  1. Sorry for the long delay in posting an update...guess I got really busy with life. I am at the 4 month post-op timeline now and overall I feel good about the progress. I am due to get a hair trim but wanted to share pics of the natural growth of the transplanted hair prior to that. - I did not experience much shock loss at all both in the donor and transplanted area. Especially in the donor area (side, back, beard) the healing was excellent and no scars at all (testament to the work by the techs at Eugenix). I hope I am past the phase for shock loss - As visible there is quite a bit of gray hair from my donors but the techs did a good job of giving a salt and pepper effect. From the front, the look is good and as expected. I do plan to color the hair black/dark brown to get some uniformity - I have been taking 1mg finasteride along with the cyclical vitamin package provided by Eugenix. No noticeable side-effects so far. Also taking biotin, collagen supplements as recommended on other threads here. - I was looking for any suggestions on sprays (natural/non-chemical preferred) that will help keep the scalp healthy. I do have seboeherric dermatitis so it is something I keep watching out for. Would saline spray still help? Any other recommendations are welcome. - Any suggestions on when I go for my trim...I heard only scissors/comb on transplanted area is recommended? - The clinic recommended to use this minoxidil/finasteride spray I used in the past for the donor area... nothing for transplanted area. Following that regime. Will post more pics later after the hair trim/color :). Overall I am very comfortable with the decision to go with Eugenix as the outcome seems as promised at least so far (I had my scepticism along the way but feel good now).
  2. Today (Day 7) as I get ready to wash my hair on my own! Need to watch some videos on how to get those scabs out :-S. .. a bit nervous to do it on my own (envious of you folks who got to do it at the clinic.. .all suggestions/tips are welcome Honestly because my beard anaesthesia and extractions (see detailed post above) were so painful I had half expected scars and wounds there (was mentally ready). But as I shaved for the first time (I did a "soft shave" since I was still a little cautious about the area) I was pleasantly surprised to see hardly any major scars.
  3. Day 5 pic. I missed adding that I travelled back to the US a couple of days after my procedure....as suggested by the clinic I wore the surgical cap all the time and diligently sprayed the saline solution. Overall have not had any issues. Apart from the one week post-op medication prescribed by the clinic, my plan was to start finasteride in the few days. I also got the Hairfact vitamins from the clinic (saw few other folks here get it). Would appreciate any other suggestion ( have seen Biotin, MSM etc mentioned here) on vitamins and supplements that would help along in the post-op journey.
  4. Hello everyone, thanks for the feedback above. I would like to share my experience at Eugenix, some key highlights of the procedure and my current status. As I mentioned earlier my going in for the procedure had quite a bit of leap of faith involved as I do not believe I researched the background of as many clinics as some of the experts/members here have. I went in mainly based on a good consultation (video call with Dr Arika) and in-person meeting with Dr Pradeep back in 2020. I had good gut feeling and the further good experiences shared here on the clinic made me avoid looking elsewhere. I did reach out to 2-3 other clinics in India (forgot the names but they have been discussed here) but in general their feedback was not solid enough for me to pursue any further. Due to covid I put the procedure on the back burner but then thought I could make use of a planned visit to India this June to get it done. The clinic/counselor/coordinator were cordial and helpful as always and marked me for an early July date. I have to say I went in with quite a bit of skepticism since I was not sure if the glorious reviews on Eugenix were from purely "VIP" patients or reflected the general patient experience. In general, at the end of it all, I would echo the positive feedback from various folks here - the eugenix team is a well-oiled machine and a genuinely sincere set of folks who really take good care of all who walk in through their door. There was no unnecessary pressure or "pushiness" at any stage. The advice all along was matter-of-fact and straight forward and every team member was professional and thorough in ensuring me as a patient was taken care of. I feel happy about the outcome and progress so far (that's from my novice eyes...experts here please feel free to nit-pick and point out any flaws ). Background - 42 yr old male with (as I feel) hair loss reasonably stabilized a couple of years back. I used minoxidil/finiastired topical spray during the last year and a half and saw some hair growth in scalp area (usage was irregular). No other special steps except that I use hair fiber on scalp area where maximum loss was seen (as per pictures shared earlier). My expectations for the HT procedure outcome were to cover frontal area and part of mid-scalp due to donor strength being limited (as confirmed by Dr Arika). To answer a query on the package I was grand-fathered (having put in a deposit pre-covid) into an earlier exclusive package where Dr arika performed the design, slits and some crucial extractions (senior techs did the rest supervised by the team of Drs)...I believe this is slightly more expensive now. Pre-Op process was straight forward and occurred the day before the procedure. On the morning of the procedure I met Dr Arika and we had a discussion on the hairline design. I am not as picky or detailed as some of the other folks who have shared their experiences here and was happy with what she same up with (I had kept two photos for reference..one from my 20s and one recent pic with hair fiber applied... and the suggested hairline fell somewhere in the middle). She estimated right away that we can possibly target around 3700 grafts (she planned and performed that many slits) although 3500 might be more like it so it was quite interesting when I ended up with 3510 grafts...exactly as she predicted. The donor areas were scalp/sidelocks and beard. The doctors that were present concluded that body/chest hair were not great candidates. For some reason, this was in line with my expectation as ~3500-3600 was as large of a procedure I somehow wanted to go in for so I readily took their suggestion and therefore I also did not push further for donor from other body areas!. Dr Arika is truly a smooth operator/artist in terms of how she assesses the condition of the hair and performs the slits. She was conversational and also kept throwing out instructions to her team all the while crunching/slitting away systematically on my scalp.Once the tech team took over for additional extraction and implants, I felt equally well taken care of. I have read quite a few accounts/opinions here of how it is good to have the doctors perform as much of the procedure...but as some experts pointed out I am not sure how that is even feasible. I had four techs working on me parallel for 6-7 hours on the first day and 12 hours on the second. Each one had close to 10-12 years of experience and from their discussions with me and among themselves (knowing a bit of the local language they spoke ) they really knew what they were doing having had experience of several hundred procedures!. At least two senior doctors kept an eye on the progress (dr shishir was the one most closely monitoring my case... kudos to him for his energy and clear guidance) all along. My progress on the first day was slow (only around 800 grafts) but then a marathon session on the 2nd day closed out my planned number of grafts. There was a nurse/anaesthesia tech present all the time asking me about the pain levels. For me, the most horribly painful part was getting the local anaesthesia on my beard and sidelocks area ..luckily it was a small portion of the overall procedure!!! The pain/pressure felt from all other parts of the procedure were relatively easily manageable!! (scalp anaesthesia, slits, extraction or implant procedure etc). As mentioned in the beginning, the counselors and support team kept checking on me all through the day and were genuinely and honestly keen on ensuring I was well taken care of. The procedure on the 2nd day ended around 10 Pm and when the tech team was finishing up I was expecting to be helped out and driven to the hotel with followup the next day but in walked Dr Arika with 2 other senior doctors to give me a debrief on the specific outcomes of the procedure..I felt that was thoughtful! She conveyed (as per my thoughts) that we could certainly look at an additional procedure a year or so down the line to cover more of the mid/back scalp as she felt my donor would also improve further with the finasteride I would start taking now. Having started with scepticism, I ended up very impressed with the professionalism, sincerity and clockwork coordination of the Eugenix Team. I hope the progress and recovery from the HT is also equally good! Attaching some pics from Day0 (right after the procedure) and more recent pics.
  5. I am finally visiting Eugenix in a few days for my much awaited HT! Thought of starting this thread to post some pre-procedure queries and then post my procedure outcomes as well. I am a Norwood 6 needing about 3500-4000+ drafts from hair and beard (it may not provide full coverage but I guess thats the max I can go until). Am 41 years old with hair loss having fairly stabilized in the last 2-3 years. Most of my knowledge has been gathered on this forum from the various posters. Honestly I feel I have not researched much due to my busy schedule..in that sense I am purely going by the experiences from Eugenix on this forum and general guidance shared by senior members. I also got a chance to meet Melvin and Dr Sethi a couple of years back and got some good insights in person. - I saw some recent posts about donor area concerns at Eugenix ("one by @Boomerang" etc) which were mostly attributed to shock loss. Is there any prep or precautions that can help avoid this or is just a question of managing after the fact (minoxidil etc). I am cognizant of the suggestions not to go big (>3500-4000 grafts in one procedure) but rather do in phase but a combination of various factors at my end make this one procedure option the best fit for me at this stage. I hope it turns out OK. - I am a bit overwhelmed by the hairline design process. I use hair fibers so was just planning to take a picture of how my hairline looks with the fibers (I have tried to be realistic with the application over the years so it gives a good idea of what I want the hairline to look like). I am however lost on the "temple points" .. not sure what I need to know or describe from my side during the design process? - I keep hearing about double/triple grafts but am unable to find clear definitions/descriptions for the same. Do I need to be aware of any specific details in order to take any decisions during the HT or just leave it to the doctors? - I am not confident about my donor areas...is the general strategy to fill out the front as priority and prioritize the crown lower..I might be OK with that look. Adding some "before" photos. Thanks in advance!
  6. Congrats for all the details! So great to see your results. I am in SoCAL and was also looking at TJ as an option. Could you please share any pointers on the various providers you looked at and why you zeroed on this particular one....would appreciate any suggestions. Also maybe I missed it but what was the costs one should be looking at in TJ.
  7. Thanks for your feedback 1978matt. Out of curiosity, could you share how you determined the donor area is poor? is it based on density you see in the pictures? And how does FUT help more than FUE in case of low donor density>
  8. Thank you for the response. Reason for india...actually will be visiting there for work so thought I could schedule the surgery during that trip. And other reason is I am from there originally :). "Mega" session sounds intimidating :). I guess it is what it is. I am consulting with both the doctors this week. - Does the number of grafts needed overall seem in the range for my type of situation? - Are there any candidate specific questions that would be good to clarify (seems FUE is a commonly used technique now and nothing to question about it really). - I heard about a "shave" and "not shave' option. Does it mean shaving the entirely of the donor and recipient areas without transplant? And non-shave does not shave the donor area? Any specific pros or cons of either that need to be pondered over? Thanks again for the patience in answering my novice questions.
  9. Hi All, Thanks for the opportunity to post here. I am a 39 yr old male. started losing hair since I was around 30 and had pretty much reached the stage indicated in the pictures by around 35. I intermittently used Rogaine (not very regular) so could not really gauge if it would have helped me or not but wanted to indicate that I did use it. At this stage, I am pretty much looking at Hair transplant as the key option to move forward. I am based in the US but wanted to explore hair transplant options in India. i would appreciate any tips to a beginner like me and apologize if I am asking any redundant questions. I did some basic research and am reading up on the various techniques that are used in this domain ... FUT, FUE, FUSE etc. Will go through the forum as well I established initial contact with the HT docs in India (mainly going by the docs on the IAHRS list - all of whom seem very well regarded on this forum as well). Below is a summary of what I have received and would appreciate feedback from the senior members here. 1) Norwood 6/7 2) Would require 2 sessions. 3) For 1st sessions focus on frontal scalp and hairline - all indicated similar number of 3500-4000 grafts (mix of scalp/donor and beard) 4) For 2nd session - feedback was varied. 1 clinic indicated meds (finasteride 1 mg daily) would suffice or go for 2nd session of 2000 grafts. Rest of feedback varied from anywhere from 2500-4000 grafts in second session. Am not sure how to evaluate this feedback. 5) based on some posts I have read here, the density/placement of the transplant is also important...am still getting familiar with the technicality of this aspect. 6) Is FUSE another new technique other than FUE? Any guidance on what this entails? 7) In general does the transplant technique really depend on the candidate or is there a common currently recommended technique in the HT world? 😎 I am scheduling online/video appts with the clinics and would appreciate some guidance on what type of questions to ask? Honestly am a little overwhelmed by the information on this form and online and cannot make out what information online is paid-advertisement and what is genuine recommendation. Would truly appreciate any feedback you can provide. 9) Any feedback or recos in general for Medlinks/Dr.Gaurang Krishna, Eugenix (Dr bansal/Dr Sethi), Dr Poswal, Darling Buds/Dr.Tej Bhatti, Medispa (Dr Suneet Soni) Thanks so much for this forum!
