabs do not need to be "helped along". TL
  2. Andy79 IMO it really depends on how uncomfortable your current hair loss makes you. If it's really bothering you, scheduling several appointments to get different views from HT docs would be a way to start. The good/great HT docs are well known and this site can save you a lot of research time and dead ends. I waited a few years until I finally got uncomfortable(pissed off) enough to do something so everyone has their personal threshold level of frustration. You're already taking positive action with the propecia. Minoxidil might give you some help as well as you mull your decision. As long as you choose a very good HT doc, you will not regret your eventual HT(s); now or later. TL
  3. Anonymous Sounds like you're getting some postive results even though FINI and minox don't supposedly help with any area but the crown. Dr. Brandy wanted me to use these products too following my HT because he felt it could actually keep me from having to have a second procedure some day. I took his advice and hopefully will be able to keep more of what I already have. TL
  4. Norway Four months is too early for a lot of HT clients to see results. It may take anywhere from 7-10 months so the others are right...keep your spirits up and just relax. The hairs WILL grow in! TL
  5. Members: Looks like the third time trying to post is the charm. Thanks for your patience everyone; the problem was on my end. Anyway, the second pic is 9 months post-op; 1100 grafts in the frontal & temporal area. The hairs are still coming in and I will post a follow-up or 2 in a couple months. Best again to all. TL
  6. Well gang, if this doesn't work, I'll try again tommorrow. Sorry to take up so much space on the Network. TL

  8. Dear Fellow Members: As per Mr. T's timely suggestion, I am posting some before & after (9 months) photos of the 1100 grafts I had performed in December at Dr. Brandy's Pittsburgh office. Initially, there was quite a bit of shiny bald area on the front and thinning further up. The procedure was done as a "stand alone"--hairs were transplanted evenly to avoid creating a "hump" in back of the hairline. As I mentioned in an earlier post, I am also using generic 5% minoxidil once a day along with taking Propecia. While I am still no Elvis(I know that's not realistic for me), I'm pleased with the results...no more "playing" with my hair to get it right. As more hairs continue to come in, I will post an updated "after" sometime in December or January. Best to everyone TL

  10. Mr T: Posting my before & after photos was something I didn't really consider until seeing all the posted pictures on this site so your suggestion is a good one. If I do this, I would probably have my wife take the after photos around mid-December 2003 as to give the procedure a full year to come in; I believe it takes at least 12 months to realize the final results. Interestingly, I can see additional growth/ thickness in the last month so I guess there's even more to look forward too. TL
  11. I've been reading the Hair Transplant Network site for two years and it was extremely helpful in my decision to finally undergo a hair transplant. Because of the thread on Dr. Brandy, I thought it might be helpful to others to post my experiences here so here goes. In December 2002, Dr. Brandy and his team transplanted 1100 hairs to my temporal and frontal areas which had thinned out quite a bit since my turning 40. I had visited the Bosley referral office in Pittsburgh 2 years prior but did not feel very comfortable following my meeting with the intake person. Using my contacts (including relatives) in the medical community, I was given the names of several transplant surgeons in the Western PA area including Dr. Brandy. With access to the university's data bases, I was able to confirm Brandy's credentials and his publications. I also spoke with tranplant surgeons affiliated with Indiana University Medical School which is near by brother's medical practice. Long story longer, I decided set up an appt. with Dr. Brandy. His staff is very professional and the overall clinic atmosphere just "felt right". As I indicated earlier, I had my procedure during Christmas break 2002 and, because I had enough existing hair to comb over the scabs as they healed, only my wife (and physician brother) knew I had any work done. Five days post-op the pain really diminished (the pain mgt system was good) and I started back running and lifting only a few days later. My brother examined the sutures on the back of my head that December and was impressed with Dr. Brandy's handiwork in that area. Six months later the new hairs just started coming in and today, 10 months later, the grafts are almost fully grown out. The difference in my appearance has definitely met my expectations. Bottom line, if I ever felt I needed a second procedure, I would not hesitate to return to Dr. Brandy. By using Rogaine and Propecia, I hope this won't happen for a while though.
