  1. Hi all, I was on oral finasteride in my twenties. No issues but kept losing hair (I've tested my DHT and I'm on the higher upper bound, so perhaps not enough blocking). I'm in my forties now, had a HT, and use minox. I obv care about keeping my hair but don't want to do oral minox/finast. I tried hims finast but the product seems low quality (leaking bottles that have crystallization) and I did get some symptoms (test pain) so discontinued (I suspect finast levels may be all over the place bottle to bottle). Anyone try the Keeps version and see positive results without side effects?
  2. Hi all, Been thinking about a second HT for the last few years. I was a NW6 (on the path to 7) and did a 3500 FUE session (2500k scalp + 1K chest) in 2019 with a fantastic hair surgeon and got great results (have very high caliber hairs and chest hairs that are very similar to head hair), which covered up the first two thirds of my scalp (pics attached). I've only used minox since surgery so I've thinned a bit but I still love my results. I really don't want to do another big session and I've been chatting with a few docs about a 1K session in the crown (just to get some coverage) with a mix of head and chest (50/50). I'm more tempted to go 100% chest (my chest hair is mostly 2s) but I don't know what kind of coverage i could expect with just 1K of chest hair. Would appreciate any thoughts/feedback.
  3. A few more questions for you, Behappy. How was the healing process for you? Did you have to use pain killers after each of the surgeries? After how many days did you feel like you were back to your regular self? How well did your body hair blend in? Did you have any large bald areas to cover? I did about 1k chest hairs mixed with 2500 scalp hairs and I can't tell the difference but I do wonder about lack of equal growth phases making 1k chest <1k scalp. Not sure what this is ratio is though
  4. Used for four months - no difference. Emailed to asked about their compounding process - got no useful info.
  5. Was on minox and propecia from 23 to 30 and progressively lost hair (went from norwood 3 to 5). Went off drugs and continued to lose hair. Ended up a Norwood 6 by 38 when I had a very successful HT. Stuck with topical minox post surgery but started thinning 2 years out. I'm 4 years out now and the thinning seems to have stabilized. My donor area hasn't changed that much in the last 5 years. My bottom line is that there's a large distribution of outcomes, including people who have close to "forever" outcomes without drugs and others that thin while on drugs. Can't really generalize our n=1 to others, but good for prospective HTers to know the possible outcomes.
  6. I would also add that hair transplants themselves can and do thin over time. Melvin recently did a YT video with top surgeons where this was discussed.
  7. Hi all, Curious if anyone has done smaller sessions over time (years) and how that's gone for them? I was a NW6/7 and did a 3500 FUE session in 2019 with a fantastic hair surgeon and got great results (have very high caliber hairs and chest hairs that are very similar to head hair), which covered up the first two thirds of my scalp. My only down side was a ton of donor area pain in the week or so post surgery. My scalp was on fire and I didn't get any sleep for almost a week and half. And while I love having more hair on my head, I really don't want that kind of pain again so am thinking about doing smaller sessions over the next few years to build up the crown, etc. The obvious con of going with the approach is that it'll cost more and progress will be slow but I'm hoping the upside is less down time/pain killers/trauma. Thanks!
  8. Hi all, I've seen a few posts in forum about people experiencing donor pain (most often a burning sensation) a few days post surgery, often lasting a week or two (I've seen a few posts about this lasting months to years). Has anyone been able to find a good remedy to this problem? From scanning the web/youtube it feels like this isn't all that uncommon but there's very little surfaced about this topic. I saw Melvin created a yt video about this and recommended massage and a few other tips, but am curious if folks have tried other things (meds- NSAIDs, benzodiazepines, topical lidocaine). I had a great hair restoration done a few years ago and experienced the same issue and am very reticent about undergoing a second procedure given the previous pain but would love to another procedure if I could figure out pain management.
  9. Hi all, Curious if anyone has done any research on the effects covid may have during/after a hair transplant? Not be alarmist, but I read a report in Lancet that showed really poor health outcomes for people who had surgery while having/getting covid. I realize the sample population could be skewing the outcomes, so I'm hoping there's more information out there. My concern is that hair transplantion is a sort of trauma and if one were unlucky enough to get/have covid, bad outcomes (everything from slower healing to worse covid symptoms) would be more likely. I also realize that this would extend to any kind of virus, like getting the flu during surgery wouldn't be good either...
  10. Hi all, I'm considering getting my first fue procedure with Dr.Gabel. I'm also considering Dr. Nadimi but leaning much more heavily toward Dr. Gabel. Anyone have a poor experience or bad outcome with Dr. Gabel?
