  1. I need a haircut and then I’ll take some photos. I never really had a chance to provide an update with all the cons. I’m still really happy I went though if you are looking for the short answer.
  2. Yes, the injections were painful and it took 3 days. He said he was happy to work with me because I didn’t complain much (high pain threshold); but really that must mean others complain. I’m not at all surprised given how they felt.
  3. The dutasteride has been good overall. I responded really well in my mid 20s and had significant regrowth to the point where people couldn’t really tell I was losing my hair. I stopped taking it for about a year at the end of my 20s because we were trying for a kid and had significant hair loss; restarting helped but I probably never should have stopped. Hair loss was still progressive on dutasteride but it was very slow, I really didnt notice much loss until I hit around 34-35. I’m just really surprised by how well this HT is growing in. There were alot of things I didn’t like about going to Turkey and having this done; but I can’t really fault the results. I made a list when I was in Turkey; I’ll try and post a much more thorough review over the weekend if I can get to it. Attached are another couple of photos from this evening. I tried to get a more top view of my hair with the flash on. I think the fact that it grows forward helps coverage, but it looks really nice from the front too which i’m happy about. Overall I’m really glad I went. If it is gonna get thicker than this then I’ll be good for a while I think.
  4. Hi All, Apologies for waiting so long to post after my hair transplant. I didn't want to provide a review prior to seeing my actual results. Its been approximately 4 1/2 months since I had a hair transplant with Dr. Pekiner and honestly it was probably the best purchase I've made in a long time. I had diffuse thinning in the mid-scalp and crown area. I have been on dutasteride for ~10 years and I've still been experiencing some hair loss but it was slowed dramatically. Over the pandemic it just seemed to get to a point where I felt I should do something about it. I have a list of Pros and Cons I made on my trip that I've got to find (there were some significant drawbacks to traveling abroad for a HT) but I wanted to post the actual photos of the results so far. I'm about 4 1/2 months in so there is still some growing left to happen, especially as this is the crown area procedure. But I must say, its really nice to wake up in the morning and not worry about my hair anymore. If anyone was considering it and has a similar hair loss pattern, go for it. It truly is life changing (my wife did not think I needed it, but after she saw the results she's pretty happy I went as well.) I'll provide further comments on my experience when I get a chance, particularly about the things I really didn't like when I have a chance this weekend. 5. I was just following up because of my hesitation in my last post; I am glad I went with Dr. Pekiner. I'll start a new thread when I get home for my HT report/review. My experience was far from perfect, but one of the better parts was my experience with the Doc. I'd like to hear from Guano as well if he every comes back.
  6. So, I am two days into my surgery (which was supposed to be completed today but is continuing into tomorrow) and will create an upcoming HT report (no discounts given or sought for my report, the office does not know I will be reviewing them; I will include a list of negatives that I think people should know about when considering Dr. Pekiner's office). While this is my first HT and I don't have much of a point of reference, I must say that I think Dr. Pekiner is a very honest and talented doctor. I am fairly skeptical about most people, but judging from his efforts so far, Dr. Pekiner is one of the most hardworking doctors I have ever met (more on that in my trip report). I did ask him basically point blank (which caught him a bit off guard) whether he came to a financial agreement with people where he had a poor outcome (we were discussing his reviews in the forums during my surgery; I mentioned they were nearly all good except a couple); he said no and I believe him. He doesn’t like the fact that he is unable to do much about the poor reviews, particularly because he does his very best to make sure any conditions that are within his control for the surgeries are optimal (I’ve seen this first hand, more on that in my upcoming HT report). The doctor has the mindset that if his work is really good his practice will continue to grow and “the money will [eventually] come"; especially since he loves what he does for a living and strives to do the best he possibly can. For the caliber of work I am receiving (particularly his process of optimizing everything he can and focusing on his patients needs and desires while trying to be open and honest about what he can and can't do); I honestly don't think he charges enough. If he was practicing in the U.S. or the UK, I think he could easily charge more than double and people would gladly pay it.
  7. Hey Melvin, your hair looks awesome in your videos btw, congrats. I’ve scheduled my transplant for early June and paid a deposit, bought a airline ticket, got a visa, etc. I can cancel I guess but I’d lose all the sunken costs. I had been thinking about it for a while and did quite a bit of research before scheduling, I just hadn’t seen a few of the threads on this forum. I’ve had online consultations with Demisroy, HLC, and a couple others for a FUE HT. I am shooting to have it done before I actually have to go back in the office with at least a few weeks of recovery time. Pekiner has said, based on my photos, that I am an ideal candidate although I have diffuse thinning in the crown and mid-scalp area (it is difficult to find similar cases to my hair loss). I have been on dutasteride for over 10 years so my hair loss has progressed very slowly. It honestly seems like Pekiner is a great surgeon, I may just be freaking out a bit now that I am approaching the surgery dates. I guess if I need a touch up or have any issues, it seems like Dr. Pekiner does try to make it right. Thanks for everyone’s responses on the forum and Egy’s emails of encouragement. It really does help to have others who have been in a similar situation. Now if only my wife would understand why my hair is so important lol.
  8. Thanks Guys. I've seen several good cases on a few of the other forums but now my thinking is many of those are probably sponsored posts. I'm not saying he is bad, but judging form Guano's silence I think he may be coming to a financial arrangement with people providing negative feedback so that it goes away. That's really unfortunate because then you only see his best work, the poor results either don't get published or end up being removed/discontinued as in the case here. I tried to get a consult here with one of the local HT surgeons (Dr. William Lindsey-USA/VA) but never got a response. I also really don't like how many of the US doctors seem to push FUT; I figured in Turkey where they sort of specialize in FUE would be ideal since they seem to do the most cases and Pekiner was regarded as one of the best. I've got a couple more weeks to decide. If I do end up with bad results at least you guys will know about them here. If I stop responding I probably got paid off as well :).
  9. Any updates on your HT? I’m scheduled for early June; I hadn’t seen this thread before booking…. Now i’m not sure if I should go with Pekiner or just forgo the 500 euro and find someone better. He said I need prob close to 3000 grafts but I don’t want to get it then need to pay another 10k to fix it… Removed the question; I saw the Doc did offer a touch up. Ugh; I wish I had seen the lackluster results on this forum before I scheduled my HT.
  10. I’ve got my HT procedure scheduled for early June with Dr. Pekiner; I’ll try and keep the forum updated with the results. His results in the Italian forums and here look fantastic, however, I will say that I’m not that impressed so far with their scheduling coordinator and pre-procedure process. Wiring money was a pain, the fact that I need to pay in cash seems a bit shady. I’m not looking forward to traveling with 10k$ on me in cash next month. Btw costs currently are (for my June session): 2.5 Euro/ Graft shaved 2.7 Euro/ Graft Body hair Getting pretty close to HLC which quoted me 2.7 Euro per Graft.
