  1. Thanks guys, I know it's early and I am trying to hope for the best, but have to admit I'm pretty stressed. The only med I have taken is Propecia, only for a few months a couple of years ago. I am concerned about the side effects; what is the general consensus on realistic risk and degree of side effects? What other meds are truly proven / recommended here? I will definitely keep you guys informed and really appreciate the support. I know it won't be the end of the world no matter what happens, just quite a shock for me going from looking forward to a year of improvement to questioning everything. I will try and keep a positive attitude, though it's difficult, and hopefully I can make the best decisions possible moving on.
  2. Thank you Sparky, Topcat and hairthere. I will consult with some of the recommended clinics on the forum to try and better understand my situation and try to meet some patients to plan for the future as well. I am in Dubai for another week, biting my nails. What should I try and get from the clinic before I leave? What specific details should I ask them for to cover myself, or is it pointless? Is there anything helpful I can do? The eventual plan was another HT, I just hoped it would be a couple of years and I would have some results, not just regret, in the meantime. I'd be happy with 20-30% density improvement in the thinnest areas (which now look totally bald), but it sounds like I can't even count on that now.. I really hope things work out ok and the next year is not just utter disappointment..
  3. I see the dense HR placement from your blog, but I thought too dense was dangerous when there is existing hair to damage? I hope this will be a stepping stone and not a massive mistake. I was hoping for a few months of waiting for improvement, not catastrophe. Oh man am I worried.
  4. Hi Sparky, You don't think I'm going to get ANY density? Wow, so in your opinion all of this was a complete waste of time and money plus the scar and risk I may actually lose hair and not gain any? That is just devestating if true
  5. Another try.. My hair has also looked VERY thin since the HT, maybe the baby shampoo? Dunno
  6. Hello, This is my first post after reading hundreds on this forum, some of which have informed me, some of which have comforted me, and recently, some of which have scared the hell out of me. I just had my first HT, 4 days ago. At Nuhart in Dubai. I did research online beforehand, but did not read any horror stories until after the fact. I am now very concerned because of the Nuhart reputation on the forums and would appreciate very much any and all feedback any of you experienced members can provide based on my situation. I chose Nu / Hart because of cost. I do not have much free money and have wanted a HT for the last couple of years, but cost where I live (California) has been prohibitive for me. (Quotes anywhere from 5k to 8k for 1200 FU transplants, strip method). I happened to be traveling for work here in Dubai and was shocked by the quote Nuhart gave me of $2500 for a 1200 FUT. I went in for a consultation and was impressed by the doctor. His credentials looked good: http://cheltenhamalumni.org/BIOS/macvaugh-horace.htm http://www.hairlossscams.com/H...torationSurgeons.htm http://www.ishrs.org/doctor-se...p?State=Pennsylvania And he seemed like a knowledgable and good guy. Anyhow, I scheduled the HT and the procedure was not bad, the doctor showed me the strip after it was removed and later the individual FUs, mostly 1 hair, with some 2 hairs and a few 3s. I spoke with him through the procedure and honestly I liked the man as a human being. No used car salesman vibe at all, completely professional and sincere. The donor scar afterwords seemed a bit more noticable through my hair than I thought it would, but everything seemed to go smoothly. Had a bit of swelling on day 2-3, but has pretty much subsided. I am on day 4 now and as I am resting and reading the hundreds of HT horror stories I am growing more and more worried, especially with the bad reputation Nu / Hart seems to have on many forums. I was prepared for some shock loss, but seems like I've had quite a bit already behind and on the sides of the front center hair area. Any experienced opinions based on my pictures and situation would be greatly appreciated. I want to know whether things are likely to get better or worse for me now (I just turned 32, have always had thin hair, but no balding until the last 4 years maybe, becoming more and more depressing to me in the last couple. Father's side of the family has thin hair, with one of my 5 uncles almost completely bald; father has good hairline but thin. On my mother's side all the men have thick full hair, even into their 80s. I tried Propecia a couple of years back for a few months but the plan had been to follow that with a HT and I couldn't afford it so I stopped. ) Attaching pictures on the next post, Thank you very much for any help, -Lind_1978
