  1. Input from those who know about side effects of proscar/propecia indicate that side effects relating to sexual dysfunction may very well go away after 3 to 4 months. I'm now using proscar at a reduced dosage and still having all the side effects, but willing to go longer to see if things stabilize. Does anyone know about the side effect of swelling in the stomach area -- is there the same chance that it too will go away as well as the libido problem?

  3. I've been told that since I'm older (57), I could try taking one quarter every other day to reduce the side effects. But would reducing the dosage halt the effectiveness of what it's suppose to do in the first place -- stop the hair loss?
  4. I've been taking proscar for 2 to 3 weeks; splitting the tablet into quarters and taking one quarter every day. Now I find that according to Merck proscar has a hiher inicidence of side effects -- about 8%, than propecia, which has about 2%. I have definitely been experiencing the libido side effects as well as the weight gain in the stomach area. Should I reduce the proscar dosage or just switch to propecia even though it's costlier just to make sure to avoid the side effects. Or is it just the finasteride, which is in both that's causing side effects?

  6. Concerning the sexual side effects, has anyone ever switched from one to the other (proscar/propecia) and noticed any difference, or seen any research on this?

  8. I'm trying to make the same kind of decision. What made you go with Hasson?
  9. I'm definitely leaning towards a hair transplant at H&W. Problem -- I'd like to make a decision about who to schedule it with. How do I intelligently decide this without going for a consult beforehand? I've been told that one is better at dense packing than the other, one better at coverage. I'm rather new at this, so not even sure what is more important in my case. I'm 57, Norwood 4A, present density of hair is avg, texture fine to mixed, scalp is on the tight side. Bottom line -- I want as much as can be done in one session. Any help from H&W patients much appreciated!
  10. Not sure if I'm sending this correctly, but I'd like Arfy's opinion on Dr. Bernstein. I had a consult with him last week and think I'll go with him after considering others. I'm 57, a Norwood 4A and he recommended 1500 grafts for frontal region. So, any thoughts about Bernstein? Thanks, Newby
  11. I realize I need to give it more time, but just started proscar a week ago, and am noticing some of the sexual side effects. Question -- is there anything to using l-arginine as a supplement to help, or is that worthless?

  13. Any opinions on or experiences with Dr. Alan Feller or Dr. Robert True in New York?
  14. I'm new at this, but what are the pros and cons of laser hair techniques. If bad, why so?
