  1. My natural hair has not been curly but fairly straight. It could be that my hair is turning grey and the texture is different than when I was younger. What's new is I haven't had a hairline for many years so maybe my new "normal" is a little curly. I wouldn't call my donor hair as "curly" but I guess it does have a slight bend to it. I used a top-tier surgeon who is very highly recommended on this and other forums as well. This is not a "mis-angled" issue as it's not the angle of the hair but the hair itself having a slight bend to it. You might call it "frizzy" but I'm seeing a slight curl to the hair. Yes, I am VERY happy with the results - better than expected - very natural, dense and thick. I can try to provide pics as well.
  2. I had a HT almost 6 months ago. The new hair looks great! Very dense and full. I'm extremely happy with the results thus far but the new hair is curly. I like it but my "normal" hair was a lot straighter. Does the new hair typically come in curly then straighten out over time? As I mentioned, it's been 6 months post op. Just curious.
  3. I use "Just for Men" but was told it is harsh for your hair. What is the best/safest hair color product for dying hair?
  4. I'm 10 weeks post-op. When is it safe to color/dye hair? Also, what is the safest product to use? I've been using "Just for Men" but was told that is harsh/bad for your hair.
  5. Thanks for the response. If I cannot do bench press, are the following lifts safe two months after an FUT? - Bicep Curls - Dead Lifts with Light Weight (~100 lbs)

  7. How important is protein for hair growth after a HT? Anyone have experience with the help hair whey protein shakes?
  8. My office desk faces floor to ceiling windows. Although it faces north and I'm not getting direct sunlight there is sunlight coming into the room. Is there any concern about UV damaging my newly transplanted hair from this or is the concern only with a sunburn from direct sunlight?
  9. I'm 5 weeks post-op. At what point post-op is it safe to start working out and lifting weights (bench press, dead lifts, etc)?
  10. Thanks for your response. This is exactly what I was looking for!
  11. OP: "Do baseball caps sufficiently protect the recipient area after HT?" Short of tinting my car windows and using sunscreen on my scalp, will a baseball cap sufficiently protect the recipient area 1-6 months after HT?
  12. Thanks for the response. I always wear a hat when outside. I guess my question is "As long as I wear a hat outside, does that fully protect the recipient site?" I suspect the answer is "yes" but looking for confirmation if true. Thanks
  13. Do baseball caps sufficiently protect the recipient area after HT? I'm 1 month post-op and I've tried to limit sun exposure. When I'm forced to go outside or drive I wear a baseball cap to protect my recipient area from the sun. I have not been outside long enough to get a sunburn although I've driven for a couple of hours in my car and wore a baseball cap the entire time. Is that safe?
  14. How soon after an FUT is it safe to get a hair cut?
  15. Yes, a little bleeding. Small area, mostly scraped the skin and caused a slight bump/bruise. So mad at myself! I've been super careful and have done everything I was told to do. Ugh! At least I'm 1 most post-op and didn't do this in the first week. I just hope I didn't damage the graft/root.
  16. I was ducking under my garage door while it was opening and hit my head! I'm 1 month post-op. Could I have damaged the new graphs?!
  17. I hit the 3 week post-op mark and it started shedding. 🙂 Is it normal to having a lot of itching during shedding? All my scabs are gone BTW.
  18. Does shedding of the transplanted hair ALWAYS occur? I've read it happens 2-3 weeks after surgery. I'm 3 weeks post-op and the hair has not shed and is in fact growing. Is it possible shedding may not occur and the hair just grows directly without shedding? If so, is that a good thing?
  19. It seems like HT post-op is not (yet) an exact science. Depending on who you talk to you get different answers and suggestions for post-op procedures. Some say the grafts are fully secure after 7 days, others say 10 to 14 days. That's a big difference. As far as the best way to manage/treat scabs, I've heard and read at least a dozen different approaches. Maybe it's just me being an engineer. I expect well understood and documented procedures. 🙂
