  1. Just wanted to drop a quick update on my hair transplant journey! Again, my hair is brushed back to provide a more accurate representation of my hair density. I usually wear my hair brushed forward. I'll most likely post a picture next week when I get a haircut. So far, I'm highly satisfied with my results. If you're seeking a hair transplant and happen to be an African American male, I strongly recommend considering Dr. D. Month 4 Month 5 Month 6
  2. Here are the current results of my hair transplant journey, and I'm pleased to report that everything seems to be progressing as expected! I brushed my hair back to provide a more accurate representation of my hair density. Month 1 Month 2 Month 3 I'm particularly delighted with the outcome on my right side. Month 2 vs Month 3
  3. Hello everyone, I hope you're all doing well. I wanted to share my recent hair transplant journey with you. About 1 week ago, I had a second FUT procedure done by Dr. John D**** in Los Gatos, California. I chose him because he specializes in treating curly hair, which was important to me as a black man. Background Information Age: 29 years old Nationality: Afro-Canadian Medication: Minoxidil and Dutasteride (no side effects) Past surgeries: FUT 2017 grafts in 2020 First Procedure (2020) My initial procedure took place in 2020. In retrospect, I found myself greatly satisfied with the outcome of the first surgery. It provided me with good coverage and a well-defined hairline. Here’s a before and after: Second Procedure I arrived at the medical facility in the early hours of the morning. Subsequently, I engaged in the requisite paperwork and proceeded to have a consultation with Dr. D****. After thorough discussion, it was mutually determined to augment the density within the area that had previously undergone transplantation and to lower my hairline by an approximate measure of three-quarters of an inch. Surgery I was administered the prescribed medication. Following this, the surgical procedure commenced. My recollection of the surgery itself remains rather limited, as I drifted in and out of consciousness throughout its duration. Remarkably, I experienced minimal discomfort during the procedure, with the only noteworthy sensation being a brief discomfort when the anesthesia was administered. By approximately 2:30 pm, the surgical process was essentially concluded. A series of photographs were taken for documentation purposes, and I was furnished with comprehensive post-operative care instructions. Day 7 I also wanted to give a shoutout and express my gratitude to @Melvin- Moderator. You have been instrumental in providing valuable information and insight. If any of you have questions, please don't hesitate to ask. I'll keep you guys posted soon! Edit: Seems Dr. D**** has been blacklisted? 😵‍💫
  4. The scar is hardly visible 🙏 I'm most likely going to get another transplant in the near future. My crown is a little light and I'd like the front area to be a little more dense
  5. Month 11 Here's a side by side comparison of Month 5 vs Month 11. I'm very pleased with my results. I can't thank John Diep enough... Just the fact that I have waves now is mind blowing to me. Best money I've ever spent. Left Side Right Side Front Top
  6. Month 9 Here's a side by side comparison of Month 5 vs Month 9 Top Left Side Right Side Front Side
  7. Month 6 I've decided to keep my hair short moving forward, it's a lot easier to maintain. This is a #1 "with the grain haircut", but I should've went for a #1.5 to make my hair look thicker. There's no comb-over this time, so this will show you how my hair really looks.
  8. Someone hit me up to know how my hair looks like when it's not combed over. So here you go guys.
  9. Hey Melvin🙏, I'm really happy with my results so far, but I'm hoping it gets a little better. I still have a lot of thin baby hairs. If you don't mind me asking, will they eventually become "fatter" terminal hair?
  10. I recommend FUT only if you're willing to wear your hair long in the back of your head. I've been trying to get waves in the back of my head. It's not easy, but it's only been 2 weeks and it's a long process. Also, the bald spot that you see, has nothing to do with the surgery, I've had since I was 20. Maybe dermarolling would make it less noticeable?
  11. Hey Jim, it's been a minute! I hadn't seen your message. I'll post a picture of my donor soon 👌 Not really. I used to always wear something on my head hahaha, so I don't think people knew how thin my hair had become.
  12. Month 5 Hey guys, I'm super happy with my results so far. Before my hair transplant, my barber used to put hair dye (bigen) and hair fibers in my hair to make it look thicker. I almost don't need that anymore. Life is good. Right Side Left Side Front View Top View (Mans trying to get waves)
  13. Hey guys, Quick update. I went to the barber today. I didn't get a haircut per say, but I got an "edge-up". It's my first time getting one in 7 months. I've definitely come a long way. Dr. Diep is the man for real. Month 4.5
  14. I’m happy you’ve had a great customer service experience, but don’t you think it’s too early to say you disagree with Jim? You literally just had a surgery 2 days ago.. Don’t get me wrong though, I’ve personally had a great experience with Diep. However, Jim’s concerns are valid and shouldn’t be dismissed With that being said, i’m looking to forward to seeing your results. Bless up 🙏
  15. If I had to do all again, I'd go with FUE. I honestly think you've made the right choice. I would love to see your journey. I'm wishing you good luck for next week 🙏
  16. Month 4 It's officially going to be month 4 this weekend, but I had some time on my hands Front View Left Side Right Side Top view I know I need to get my hair lined up, but everything is shutdown in my city 😢
  17. Here's my first real haircut. I'm sporting a number 2. I don't usually wear my hair that short, it's usually longer and wavy. However my barber recommends I build my waves back up slowly. Merry Christmas to you all btw 🙏
  18. Here's a final update of the donor area. After 3 months, the scar is hardly noticeable. Moving forward, I'll keep my hair this length and get low a fade. On a side note, when can I use a clipper on my recipient area? I wouldn't mind getting a haircut...
  19. You're actually right! I think I might have a bit of a tunnel vision... I have been primarily looking at my hairline.
  20. Month 3 Nothing really changed. My native hair just got longer. I have yet to see any hair from the surgery. Month 3 to 5 is when the ugly duckling phase should end. I guess we'll have to wait a little more. Left Side Front Side Right Side Top View
  21. That's really good to hear! When did it start getting better? Also, I have another question if I may. My scalp has been slightly dry (not itchy) because of minoxidil. In the past I'd use castor oil or leave-in conditioner to make it better. According to my post-op instructions I can't really do that now. What do you think I should do?
