I've actually started 3 days ago. I got a couple of questions for you though

    1. how much of propecia do you take on a daily bases. Right now I'm currently taking half a pill a day.

    2. Did you have any sides. And if so how long before they went away. Right now my only side is i'm little less horny.

ya i actually started 3 days ago. I haven't had any real shed.

I got a couple of question for you tough.

    1. How much do u take daily of the pill. I myself i'm taking half a pill everyday

    2. Did you have any sides and if so how long before they went away. only side is i'm little less horny, but thats pretty much it.

  3. So far no real side effects. I'm taking half a pill a day. I'm a little less horny, but that's pretty much it.Still wake up with erections, but not as hard. And from what I heard that side effect usually goes away within a month or 2 of taking the drug.Don't wanna get to graphic but i did wake up with a mourning mess while on the drug. Not effecting my thoughts on sex either. And not really any shedding yet. I'm guessing this is all normal. Like I stated previously i've started the drug super early. U wouldn't be able to tell i have any type of mpb. Just being on the safe side since my dad started losing his hair around 24 n 25(main reason for only taking half a pill a day also to keep it's effectiveness for a longer period of time). So question is....Are these side normal. And has anyone experienced these same type of sides(obviously) but question is if you have how long did it take before going away(if they did ever go away)

    ps:i'm 22

I'm excited since I don't have any side effects, ive been taking Arginine, I hear its great for improving ones sex drive... And MAN has it done so, I'm super horny, so I'm guessing either Arginine is working or the proscar just isn't affecting me?

When do you shed the most in the shower? and is ur shedding continuing

My insurance doesn't cover any part. It's all out of pocket. What I have is Finasteride 5mg Tablets. The label says generic equivalent of Proscar 5mg. Manufactured by Dr. Reddy's Lab. 90 pills cost me $56.77. This was the Costco price matched by my local pharmacy. Have you tried calling Costco or Sam's Club? It would be worth the price of membership if you can't find a reasonable price elsewhere.

So basically my pharmacy, and the CVS I checked with, is charging me $270 for 90 pills, while your local pharmacy is matching Costco's $56 for 90 pills. WOW. I am definitely pursuing this further.

i am totally lost now. When I called Cvs they wanted 88 bucks for just 30 pills of 1mg Propecia. Now Ino I can buy 5mg generic propecia and 1mg generic propecia for cheaper. But I would much rather stay with the regular propecia.

  6. So when i buy my propecia should i take the full 1mg tablet or should i split it. I heard that half the pill should be as effective as the whole pill.Plus it'll save me a ton of money. Any suggestions. Or would it be better for me to stick to the whole 1mg.

Also where is the cheapest and best place to buy propecia. not online, but where you need an actual doctors approval. And is there any difference from the in store brand as compared to the cheaper online brand

My dermatologist hasn't ever said much about it.

I haven't considered a hair transplant because my hairloss isn't great enough to merit it, and I wouldn't be able to afford it at this time.

When I first started using Rogaine, which was probably 4 to 12 months before I started using Propecia, it caused my hair to massively fall out where I was applying it (my crown on the left side) and the surrounding areas. I don't have any "before" shots, but my showers would be horrifying to me, because my hands would end up full of hairs for the first 2 or 3 months. I would speculate that my hair loss got 4 times worse for those first 3 or 4 months.

I continue to use Rogaine to prevent further loss, but I do not believe it regrew anything for me at all. As you can see in the first picture... I was pretty bad off for a 22 year old. I was very pissed off that it made my hair come out like that. When I went to my dermatologist to get my first prescription for propecia, she recommended I continue the rogaine, so I have.

I don't remember any scalp inflammation. I remember it being a little itchy, but I wouldn't scratch it.

I don't believe it was permanently lost because it looks as if some has come back.

I don't believe I ever shed while using propecia. When I first started it, I remember a lack of hair results for the first few months and a lot of sexual side effects. My ability to get erections was at times really annoying, and at other times, would be normal. My urge for sex would go up and down. Currently, I don't detect any harmful side effects, but I would honestly say that my ability to initiate erections whenever I wanted to has probably gone down 10 to 20%. I don't really think that's such a big deal though... some percentage of that may be due to a less active lifestyle and age.

The sexual side effect works as a double edge sword. Reason being is...If you did go bald i'm pretty sure you'd being having a lot less sex as a result from it anyway loool.

I would recommend starting propecia and sticking with it. I would not recommend rogaine unless you are having serious issues in the crown area of your head. I made the mistake of just trying rogaine because it was less expensive than propecia, and the amount of hair starting rogaine caused me to lose still hasn't been recovered. I would have been better off just using propecia.

What type of shedding did you have with propecia.

O and the crown isn't a problem for me at all as of now. But I heard propecia can be good for parts other than ur crown.

  9. Kinda of. My derm was more like like you know ur hair and you would know best as far as whats going on with it. But, it was upsetting that my derm didn't do a scalp count or whatever you call it. He was more of questions looked at my hair for about 5 mins before he told me about propecia.

But my pattern of hair is def like my fathers was before he lost his. So I def know something is up, if thats what ur asking

  10. I still have a good amount of hair. My crown isn't thin and my hairline isn't receding too much. I mean you can barley tell.

But my question is.....My dad started to lose his hair around 24 and had thick hair like me at the same age before he lost it. Would it be wise of me to start propecia now. The only time my hair sheds is in the shower. I mean the shed isn't bad, but still i never shed like this 2 to 3 years ago. So I'm thinking about just starting propecia early to be on the safe side. (My moms side all have full heads of hair).

Oooo one last thing. I'm really worried about the shedding phase. Is it really that bad. My hair is pretty thick you wouldn't be able to tell i have mpb. I'm worried starting propecia will just ruin my hair and make my balding process even worse. I even asked my doc the same question he advised me that he hasn't had one patient complain about shedding. Either he's been lucky enough to have all his patients experience great results or i'm just worrying way way to much about the shedding. And believe me I've done my research for the past year. So i'm not just jumping into this.

Would love to hear what people first experienced as far as shedding when they first started.
