  1. Does hair loss slow down after age 35 or thereabouts? I've seen a few things online suggesting that hair loss stabilises around age 30-35.
  2. Thanks. Yes I will go back to Saifi. I'm hopeful that a touch-up should bring me back to a solid result and that it will keep everything in place for the foreseeable future. My hair loss is now totally stabilised since starting dutatseride so risk of further thinning should be somewhat low. Also Saifi told me on the first occasion that it is not unusual for patients to get a touch 1-2 years after their first procedure, he says a second transplant is often required to give excellent density. I believe he did a good job the first time, I have a feeling my further hair loss since the first treatment was probably my own genes initiating more hair loss.
  3. my hair loss seems to now be fully stabilised. I started dutasteride 2 months ago, replaced finisterre for it because finisterre had lost its power on me. Hair loss seems to now be very minimal, almost completely stopped again. I'm looking to fill in the weak spots shown in the pictures. Left and right sides, left side is worse than the right side. The thin areas are big enough.
  4. Is there a difference between transplanting into an area that's thin(ning) as opposed to transplanting into a fully bald area? Can transplanting into a thinning area kill the existing hairs in that area?
  5. Nothing in life is a guarantee except death and taxes ...I've certainly not lost all of it. But I feel like a good bit of it has thinned out. It could be that lots of native hairs surrounding the transplanted hairs have fallen out, but honestly to me it seems like the transplant has weaked a little bit, more so on the left side than the right side. I'm booking a 2nd transplant. I expect the 2nd transplant to be a lot smaller than the first transplant because I don't shouldn't need so many grafts this time.
  6. Hi...the transplanted hair never looked the same as my native hair, when looked at closely, especially under harsh lights. It always looked thinner and not 100% natural when harshly scrutinised. I can tell you now though, almost 3 years out from the surgery. I need another transplant. Its looking weak and not nearly half as good as it did 18 months ago. I now take dutasteride and my hair loss has finally stopped again, but the transplanted areas look weak, especially the left hand side. I can't style my hair with full flexibility any more. I personally believe that a lot of my transplanted hair fell out over the past 2 years.
  7. That does help. Thanks for your response why would you recommend talking to a physician before switching to dutasteride. I plan on taking my last hit of finasteride tomorrow, and then my first hit of dutasteride on Friday.
  8. Cool, thanks. I might message one of the licensed physicans here on this forum. I think I will need a 2nd transplant to bring me back to good density, if the dutasteride proves to be effective over the next few months.
  9. Cool. Good luck with it. 3x weekly seems like an easy commitment. Wondering if I can use it a little less than every day myself.
  10. Hi guys, I am down to my last finasteride pill. I will cut it into quarters and it will keep me going for a few days. However, I'm about to order my first subscription of dutasteride. I'm ordering 90 0.5mg dutasteride tablets. I am not ordering finasteride! I believe 1x0.5mg of dutasteride daily is the recommended dose, but I believe it has a long half-live, and a stronger effect than finasteride. I feel like finasteride has lost efficacy on me over the past year. I've been losing hair (again). I'm hoping dutasteride will have a good impact on my hair loss. So here's a few questions: - I will take my last hit of finasteride on Thursday, then my first hit of dutasteride on Friday. I have not weaned myself off fin, I am literally jumping straight off fin and straight onto DUT. Is this the best way of doing things? Will this induce side effects? - Might experience any side effects from dut; advanced shedding for a few weeks etc? - Should I expect awesome results with dut? A lot less hair loss? Perhaps thicker hair? - If I use dut 0.5mg x 4 weekly will that be strong enough, seen as it has a long half life, or should I just use it every day, or maybe even 5 days a week? Thanks
  11. I will go get my scalp examined but to be honest mate I've been going to HRBR for 13 years, they've looked at my scalp on many occasions and they said I was a good candidate for HT surgery. Dr Saifi said my scalp was fine for HT surgery. It does not see like Saifi took hairs from the unsafe zone. Will DUT increase the density of the thinning hair that I have at the front/mid scalp of my head?
  12. I haven't had my scalp examined but what could that possibly uncover? I either have a scalp disease or I don't. Say I have a scalp disease - is the solution; take more pills and get more surgery? Or is it forget about your hair your screwed? Say I don't have a scalp disease - is the solution; take more pills and get more surgery? Or is forget about your hair your screwed?
  13. I had 2,040 FUE with Saifi 2.5 years ago. Have been on 1.25mg fun daily and Regain foam daily the past few years. The meds have lost their efficacy and the transplant doesn't look great any more. Can't or style my hair the way I could any more. It's been happening extremely fast lately. Like, I can brush out 100 hairs in the sink easily on any other day. If I sit at my desk in work and brush my hair, a few hairs fall like snowflakes. Every time I step in the mirror I look at the hair and it looks cruddy, and if I run my fingers through it it falls it. It feels thin. The crown is not experiencing hair loss (yet) but everywhere else on the top of my head seems to be suffering; hairline, mid scalp etc. My questions are: Should I come off all the meds for a year or 2, shave off the hair, and let a huge bald spot develop before trying for another transplant, then get on dut instead of Regaine next time around? Or do I Swap fin for dut right now and see if that thickens up my hair?
  14. I started fin less than 3 years ago. Had a hair transplant 2.5 years ago. Use Regaine 1x daily most days (foam). When I first started using Fin my hair loss slowed dramatically. Then when I got my transplant (1 year later) my hair was fairly pleasing. Now - in the last year or so - I've been losing a lot of hair. Brushed out about 100 hairs this afternoon in the bathroom. Can't get my hair cut or styled anymore the same way I could 18 months ago. My theory is that Fin has lost a lot of its power on me, although I wonder what it would be like if I come off it? The way my hair is going I'm thinking of: A) Switching to dut to see if that thickens up my thinning hair Or B) Not taking dut, ditching Fin + minoxidil and just shaving it off.
  15. Have you noticed any difference between fin and dut with regards to hair loss? I'm thinking of adding dut to my regime because I think fin has stopped working for me.
  16. Did you notice any difference between finasteride and dutasteride?
  17. I see...I think I've seen people suggesting 0.5mg once weekly on top of 1.25mg daily...
  18. I Will get checked for minitaurization but I'm fairly sure I'm thinning. I've been shedding a lot for a prolonged period now and my hair looks+feels thinner than it did before. What should I expect by adding dut to my regime?
  19. I use 1.25mg fin daily and 1x Regaine foam daily. Been on it 3 years but I've been shedding a lot, again, and I think fin has lost its power. Should I add dutasteride? How much dutasteride? What can I expect with dutasteride?
  20. 1.25mg daily. When I first started I shed a bit for a few weeks and my skin went a bit oily but then after a few weeks I noticed the shedding stopped and I began losing very little hair. I think it might have even thickened a few hairs on the crown for a while. However after using it for 2 years or so I noticed a bit more shedding again, and in the last 6 months or so I've been shedding quite a lot, yet I still use it daily. I believe its lost a lot of its power on me. I know that it works with most people for 5 - 8 years before losing power, but it seems its lost a lot of power on me after about 2 - 3 years. Side effects: Libido a bit lower Semen more runny and watery Erections seem fine but need more stimulation to achieve and sustain a perfect erection.
  21. It caught my attention because I got a transplant 2.5 years ago, aged 30, and I use finasteride, yet my transplant has definitely thinned out. It's thinned out a lot actually.
  22. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC8061642/ There's an interesting link suggesting about 50% of hair transplants thin out after a few years. Some even experience severe thinning.
  23. Styled down and under certain lights it can look ok, but I would feel a lot more comfortable if I could make it more full.
  24. Not that I know of...does it thicken up again after Covid goes away?
  25. For these pictures I have styled it to look harsh, but generally, it does look and feel somewhat weak. Its not the same head of hair I had 18 months ago. I would like to get it topped up, if a top up will serve it well. As for dut - should I stop taking fin altogether and just get straight on dut? 0.5mg daily? Or should I start adding dut in daily while staying on fin? I reached out to Ferreira, Pinto and Saifi last night...so I will go with one of them for my top-up.
