  1. Hi all, I am new to the forums here. I was able to scrape together 3 years of hair loss progress pics I want to share and get advice on. I am 32 now, these pics range from May 2018 - today. I've lost a bit of ground on the right side of my hairline, but comparing the pics from 2020 to 2021, it isn't as bad as I thought. I take 1 mg fin daily and take .5 mg of dut once a week. I also use Minox and Niz 1%. Supplements include Saw Palmetto, Collage, and Melatonin (the latter two I guess are considered hair loss supplements now?) I was a NW 2.5 - NW 3 by the time I was 16, but my hair loss seems to have stabilized after the initial loss. I didn't start Fin until I was 21. Many people don't believe that I was a NW 3 at 16, but I have a pic at my grandfather's funeral in 2005 where I was a clear NW 3. I feel like I am losing some ground around the edges of my hairline, and I think the pics show that I did lose some ground over the past three years. However, I am pretty happy with my hair now, so if I can more or less maintain, I would be happy. Thus I am thinking to go all out on keeping what I have making some regimen changes: (1) Fin -> Dut, (2) Niz 1 -> 2%, (3) Minox -> Minox -> Minox w/Azelaic Acid, (4) Microneedling, (5) Castor oil. Also considering (but need to research more): oral min, oral dut, laser therapy. In the meantime, I have been saving for a good HT as a back up should this fail. I am just wondering everyone else thinks. First four pics are May 2018 Next three are Feb 2020 The rest are of Sept 2021.
  2. I recently added Dut once a week to my normal 1 mg of Fin. On Sundays, I just take Dut instead of Fin. Other studies and anecdotes seem like this will be effective. I have been noticing a bit more thinning around the hairline, although my lack of photo documentation over time makes it difficult to say if this is due to the Dut (or to some other changes). I have been reading that Dut has a 3-6 month period where people commonly shed, and for some that can be 6-12 months. I was just wondering how much time I should expect before shedding potentially stops. Cheers
  3. Nice post and update. You maintained well considering the MPB in your family and the rather low Fin dosage. Like TommyLucchese noted, you're in decent shape. If you are looking for your hairline to be restored, an HT is probably the most logical way to go, but if you were looking to maintain, you may want to consider Dut.
  4. Minox seems to work much better around the scalp than the hairline for regrowth. I have been using it on the hairline for a decade now, and I haven't really noticed anything but really tiny small hairs around the hairline that never developed into larger ones. I am unsure if it is really doing anything that the Fin isn't. Take this with a grain of salt though. I have considered dropping it but since I can afford it, I figure not much to lose. Really not sure of how helpful it was. I say this now that I am noticing some losses at the hairline.
  5. Checked it out. Thanks! Will look into it. Also might look into dermarolling and some other things in the meantime.
  6. A lot of people have been talking about topical duta. What made you start to do it and is it easy to get?
  7. Yea, I am. I do Rogaine foam in the morning evening on the hair line. I honestly don't think it does much. I have maintained at the hair line, but I certainly haven't had any regrowth. I figure just keep with it, but I honestly doubt it is is doing anything at the hairline.
  8. I never considered topical dut, but I will take a closer look into it. It seems quite a few people are using it these days. Are the results promising? I am 32 now and got on the big three when I was 21. I did it as a precaution. My entire family (mom included) has really high hairlines and deep temple recession, but mostly they all have their hair except for one grandfather and one uncle. My hair receded like the rest of my family when I was about 16 and it hasn't changed much since then (touch wood). I am guessing that fin may have played a role in that maintenance, but it's hard to tell. A lot of hair loss treatments seem to be feeling your way through the dark in a very individual way. All I know is that I am losing ground around the temples, so I need to try something.
  9. Hi all, Been on Fin 11 years and am noticing some thinning around hairline. I've started taking Dut 1x a week. I've been doing this for five months but don't see much difference. I am thinking to alternate Fin and Dut, going with Dut 3x a week EOD and Fin 4x on the other days. I am wondering if anyone else does something like this or not? Thoughts or comments would be appreciated. Cheers
