  1. @Zoomster looks like the growth is Just starting to kick in. Good stuff. Your donor looks pretty neat as well. Keep the updates coming.
  2. Thanks for the update. Very close to booking a date myself. Waiting on the covid pandemonium to die down a little. Been keeping track of your progress since your case is very similar to mine. Do keep the updates coming.
  3. Starting to come along nicely now @paddyirishman. Hope it gets even better soon. Would be nice if you could post weekly updates since most of us track this quite regularly.
  4. @Looking for HT, any more updates in the last couple of weeks. Been following your thread closely. Eager to see the progress.
  5. Hi @Fluffhead, waiting for your March 11 update. Eager to know how it’s looking.
  6. I will be starting finesteride in 3 days ave would have taken it for around 2 weeks by the time my transplant happens. I have not seen people with too much shock loss let alone permanent shock loss from the clinic and hope everything goes fine for me as well.
  7. The doctor told me that I should use finesteride and rogaine but would prefer me to not start using it if I was going to have a transplant in a month or so. If my transplant would be more than 2 months away, she did mention me to start using finesteride. She said that starting now could cause baby hair to sprout before the surgery and that could be a little tricky. I had consulted with Dr Bhatti as well a while back and even he had not asked me to take pre-op medication. I plan to get on it as soon as the surgery is done and will continue to use it as long as the side effects are not too bad. I had tried minoxidil foam a while back and it just causes my scalp to itch very bad and turn a little red.
  8. I was strongly recommended to get on finesteride after the transplant as well but wa asked not to take any finesteride if I was not already on it before the hair transplant.
  9. Your front looks amazing. I will be getting a transplant with Dr Arika as well. Can you post some pictures of your rear 2/3 of the scalp where you did not get any hair transplanted.
  10. So you were taking finesteride before the transplant ?
  11. I am pretty close to booking a date for my hair transplant with Dr Arika at Eugenix and will be documenting every step of the process. During consultation, the doctor advised me against taking finesteride within the last month or so before the transplant because it might sprout small hair and could be misleading during the surgery. I also read in another thread that Probability of shock loss can be reduced by taking finesteride before the transplant. Are there cases here where someone has undergone a hair transplant and experienced permanent shock loss, specifically when some of the transplanted hair is close to or between existing and slightly thinning native hair. I am a little worried because I have thinning hair across the back 2/3rds of my head where I am not transplanting any hair. It isn’t miniaturized but is definitely thinner than it was 4 years ago. The plan is to get on finesteride immediately after the transplant to maintain this hair for longer. Could the hair transplant cause permanent shock loss across: 1, Areas where I am transplanting hair between thinning native hair (some of the front area of my forehead) 2, Areas in the back 2/3 of the scalp where hair is thinning but not getting any transplanted hair Finally, what can I do before the hair transplant that can prevent the shock loss. @Melvin-Moderator @Zoomster @Portugal25 @paddyirishman @Azzy US @ag120 @Raphael84
  12. @ag120 Were you on finesteride or medication before your transplant to halt the hair loss or did you get on it after the hair transplant.
  13. @Azzy US We’re you taking finesteride or medication to halt your loss before the transplant. Did the doctor ask you to get on finesteride before the procedure.
  14. What is “luck” and predisposition factors here. I am asking because I am pretty close to making an appointment and want to understand if “luck” is on my side and verify if I have some of the predisposition factors required for a good transplant.
  15. Thanks guys for chiming in. I have a slightly darker skin tone as well which should probably reduce the appearance of redness.😁 Looks like I will be able to keep my hair buzzed on the sides and the back even after the transplant.
  16. Isn’t shock loss temporary. He should get back the hair that he loses through shock loss right ??
  17. I think I’m pretty close to booking a date with Eugenix for a hair transplant. Figuring out work and when it would be best to go get the transplant. My job requires me to interact with a lot of people and do presentations at least once a week. Looking to understand how many days off of work I will need to take off so it does not look obvious or unnatural when I return. The other thing that I was hoping members here could help me with is hair styles after a successful transplant. I keep my hair quite short and intend to keep it that way even after the transplant, after the transplanted hair have full grown. I’ve not seen transplant results with patients having a short haircut. Can anyone point me to examples of this. I want to know if t would look unnatural or different when compared to the original hair. Tagging @Melvin-Moderator @paddyirishman @Zoomster @HLPToronto here.
  18. Do you have some before pictures so we know what exactly was done ?
  19. Adding a few more pictures with longer hair and wet hair.
  20. @paddyirishman, @Portugal25, @Egy, @Melvin-Moderator, @California: I really appreciate all the input. I think I will be talking to Dr Arika in the coming few days and ask her a few questions. I also really want to see some bad results from that clinic and understand the cause for it so I can know what the worst case was and also prepare for it. I looked some more online but just cannot find a bad result for Eugenix. I will also ask about how many more hair transplants I will need in the future and base my decision accordingly. I’ll post here what I learn from the doctor.
  21. Thank you for your response. I will get in touch with @Egy I do not want to travel to Turkey and would prefer India due to home comfort. Are there any bad results coming out of Eugenix as well. I believe that their top option is where the doctors will be doing the whole procedure. The prices have gone up in the new year but looking at the results that have been documented here, I do not see any negative results so far. Also, can you or someone else chime in on any dermatological conditions or other patient specific issues that might cause a bad result. I would like to get tested for these before I commit to getting the surgery done. Tagging a few more knowledgeable members here. @Melvin-Moderator, @paddyirishman, @Niko1, @Egy.
  22. Thank you for the response. I had a haircut about 2 weeks ago and will definitely post pictures after 10 days. The hair on the top is now probably 2 cm long and there is definitely thinning in the areas that I do have hair. My hair loss has reduced quite a bit in the last 12 to 18 months but I still am losing hair and this is evident when I shower or dry/ brush my hair. I absolutely do not want to have a very low hairline and maybe want to lower it just half an inch for a mature hairline as that actually goes well with the shape of my head. Also, when you say the doctors are erring on the side of caution, do you mean they are providing a lower graft estimate or higher graft estimate. I have attached photos of the donor area. The hair in the back is under a cm long and feels quite thick.
