  1. If hair multiplication was around, I think then hair transplant would work great.
  2. I am fast approaching 1 month post op and I really really need a hair cut. I still have some scabs but I need to cut hair as it is too long and scabs are becoming more difficult to see or get caught. Is it advisable to ask the barbar to use scissors initially or is machine blade ok? I'm worried it may disturb the grafts.
  3. Although a few a still falling each day, still there are a lot of scabs in the recipient area. I have tried to be as gentle as I can and even at times use a little more force and really can't use too much force. My concern is that I have read that scabs can be decrimental to hair growth over time so not sure what else to do. I've used coal tar shampoo, baby oil but looks like these scabs are very stubbron. Some of them are quite thick scabs. Part of the problem I think some of the HT I done is where the old front hairline was. Its difficult to see in there so I guess the scabs are tightly stuck in the hair!
  4. I did wash these areas but probably not agressively. This was in order to aviod causing any damage/stretching the donor area. I wasn't aware if we were supposed to wash it agressively. In fact the nurse who removed the stitches said to me to aviod washing the donor area for few days. In terms of now getting rid of these scabs, is it just aloe vera that will help speed removal of these scabs or could we use something else?
  5. I have my sutures removed yesterday. I can not describe how painful these were. It took 1hr and 15 minutes for the nurse to remove these stitches. The 4 knots removal were very painful as there were lots of scabs around these areas but it was just so painful. At times a few hair was pulled accidentally that were stuck in the scabs. I'm wondering whether it may have done any damage to the donor area tissue or stretched it. I didn't thought it was supposed to hurt. Ideally it would have been best done from my HT surgeon but as I am back in the UK (was only in Canada for 1 week), I wasn't going to go back to Canada just to remove stitches! Now the donor area has lots of strips of scabs running across. Last night, sleeping was better but still feels a bit awkard. I think this could be because the scabs. Is it normal to have scab rows around the donor area?
  6. just to be clear as I noticed different views here, the grafts/recipient area are unaffected by intensive training? It is only just the donor scar we are concerned about here?
  7. Not 100% sure how wide the strip was but it was the usual U shape strip i.e. from back straight and up to the sides (2750 grafts). In terms of training its really the compound free movement exercises that I needed to do (i.e. free weights) so I guess I can stick to some isolation exercises (using machines) for now. Just thinking, bench press or squats wouldn't put strain on neck/scalp would it? I would have thought something like lat bar pulldowns would more likely put more pressure on those areas.
  8. Although I work in the city, I normally train in the evenings 3 days a week cardio and 3 days heavy resistance training so 6 days a week in total (in order to compete for local competition). Now its been over a week since I did my HT and I understand normally after 2 weeks it is ok to train lightly but when is it safe to train at high intensity (both cardio and weight training)? Btw: when we say to wait 2 weeks to train, is this more for the donor area to heal or to allow more time for the new grafts to settle in? Would the grafted hairs be disturbed by training intensively?
  9. Ok finally after long flight to Toronto (Canada) I got my HT done this week. First night was difficult. Almost 12 hours at the surgery. I got my front hairline and temples done. I almost felt I was about to pass out the first night but it was ok. I'm on day 4 today. My main worry is sleeping. I can feel the donar strip (I had sutures/stitches done NOT staples). At night this keeps me awake a lot and very hard to sleep on pillows. I have taken it easy with washing my hair. Only today I let some water run from the back of head to the front but only gently and not a lot. My hair is still pretty much in the same shape as it was straight after HT. The suture area of course I wash daily and apply a special type of ointment. My temples, I had some different type of ointment applied there by the HT surgeon which is still on there and make it stand out. Any ideas why temples have special ointment applied on it but not other areas? It looks all greasy and shiney though. I can't wait to wash the front area properly as I haven't been able to do this for almost a week! I also want to be able to hide the front area by brushing/moving the hair forward (especially before work) but have been advised by the HT surgeon not to do this yet. The temples are hard to hide. I will get pictures up as and when they become available.
  10. I just thought it would be useful to create this thread stating some things that people who are considering hair transplant in determining what questions to ask a HT surgeon when undergoing a consultation. I guess one of the questions would be on follicular units per square metre in determining density of hair. Front hairline design would be another one. Any others?
  11. I can only book an appointment with the nurse 9 days after the HT will take place later this month. Is this too early or ok?
  12. Just keen to know, once the surgeon makes incisions/holes in the scalp and grafts are put in, how does it remain secure and intact afterwards??? Wouldn't they just fall out if you touched it or just grow and fall out? For the purposes of this thread by "afterwards" I mean 1,2,12, 15 months and beyond. I mean its not like these grafts and glued into the scalp or anything so how does it remain secure just like native hair?
  13. Aloe Vera Shampoo has been proven by some to help minimise hair loss. Even if it doesn't it is claimed it can strengthen/nourish the hair follicles. Anyone tried this and noticed any changes?
  14. ok so but it wont hurt the hair transplants though would it? I would have thought it would help.
  15. vitamins, multi-vitamins and green leafy vegetables are to be discontinued 3 weeks prior to HT? Do they not help HT or something?
  16. After the HT surgery, how easily were people able to notice you have done something to your scalp? I will be getting my front hairline done later in March and was thinking of brushing my hair forward so it hides the HT area. Is that what others try to do?
  17. just out of interest, if you had your crown treated for HT, would they also be expected to wear a hat?
  18. Hi, I understand after HT surgery it is recommended to put on a cap for a few days. I am assuming this is in order to hide all the cut marks, blood stains etc on the head. My question is, is it a baseball cap or a trucker hat we are supposed to use? Are they the same thing or different? Whats a trucker cap? I'm looking at this site.......... https://www.urbanexcess.com/c-1044-trucker-caps.aspx Is this ok to use ............ https://www.urbanexcess.com/p-...-cap-blackblack.aspx Is has mesh grille at the back with cut out holes. Does the back area of the head need to be completely covered as this will be the donor area during HT surgery.
  19. This still makes no sense. Have you seen some pics of people on NW 6 or 7 with HT on this site?
  20. I am sure I have seen several pics on this site with people on NS 6 and 7 with HT cover all the relevant areas. Although not as dense as someone on 3 or 4 NS but have managed to cover some areas more lightly as opposed to more densely packed.
  21. but wouldn't the HT surgeon advise you on what NS you are on (or heading towards) and how many grafts you are likely to need to cover all the relevant areas??? Isn't that the whole purpose of a consultation with a HT surgeon??? Even with propecia, if you did HT say on frontal area it won't stop the crown from losing hair if you are heading towards NS 6 or 7 further down the line.
  22. Extract taken from Hassan and Wong's website.............. "Will hair transplants ever fall out? No. The transplanted hair is harvested from the permanent donor zone. This hair is resistant to the effects of DHT. No matter where the hair is moved to it will maintain its resistance to DHT and survive indefinitely."
  23. I thought the purpose of having HT is that the hair is genetically not prone to hair loss since the hair is taken from the back donor area??? Obviously in areas where HT has not taken place say for example the crown area, coming off propecia would probably result in gradual hair loss but I fail to understand if you have had HT done all around why would it be essential to have Propecia???? Isn't the hair genetically not prone to hair loss? I thought HT lasts a lifetime.
