  1. Thank you for the feedback. I am going to cancel my procedure as I do not want to go through this process if there is a possibility that the grafts will be impacted due to the inflammation in the area. Unfortunately I will likely lose my deposit.
  2. I am using both as well as an antibiotic, but I have not been able to fully eradicate the inflammation. Would this impact graft survival?
  3. I saw a dermatologist and he attributed the bumps to seborrheic dermatitis. I've had them for about 3 years now though.
  4. Hi everyone, In a wild turn of events, I am scheduled to undergo surgery next week in a clinic in Europe. I would like to reframe from naming the clinic for now, but I was wondering if it was okay to move forward with these bumps on my head? I have shared the pictures with the clinic and they have stated that it should not impact the result, but I've read online that irritation/inflammation could affect the result. Additionally, do you think the design is realistic? As you can see I certainly need the temporal triangles done as they are much thinner than the rest of my hair
  5. Any updated pics to share? Would be great to see your progress thus far. I am scheduled with Dr Freitas in July.
  6. I have seen a few examples of individuals who have gotten a transplant and show little to no signs of scarring, such as Mike Thurston who documents his case on YouTube while others of course exhibit the dreaded white dots. Mike, for example, rocks a very short hairstyle on the sides of his head, and i've watched multiple videos of him on YouTube and his scarring is virtually undetectable. Maybe it has to do with his low graft count? Are there certain extraction techniques that can minimize scarring? I have retrograde alopecia and I typically like to keep my hair short on the sides which helps camouflage the thinness above the ears. I took the following snips from Dr. Reddy's website: There is a common misconception that FUE leads to pitting scarring. Though it is a fact that badly performed FUE can lead to visible ‘dot’ like marks on the back of the scalp; with improvements in FUE, the chances of visible scarring is negligible and by following certain protocols and extraction there is evidence to suggest that the scarring is almost invisible. separately from Dr. Reddy's website: With our unique FUE system, we can guarantee minimal scarring in the donor area and the most natural results We are one of the few clinics using Acell as part of the surgery Is there some truth behind these statements, or is this simply for marketing purposes? By the way I am not trying to single out Dr. Reddy, these statements simply caught my eye (ironically Mike Thurston went to Dr. Reddy haha). I believe Dr. Reddy uses punch sizes of .8m - 1m (according to his website). There are plenty of other Doctors using the same punch size, yet they produce results with the dreaded white dots. Would love to hear thoughts on this. Minimizing scarring is important to me not because I want to shave my head one day but because I like to get fade haircuts and keep the sides above the ear short (typically no guard at the lowest point).
  7. I have retrograde alopecia and I typically keep the sides short. This helps blend/camouflage the affected area, whereas when I grow it out the retrograde is a lot more noticeable.
  8. Does anyone have input on Dr. De Freitas in regards to temporal points? I haven't really seen many of his videos show work in this region.
  9. @FabulousCurious if you ever picked a surgeon? I am currently considering Dr. De Freitas.
  10. Hi Everyone, I've been scouring posts on this site for a few months now, and finally decided to register an account. A bit of background on my hair loss journey: I began to thin/recede at a young age, roughly around the age of 20. My hair loss has been mostly in the frontal region, with some slight thinning on the crown in recent years. In early 2020, my hairline was bothering me so much that I decided to get on Finasteride in an attempt to prevent any further hair loss. So far, I've been able to tolerate Finasteride well, and plan on continuing use of it for the foreseeable future. Additionally, I began using Minoxidil sometime in late 2020. I don't know if it was the Finasteride or the Minoxidil, but I began to see some of the miniaturized hairs in the temporal points sprout a bit. They are still very thin compared to the rest of my hair, but nonetheless it is a small victory. Additionally, I think I have retrograde alopecia as the sides above my ear are thinner than the rest of my hair. That brings me to today. I have consulted with Dr. Nader, Dr. De Freitas, and Dr. Cuoto. I was told that Dr. Cuoto was not taking any new patients due to their existing high volume, so that leaves me with Dr. Nader and Dr. De Freitas. Dr. Nader quoted me between 1,500 - 2,500 grafts. I know that Dr. Nader is not as recognized as Dr. De Freitas, but his patient results that i've seen on this forum look incredible. Given that I am located in the U.S., quite close to Nader's office I might add, is quite an advantage for me. Additionally, procedure with Nader includes hotel stay which is a nice addition. Dr. De Freitas quoted me 2,400 grafts. I've seen lots of his videos on YouTube and have been extremely impressed with his results. I don't think the quote from Freitas includes hotel stay. It does, however, include mesotherapy at month 3, but I don't think I would be able to return for this given that I am in the U.S. Below are some pictures. Ideally, I just want the hairline filled in and some grafts in the temporal points as these have diminished quite noticeably. I don't care much about filling in the crown at this point. Cost isn't a huge factor for me as both are within budget. Additionally, if there are any other Dr's that I should consider based on my pattern of hair loss, please feel free to recommend. Thanks you everyone in advance, I look forward to your comments.
  11. Thanks for posting, I am considering Dr. Freitas so this is incredibly helpful. Please keep us updated on your progress if you can. Did Dr. Freitas perform a large amount of the procedure himself? I have seen on this forum that he may be using quite a few technicians. Also, I'm curious to know if there were any other surgeries taking place on the days that you had your procedure. Thanks!
