  1. I am 57 y/o and had 2400 FUE's done by Dr DeYarman on 12/4/03. Currently I have about 30- 40% of the FUE's growing obvious hair randomly that is 1 inch or greater. The other areas do not yet (to my old eyes!) show any growth. I can see the dippling of the scalp where the grafts were placed. Is this normal to have some hairs growing vigorously and other scattered large areas still not showing any hair growth. What is the experience of others? What are the time periods for generally full growth and do the bare areas finally fill in? This is my first HT and I am not really sure what to expect.

  3. I had 2400 FUE's done 11 days ago and I have developed scattered necrosis in various areas of the scalp. The scalp's blood supply has been compromised for whatever reasons. Has anyone had this happen yet healed and still kept their FUE's? I most worried that I will lose the FUE's transplanted in these areas. I am using some aloe vera on the skin but am very depressed about this result. This is my first HT.

  5. I had 2400 FUE's done on 12/4 involving the first 2/3 of my frontal scalp. Post op the skin color did not look too "good" per the surgeon who was concerned about blood flow to a select area. This area in question was where HT plugs were placed 15 years ago. Some of the plugs did not grow that well. My surgeon has suggested massaging the scalp 4-6 times per day using the Bacitracin ointment as a lubercant. It seems to be helping? some. I am quite anxious regarding losing the FUE's in the questionable areas. Has anyone ever had a problem like this? What does anyone advise regarding "increasing" blood flow? Any suggestions, help/hope, or encouragement would be greatly appreciated!! I am quite upset regarding this outcome. HELP!!

  7. I had 2400 FUE's done on 12/4 in the frontal area. In some of the areas there was some scalp discoloration which my surgeon was concerned about in regards to blood supply since I had had plugs placed there 12 yrs ago. I used warm compresses to the grafts hourly at first and 24 hrs later he was quite happy with the scalp color. Since this is my first HT I am very anxious as to what to expect and what to do. I am putting Bacitracin ointment daily and shampooing gently. Please give any feedback regarding scalp color post op and general care for 1st week. Anxious San Diegan!!

  9. I recently visited MHR and saw Dr Melvin Mayer. I was impressed with him but taken back by his consultant who offered me a reduction in price if I would do the HT by the end of the month. My questions are: 1) Anyone with experience with MHR and Dr. Mayer? 2) What is a fair price per follicular graft? 3) Is 2500 grafts too much for a Norwood 6 scalp like mine? 4) Any experience Dr William Reed here in San Diego? 5) Is it OK to haggle a bit on price per graft and try and get it closer to $3.50/ graft or is it best to not negogiate price? I am new to this forum, but am seriously considering a HT soon in San Diego only. Thanks!!
