  1. I agree completely. l never thought of Dr. Shapiro. He was never on my list of Doctors under consideration, but this write-up is an eye opener. This is in contrast to Jontronic claim why Hasson & Wong is a better choice.(the post is somewhere on this board) l recall his point was if you do a megasession there is no need to return immediatly and in most cases, that would be sufficient for most patients. He also added Hasson & Wong is attractive to most patient because their process eliminate going through the circle of down-time and the entire recovery regiment. He claimed those doctors that criticized their approach most probably lack the expertise and resources to accomplish this remarkable process. l had plan to buy my ticket to Seattle next week(airtran is on sale) and rent a car from there upward to Vancouver BC to H&W. After reading this Dr. Shapiro write-up, l am having a second thought. Great write-up Dr. Shapiro and l wish Jontronic or any Hasson & Wong associate would respond to this view, so prospective hair transplant patients we make an informed decision.
  2. l read the guy website, he indicated his hair transplantation training is from the hair mill company: MRI. But then again, it could his price is lower than the standard rate because he is just starting his own practice. Just because the price rate of a particular transplant doctor is lower than the rate charge by coalition doctors does not mean the doctor is bad. Result is the key. He did explain what he thinks is wrong with the hair transplant industry. The tricks transplant doctors play in decieving patients(l guess from exprience)If he is really good as he claim time will tell. The general advice is do research.
  3. This is the real problem. To blame this guy is very unfair "Hdude46" The Doc. (not all of them)create an unrealistic results to get the patient in the chair and get the dough. Unlike their colleagues, this is straight cash no insurance involvement. Their commercials and the guys you meet when you get there in the course of your procedure all have an amazing results. The Doc. will never say to you, to realize your goal you might have to come back 3, 4 times even more. The problem are the Docs who create an unrealistic expectation and forums like this suppose to serve as watch dogs but, how can they do that when they get paid to promote the doctors. It's indeed a long road. If l known what l know now and a forum like this before l had my first strip, l would NEVER NEVER had done anything or at a minimum FUE. HT Doctors should inform prospective patient the likely hold of not achieving and fulfilling there expectation so, there can make an informed decision.
  4. In light with the global economic meltdown and the high rate of unemployment, are coaliation Doctors rethink their fee per graft. Dr Rassman on his blog has effect a rate cut per graft.
  5. Isn't there a way you can consult without necessarily been there physically. Take a scenario where a patient live on the east coast(Washington D.C.) and want to consult with a coalition Doc. in LA, Miami, H&W, Minneapolis, Seattle; before he makes a decision which Doctor to choose as his preferred transplant Doctor. l think even before he starts the procedure, he is already broke. The cost of days off from work, air tickets, meals, hotel rooms can add up quickly.
  6. Okay! all said. are the coalition doctors reducing there fees right now? if they don't they will lose out. The price need to come down.
  7. You only hear the good story not the bad ones. Interestingly, There seem to be more good HT than bad ones on this board. Those with bad experience are not incline to write anything, because all you here on this forum is how wonderful doctor a ; b ; c is. The doctors and their reps are here to market themselves or their Clinic.
  8. Under IRS tax code you can't deduct it. The IRS consider it as cosmetics procedure except of course, is authorize by a physician only in cases involving burn victims or congenital disability. l am a Tax auditor.
  9. Why do you guys always see the need to cover-up for these doctors. while the reference to the doc. as "Doctor A". If this forum is set-up at the patient best interest, why then do folks seem tocover up the docs ID where as if it was a successful procedure, we idolize, praise and heap ecomium on this Doctor. Guys pay almost their life saving on these procedure(no health Insurance accepted, raw cold cash)) so when it's good let the world know and bad let the world know also. This will keep this guys at top performance.
  10. l bought mine 4 weeks ago. What made me decide on this one was after l read the CEO of Spencer Forrest interview. The maker of Toppikk in one publication. He said, he had used the other popular one hair-max and he did see some improvement and when he viewed it closely he saw room for possible improvement thus the basis for the X5 design. The X5 he said, design ergornomically and it's expected to be more effective becuase he build in more laser lights than any one of it's kind in the market. l research on this very well. l read Dr. Bernstein's view on laser hair regrowth. He is actually using it in his clinic for his patient. l also sort Bill's view on laser hair growth device(not an endorsement mind you, he was very neutral about it). But what finally sold me on this, was the 6 months garranty.
  11. This is exactly what happen in my case with a high profile transplant doctor. Hey guy, take heart. l can imagine how you are feeling right now. When you factor in that hair transplant is supposely 99.9% successful, this can be depressing. Like Bill said, talk to your doctor; If not, read the bios and reputation of the doctors on this website and set-up a consult. 9 of 10 times they will be willing to see you. Good luck men!
  12. l am concern if l am endangering my prostate. Dr. Bernstein in NYC gave my 2.5mg of Proscar everyday which l have being on since last August of 2007. l recently notice l go to the bathroom more often this days. l am at risk? l plan to see my Doc in 2 weeks. any advice?
  13. Could any of the Coalition doctors and members of this forum share any light on HT andAlopecia Areata bald spots(hair falling out in quarter dollar sizes all over the hair). Thanks for the Infor.

  15. Thank you the B Spot the advised is well taken. Do you know how l can get in touch with Dr. Harris in Colorado?
  16. Dr Bernstein never talked about keloid scarring with me. The only thing he talked about was that he was going to work in the front not the sides. l only had ONE surgery with the Dr. Bernstein and before that Dr. Rassman.
  17. Thank you all for your concern. The reason l didn't post to my earlier tread of June 2007 was that what l was saying, l have said it earlier. l only contributed to the "new comer looking for experiences" inquries. l have put the hair transplant procedure behind me although, l would wish Dr. Bernstein would refund my money. The consensus opinion on this board looking at my situation was that l should raise enough money to get as much as 3000 graft. The less than a 1000 graft wouldn't make much impact. l have save cash which l think is reason amount to get as much as 3000 graft and l am now shopping for a Dr. who can do repair job for me. thanatopsis_awry:to respond to your question, that was not my first HT. l had about 1300 grafts all together with Dr. Rassman who actually trained Dr. Bernstein and was the owner of New Hair Institute which Dr. Bernstein managed for him for many years before he set out his own outfit. Dr. Bernstein told me on the day of the surgery that NHI will give me "this on the house" as PR of the procedure Dr. Rassman did in 1992 when he first open his New York Office and Dr. Bernstein said as such l should only pay $1000 which is the cost of the facilty. Bill To answer your question, when l said it was 900 grafts it was long after the surgey(years)so l forgot the exact number. l ran into the surgical paper rencently and l notice it was precisely 799 grafts. Like l already explain, l took the advice members of this forum gave me and l seek financing l wasn't lucky so l took a second job and l have being saving agressively and l think l am ready to go for as much as 3000 grafts right now. l just need to know where to go to avoid a repeat of this mess. notgoing2gobald:l waited 3 or more years because l didn't know of the existence of this board until June 2007. Bill: l just send Dr. Bernstein an e-mail authorizing him to discuss my situation.
  18. l thought you guys might like to see the donor site that have made me the subject of jest and ridicle right now. l am presently looking for a fine HT doctor who can help me fix this mess. l am paying CASH and l have save a reasonable some of money, so l can put this misery out of my life. Any suggestion, comments and advice will be greatly appreciated. l live in Maryland, but l don't mind the travel if that is what it will take to get good results.
  19. l had about 800 FUT Dr.Bernstein and the result was bad. If you go back to about six months ago on this website l posted over 6 photos. When l met him after 12months post surgery his suggestion was that my scalp was tight and he wouldn't do another surgery. He want as far as suggesting might be l went to another HT doctor which is not true. Just because you HT turn out well doesn't mean everyone has been that lucky. You can truly swear by this guys loyalty to their patients, because that's your own experince. They only identify with you when it's a success story and they can win more clients and make more money on the long run.
  20. Does anyone here know aboutfinancing HT for someone with less than average credit scores. Your info will be greatly apprciated

  22. NN do you have Dr. Feller information so l can arrange for consultation?
  23. Again, Thank you guys for your input and l am going to arrange consultation with this doctors. Does anyone know of a financial who consider people with average credit Scores?
  24. nobuzz4me could you let me know your experience with Dr. James Vogel and l am think of meeting with him and see if he can fix this mess Dr. bernstein left me with. l live in Maryland. l have had several people e-mail me privately about their own experience with Dr. Bernstein. People are not just speak out l hope others will be cautious of this doctors.
  25. The doctor was ROBERT BERNSTEIN in New Jersey. l hesitated initially in mentioning the doctor because l don't want it to appear l am giving him a bad name. l think he is a great guy and l just met with him he didn't sound very positive about the whole process but again, l really don't know what my next move should be.
