  1. has anybody on this forum had a successful FUT scar revision? I'm having trouble finding any evidence that doing a 2nd FUT revision results in a better scar.
  2. How does one test their scalp laxity? I actually do think that another FUT is possible because I can pinch a bit around the scar. Ideally, I would like to do another FUT and really try for a relatively thin scar. I don't think I took care of the scar very well after the surgery, I was quite active during that time because I was traveling a fair bit. I was also a smoker during that time so about 2 weeks after the surgery I began smoking again. I also have 1-2 hypertrophic scars on my body, which I didn't really take into consideration when I did the surgery. I could have also done much more scalp exercises. If I had known that the scar would stretch, I probably would not have opted for the surgery. I've found that my body has trouble healing scars so I'm very concerned that if I were to do another FUT or scar revision that things could end much worse for me. If not FUT, i'm planning to do a FUE down the road, my hairloss is aggressive but it has stabilized on dutasteride and minoxidil. My hair is also very course and thick. Mainly, the scar is something that I'm very insecure about and I'd like to see if I can correct it. I'm trying to determine what is the best option for myself at this point in time. I did not use mederma or anything during that time to heal the scar properly or prevent further scarring. If I can take the preventative measures I'm really hoping that the scar can be revised. I have to mention that during that time I don't think the doctor used staples to suture the scar but with dissolvable stitches which may have negatively affected the healing of the scar. I went to my family doctor recently and she mentioned that dissolvable stitches have a tendency to cause raised scars. There are many factors and I'm unsure what is the best option at this point. However, knowing how to prevent and treat the scar better this time around, I'm hoping that I can achieve a realistic result. Any further input from the community would be much appreciated.
  3. Hi, I am looking for some advice in how to address my FUT scar (1700 grafts). It's been about 6 years and the scar has not healed properly. Some parts are fine but others, esp. where it is pink/red are slightly raised and wide. Option 1: A scar revision but I'm concerned the scar may become worse, my laxity is not very good (imo) and I am prone to hypertrophic scarring. Option 2: This is as good as my scar can be and plan to opt for a FUE surgery in the future, and try to fill in the scar after I've treated the scar in trying to reduce redness and flattening it. Sometimes the scar feels tight and sensitive, which bothers me. On the right side where the scar is the widest, I remember how tight it felt in that area after the surgery. I'm not sure if the doctor performed the scar correctly or it is just my genetics. Any thoughtful considerations on how to treat the scar would be much appreciated. I am considering going to Hasson & Wong in the future whether for FUE or scar revision. Also any thoughts on my donor, sorry my hair is long but am I good candidate for FUE? Thank you.
