  1. I switched to Adovart and Rogaine Foam almost a year ago. I have been on Propecia for 8 yrs and it totally was losing it effects on my hairloss. I shed like crazy for 6 months, And recently have stopped. Does it work better in maintaining? Its really hard to say. What do i have to compare it to? I am 39 and have two older brothers that are nw 5 or 6. I have thinned but still have alot of my hair. I really believe it just helps in slowing mbh down. Of course i am scared to halt in talking it. As far as my sex drive. It might have made a tiny difference but i feel okay. When i first took adovart my breasts were sore for a month and i was getting head aches. after two month i felt fine.....
  2. I Just got done reading this posting and found it very interesting. I just cannot find out why Dr Feller is getting so upset at Hairtech, I don't see any post that was trying to trash you. I think the point that was just being made that the procedure is performed and perfected by other than yourself. I just think it brings down the idea of open thoughts when people start posting personal attacks.
  3. What dosage are you taking? I just started taking it three weeks ago and really have not had any sides yet, I started to get small headaches the first two weeks but now i am fine. I am taking .5 my a day. Really not sure how to tell you how to overcome the side effects you are having without stop taking it. If you are taking it for a short time maybe you should try a little longer to see if you adjust. good luck
  4. Hi, I was wondering if anyone has any thoughts on taking Avodart? I contacted a few top hair docs and they are using it when propecia effects start to lesson. I am on the fence about taking it...Any helpful opinions would be great. Thanks KJP
  5. I have been on propecia for 7 yrs,I switch to a heavier dosage, Proscar every other day which was recommend to me from hair transplant Dr from N Y because propecia effects were no longer working on me and he told me the drug had a bell curve so he told me to get on proscar. I have read some docs are now recommending Avodart b/c it blocks 2 dht compared to the 1 that proscar and propecia block. Does anyone have any thoughts of this as far as safety goes? I know Avodart is not fda approved for hairloss. What is the dosage that people are using daily to try and stop hairloss on Avodart? Thanks

  9. I switched a few months ago, been on propecia for 9 years and started losing it effects on my crown. I saw Dr. Bernstein and he recommend i started talking proscar every other day, so i am increasing my dosage to 2.5 mg a day . So at this point i am just trying to slow further loss. I really beleive these drugs just slow down the loss, eventually you will lose what you have if it was programmed in your genes unless one day they come up with something better but at this point its the best we have .
  10. Was wondering if anyone saw the story on hair cloning on CBS news tonight.Rep from Bosley wants to start trails this summer and said maybe in 3 to 5 yrs it will be in practice. Any thoughts? Almost sounds to good to be true, imagine no donor scars and all the donor supply you want .
  11. I wonder did you meet with Dr. Bernstein? He told me the same thing to increase dosage and start taking a 5mg proscar every other day instead of propecia once a day. Propecia he told me has a seven year bell curve and starts to lose its effect. I started taking the proscar this week. I am 37 and have been on propecia since 1998. I feel the last two years i have lost a good amount of hair in my crown area. Well i am giving it a shot. I wonder what other doc's think of this method?
  12. I have been on propecia for 8 years. I must say the first five years i really kept all my remaining hair and it totally slowed down hair loss if not stopped it. The last 2 years i have noticed i have began to shep alot more hair and my crown and gotten thin. I talked To Dr, bernstein last week and he explained the bell curve of propecia after 5 or 6 yrs it loses it effectiness taking 1 mg a day. He recommened i start taking Proscar 5mg every other day or two propecia's a day. Has anyone tried this and does it work? It just seems like a large dose but he told me it should help me . Any remarks?

  14. Hi Wesley. If i can ask how many plugs did you have removed? Were they in your hailine? How long do the stiches stay in and did you have to go to Bertien for removal? Ken
  15. Well i think most people like myself that receivced transplant sessions in the 90's and got minni's or plug regret getting procedures done. Some poeple from that i have seen on this site have been hacked and scared by horrible doc's.
  16. Hi, Well i can identify with your problem cause i have the same. I was too young and stupid and had my first of three procedures at 21,22,23 which totalled 800 minni and micro's.My hairline was placed to low and i was left with a pluggy hairline and a wide donor scar from the famous Dr. Brandy. 1998 went to Dr. True and receivced 1300 graphs to try and mask the problem with a new donor area which i am told might have been taken out of the sweet spot of donor hair.Hairline is a little better but i am not happy with it.I just saw Dr. Bernstein last week who specializes in repairs and he said that i should have about 20 to 30 graphs removed and split into fut and replanted. Then maybe later on do a small session of 400 in the hairline. Also a was told that i really have no or very little donor hair left that was very upsetting I am glad i saw Brstein,It makes sense not masking the problem and try and soften it with removal or thick graphs. I feel in my opinion there are three top docs i trust for repairs. Berstein,Shaprio, and Hasson and Wong. They is hope for you just get opinions from a few docs.
  17. Well he told me i did'nt have much donor hair left maybe 400 grafts. I had a total of four procedures done totalling 2,000 minni and micro's .Three procedures with Dr. Brandy in the early 90's that left me with a wide donor scar and a pluggy lower than it should be hairline. He also told me that the last transplant session i had done in 1998 by Dr. True might have been taken too high out of the sweet spot of the donor area which i found both opinions very upsetting. He recommended that i do nothing at all or remove maybe 20 to 30 thick graphs and replant them in my hairline to soften the appreance.Maybe after that he might be able to get 400 graphs and put them in the hairline. He was very honest and i felt comfortable with all the answers i received. I must say i am happy i found him. I just have to get up the nerve to do it. I don't have much to say about the other docters work that was done to me. It just makes me wonder how some of these doc's can sleep at nite when they make promises they cannot deliver and leave you scared.
  18. I met with Dr. Bernstein yesterday to see if anything can be done with previous sessions i had bad results from other docters. I just want to let people know how impressed i was with his knowledege and honesty in the hair transplant field. He spent plenty of time with me and spoke very frank and just really came across as a nice guy . No matter that i did'nt not like what he had to tell me about donor hair left and his opinion's on other work i had done,He really came across as really caring and blasting the other docs that in my mind have did me a injustice. I will be using him for my repair work and wish i would have found him 8 yrs ago.

  20. I just had a consult with a very top notch Hair doc that told me that the area of donor hair that was taken from a previous surgery some 8 yrs ago is above the sweet spot. Otherwards he removed the donor strip too high. I think my heart sank when the doc just told me this yesterday. The funny part is i had three poor sessions done in the early 90's that i was'nt happy with, and the last one i had was suppose to be with a better doc who was trying to correct me from the previous three. Now i am told the donor area he took it from (above the old area that three strips were taken from) is too high and that hair might one day fall out.I must say i am very upset and angry about this.I really wish i would have never went thru all this over the years. These doctors claim to be the best and looking for your best interest and in the long run that hack you up and take your cash.I am sure others are in the same boat as me just wanted to vent my situation and tell people to do as much research and see as many docs as you can before doing a procedure
  21. Thanks Rich, I actually had dr. true do my last session of micro and minni's in 98.A few yers ago i contacted Dr. True and asked if he was doing FUT and they said no,so i got a little turned off to them. I see both Berstein and True have consults in Shorthill N J so maybe i will kill two birds and meet with both of them. I am sure good docs know people get second and third opinion's these days. Ken
  22. Hi Rich, I live in phila and looking to get some repair work done,If i can ask Who did your repair work? And what did you have done? I am thinking about seeing D.r Bernstien in N.Y just not too excited about going thru the procedure after having four sessions of micro and minni's ten yrs ago. Thanks Ken
  23. Seems like from everything i read the donor scar area seems to be a hurdle in which transplant doctors have not found the best way to have a perfect result.Does anyone know really who has the best way to close the wound after strip surgery.Myself i have a wide donor scare that i am not unhappy about.Just wondering who might have the best way of preventing a bad result,Maybe some new procedures are becoming developed? Thanks Ken
