  1. Update at 7 months Here's an update of my recovery after 7 months with the photos. I also did a haircut in the meantime.
  2. Update until day 14 Here's an update of my recovery at day 14 with the photos. The recovery is going well and I have almost no pain / tenderness in my head this week. The scabs also have come off. See pictures.
  3. Update until day 6 Here are the photos at day 6. The recovery is going well and fairly smoothly and at the moment I also suffer from some itching, especially in the donor areas. I did not experience much pain in the days after the surgery. Sleeping sitting down for the past few days took some getting used to. Because I now also had a transplant area on the back of my head, it took me a while to find out how I could lie comfortably without touching the pillow too much with the transplant areas.
  4. Waiting time between a consultation and the operation is about 6 / 7 months but sometimes places become available earlier.
  5. Introduction Over time, my hairline in the front has become a lot thinner and I suffer from a balding spot on my crown. It took me actually quite a few years to overcome my doubts for a hair transplantion and to regard hair transplantation as a legimate option for my problem. At first, I regarded hair transplantion as rigorous and very expensive. Furthermore, I was afraid for failures of the procedure that could occure and I have read about with people who did have a bad hair transplantion. At a given moment, I just wanted to get back my thick quiff that I used to have and I was fed up with the frustration when my hair didn't fit well after cycling or when it was windy outside again. So I kept reading on the internet about hair transplantion results in the hope to find a good clinic someday. At the end, I still have good and thick donor hair and it is a shame not to use it. Below I describe the process of the treatment and how I came to the choice of the clinic. My intention is mainly to describe my experiences during the process and not so much to describe the operation in detail. I kept the story about the treatment pretty basic. Choice of clinic On Wednesday May 19 2021 I had a consultation at Fuegenix with Dr. Munib Ahmad. In it, he briefly explained the process of hair loss and how he carries out the treatment. He also showed that he uses a microscopic camera to accurately see the hairs of a graft. This prevents incorrect drilling of the graft, which could cause one or more hairs to be damaged or lost. He also looked at my donor area and transplant area and suggested treating the front as I would enjoy it more. Actually, I also thought to immediately treat the crown, but unfortunately according to Dr. Ahmad that was not possible in 1 treatment because more than 3000 grafts would be needed for that. Withdrawing more than 3000 grafts in one treatment is too burdensome for the donor area, so it is better to do it in two treatments. He also showed me that there are still some hairs on the crown. Therefore he advised me to start using EssenGen-6 Plus to prevent possible further hairloss in the future and to regain some hair on the crown. At first I didn't want to use it because I was afraid of side effects that I have read about Finasteride and Minoxidil, but because of the low concentrations of it, the chance of this would be quite minimal. Later I also read quite good stories about it on the internet. What appeals to me about Fuegenix is the following: - The doctor is clear and honest and does not make empty promises; - The consultation is also with the doctor himself and not with a salesman as with other clinics as I have read before on the internet; - The doctor executes the treatment in person with an assistent who works under his supervision; - The doctor has a clear passion for his profession and wants to deliver a good and beautiful result. - On the internet I have seen many good results of his treatments; - The clinic is small and personal; - The doctor also takes the direction of hair growth into account and places single grafts on the front line, which leads to a natural end result; What really convinced me are the positive reviews about the clinic I have read on the internet. The results also look very good. As a result, I did not go to other clinics anymore for a consultation. I have considered going for a hair transplant in Turkey for a while because of the temptingly low prices but the travel, the language barrier which could lead to misunderstandings and the varying results have made me decide differently. In the end, I would rather have a good result right away instead of recovery treatments because of this false economy. First treatment On Thursday june 17 2021 was my first treatment. The journey went well and at 7 am I arrived at the clinic for my appointment at 7.15 am. Initially I still had some consideration of doing the crown, but in the end I gave up that idea quite quickly and went for the treatment of the front because I could still cover the crown reasonably well and I was hoping that I could regain some hair back at the crown by Essengen. Around 7.30 my hair was shaved off and I saw myself for the first time in a long time with a trimmed head. Luckily it was not too bad for me and to me it looked pretty good. Then I had to take 2 aspirins and the exciting part started. I was allowed to lie forward on the couch and the anesthetics started. On the internet I have read that people have experienced the anesthetics as quite painful. Personally, I thought it was not that bad. The anesthetics in the beginning were a bit nasty, but nothing more. The injections I have received later were also not that painful. Extracting the grafts from the donor area went quite well and smoothly and around 10:30 am I was able to take a break to eat a sandwich and stretch my legs. Meanwhile, the assistant has started sorting the different grafts (single- / different multi-grafts). At around 11 am, they started making the incisions in the graft area and placing the graft replacements. During this process I lay on my back and sometimes I fell asleep. Fortunately, this went quite smoothly in the end and it was finished around 3 pm. Results After the treatment I did not suffer from much pain. The recovery went also quite well, because of the aftercare instructions and the great care my girlfriend has given to me. During Days after the treatment I also had much contact with Dr. Ahmad and was sending him pictures of the healing process to keep him posted. After a few weeks the hair fell out, mostly in the shower. It was part of the process and after 2 months the hair started to grow again and after 4 months I have a quite thick quiff. Over the next few months, it got even thicker and thicker. Second treatment From the beginning of August 2021 to the beginning of May 2022, I put 1 ml of Essengen 6-plus daily on my crown in the hope that there would be some regrowth. However, I think that result is only minimal and I see little difference compared to before I started with it. So, after 11 months I have decided to undergo a 2nd treatment at Fuegenix on June 15, 2022 to fill my crown and a small area at midfront, behind the coves. Basically the process is actually pretty the same as the first treatment and largely similar as described above.
