  1. I'm 37 and had wrinkles due to sun damage as a kid. There is NOTHING at a store that will help you. I used a home facial peel a few times and am EXTREMELY pleased with the results. Do some research on Glycolic peels and TCA peels. I used glycolic peels 3 times over the course of 6 months to remove dead skin. Then I used a TCA peel to remove the top layer of skin and promote colligen building. The glycolic peel will burn and you'll get pretty red and blotchy for a day or 2. The TCA peel will burn more and you'll get red and pretty scabby for about 3 days. Then the scabby dry skin flakes off and your face is pink and beautiful. I got the products on Ebay. Good luck
  2. Check out Care Credit. They will finance for 12 months at 0% interest. www.carecredit.com. That's how I paid for mine.
  3. As someone who sat in that chair a few weeks ago, I am very anxious to have results like these. Outstanding work Doc!!!
  4. Dr. Konior recommneds rubbing neosporin on the scar for the first few weeks. It keeps the skin moist, which prevents chaffing and itching and also protects with anitbiotics. It REALLY works well for the itch. I have my wife put it on with a q-tip twice a day, then I gently massage it on the scar.
  5. Sorry, no photos yet. I'm relying on Dr. K. for that. I could not be happier with the whole process. It's amazing when you wake up the next morning and think "I spent 6 months worrying for nothing". The staff was great, Tom was very helpful, Dr. K. is wonderful and the whole procedure was easy. I had 300 grafts in my hairline from Bosley 8 yrs. ago (mistake), and Dr. K. thought that 1500 would be the way to go now so I wouldn't have to worry about it anymore. He and I spent almost 15 minutes just fine-tuning where I wanted my hairline and I am VERY picky. I was in the chair from 6:00-1:00 (seemed much shorter), then back to the hotel. Wife and kids went to zoo, then we drove home. Took the whole week off and got a lot of chores done around the house. Staples come out today and scabs are nearly gone. The best part is all of the little prickly hairs that you can feel everywhere. 200 free grafts was cool too. I think I might speak some Polish now since all the girls are from Poland.
  6. Most of the physicians listed on this website that do top-notch work have a total staff of 4 or 5 people. The doctor literally performs 1 surgery 6-12 hours 5 or 6 days a week! Consults are extremely important to a prospective patient, but please try to see it from the doctor's point of view as well. DO NOT discount Dr. Konior or Dr. Keller. Call the office and ask what's going on. Believe me, you want the guy performing surgery to be too busy to talk sometimes. Just my take.
  7. I had my procedure last Friday and I concur with Kaounis! Valium, warm blankets and soft music make the time go by very quickly. My nose started itching so they gave me a benadryl tablet which helped even more. Stay at the Comfort Suites, ask Tom to pick you up and drop you back off. Then do nothing for a week. DON'T FORGET TO TAKE THE VICODIN every 4-6 hours. I felt fine so I went to bed, then woke up in throbbing pain at midnight. My bad!!
  8. I had my procedure with Dr. Konior on Friday. I'll only echo what everyone else has said...AWESOME! Paid for 1500, received 1700. Very clean incision and very small recipient sights. The man cares, PERIOD! He's a talented doctor and his staff made a nervous guy feel very at ease (partly because of the valium), but the bedside manor was very friendly. Can't wait for the growth.
  9. I was quoted $7,775 for 1500 grafts. I sent in $1,000 to book the surgery and then settled up the $6,775 on surgery day (about 4 months later). He was able to harvest an extra 200 grafts at no cost. This was my PERSONAL experience, and I don't know if he uses a sliding scale or anything. 1 thing I think is VERY important...you are paying for a result, not for a specific number of grafts. Go see Dr. Konior, tell him what you're trying to achieve and have a very detailed discussion about whether or not he can get you there. I'm 3 days post-op and have nothing but great things to say about Dr. K and his entire staff. Remember...for surgery on your head or face, you do NOT want the lowest bidder doing the work.
  10. I had surgery with Dr.Konior a few days ago (1700 grafts) and can only describe Tom, the office staff (all from Poland I believe) and the Dr.'s knowledge and professionalism as STELLAR. If you have the opportunity to go there for your procedure then you should. Remember...he preforms 1 surgery every day that will literally change the life of that patient. If he rubbed you the wrong way then you should call or e-mail him and let him know. Try to understand that when he does a consult, he's probably already worked 10-12 hours or is about ready to start a surgery. Bedside manner is important, but his technique and results do the talking for him. I don't mean this to be derogatory, but I find many people in the Chicago area to seem a bit "brash" or "short tempered". He's still the best! I would be happy to answer any questions, but I won't have pictures for awhile since I'm relying on his photos. He also gave my family a great recommendation on a seafood restaurant and Tom picked me up and took me back to the hotel. He and his staff are un-matched in my opinion.
  11. Kaounis, Did you go back to Dr. K in the morning for cleaning or anything like that???
  12. I'm scheduled for mid-June and am VERY happy to read your post. How long was your hair? I normally shave mine with a # 3 in the back, but Tom said to let it grow out a bit. What hotel did you stay at?
  13. Has anyone used Care Credit to finance their transplant? If so, did you like it and how long did it take to get approved?

  15. Around $5.00/graft. He uses a sliding scale, so the more you get the less expensive (per graft) it is. Go see him. He's a great guy, very upfront about costs, expectations, etc... Remebmer...you're paying for an overall result, not just a bunch of grafts. A surgery with Dr. Konior is money well spent! Good luck!
