  1. I had my third consultation with Dr. Friedman (NHC), what an experience that was. From the moment I walked in the door I was led to a waiting room where I filled out some paper work, then the very attractive women comes in to give me my consultation, now, she is not the Doctor mind you, and niether was this other gentleman, but they were the "sales" team, and they were trying hard to sell me. It was sort of amusing. I finally met with Dr. Friedman and discussed my particular situation and possible solutions. During this time with the Doctor the other two "sales" people were present the entire time and throwing in their two cents. The experience was like being told you needed Gap insurance on the car you were buying or something like that. I was asked questions such as, who have I seen for consultations and how much per graft etc. I explained to them about the forum and how informative it has been in my decission making, and my education on HT. They were very impressed with the knowledge I had about HT during the consultation. I felt armed with information, and if felt good. I knew in the first 5 minutes this establishment was not for me, but I got to see an acutual HT, and it was pretty cool. Because of this forum and all of it's knowlegable participants, I gathered enough information on HT to impress it's staff. I thank you all for the invaluable information you openly share on this website, without it, I would be in the dark. Thanks, dario.

  3. I would like to hear opinions regarding the work of Dr. Alexander and Dr. Keene. Who do you think produces the best overall results. I understand this is a matter of opinion, but the sharing of ideas are educational. Now, I met with both, and Dr. Alexander suggested 2000 grafts, 600 in the hairline and 1400 towards the back. He was not so concernd with the scar on the back of my head or did he mention suggestions to minalmalize it. The overall feeling I got was that after the HT was completed, I would be satisfied enough the scar would not bother me anymore. Dr. Keene's consultation was more informative, and that is due in part to the fact I new what type of questions to ask now, and with Alexander I was not prepared with a list of specific questions. Dr. Keene suggested 1500 grafts, 700 hairline and 800 towards the back. She also mentioned filling in the scar. She measured the area to be worked on and came up with the number of grafts. Alexander just looked and came up with his number. Dr. Keene also recommended the generic form of Propecia to maintain the hair on my crown, she felt those hairs were sufficient enough to be left alone and not risk shocking them by incisions. Dr. Keene's explanation of creating the hairline was very informative, and after seeing pictures of the results I can understand her point of view. Now that I have all this information, I have to process it from an objective point of view, but it is difficult, because I am emotionally invested in this, and I don't want my desire to overshadow a well thought out, educated decission, Ya feel me. I think I will meet with Dr. Alexander again ,and be better prepared with a list of questions.

  5. I have met with Dr. Alexander and Dr. Keene. I would like to consult with a third Doctor located in the Phoenix area. Perhaps someone on the forum can suggest a reputable surgeon. By the way It is a tough call between Alexander and Keene. Both of them do very good work. Thanks, Dario.

  7. FIRST OFF LET ME SAY HOW ENCOURAGING IT IS TO BE A PART OF THIS FORUM. IT IS SUCH A GOOD FEELING TO HAVE OTHERS UNDERSTAND THE EMOTIONAL AND PSYCHOLOGICAL EFFECTS THAT CAN COME WITH LOOSING ONES OWN HAIR OR SUCH AS MY OWN CASE, AN INVASIVE HAIR RESTORATION PROCEDURE. ANYWAY, THANKS TO ALL WHO RESPONDED WITH VERY HELPFULL SUGGESTIONS. GORPY, THE PICTURES OF YOUR HT PROCESS WERE AWESOME. LOOKS GREAT. TO THE PATIENT OF DR. ALEXANDER, THANKS FOR THE RESPONSE. I HAVE BEEN ON HIS WEBSITE AND ADMIRING HIS EXCELLENT WORK.

  9. I just wanted to say thanks to all who responded to my post regarding the hair flap. It feels good to talk about it after all this time, very theraputic. I have consulted a physician recommended on the website, his name is Dr. Alexander and he is located in AZ. I met with him and he seemed to be very confident that he could help me and that I would be very satisfied with the results. I still want to do some more research before I make my decission. There is a Dr. in Tucson who is also on the website, her name is Dr. Keeley? I might have spelled her name wrong. It would be very helpfull to talk with someone who has had this procedure and has corrected the situation. Any way, thanks again.

  11. years ago I underwent a hair restoration technique known as a Flap. I had seriously overestimated the results of this procedure. To make a long story short, I have a large scar on the back of my head, which is very visible, and my hairline looks too straight. Now the hair behind the flap is thinning out,and I am constantly looking at my hair, it has gotten to be an obsession, and I need to rectify this situation. I am hoping to find someone who has or had a similar situation like mine and fixed the thinning hair, protruding scar, and straight hairline to achieve a natural looking head of hair. Can anyone help.
