If one didn't have prp with the procedure, when is the right time to do prp afterwards, and how many treatments?

1- Prp during the surgery helps according to this study -- i know that a couple of clinics inject if with the surgery, others also add stem cell (even though there isn't yet an independent study about stem cell efficacy) https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5064679/ "In prp group [...] density of >75% grafts was noticed in 12 patients at 4 weeks meaning reduced fall of transplanted hair during catagen phase. [....] In non-PRP group, none showed >75% graft density at 4 weeks" 2- Hyperbaric oxygen therapy 7 times starting the day after transplant for 1 hour each treatment, according to this study: https://www.researchgate.net/publication/343533861_The_effect_of_Hyperbaric_Oxygen_Therapy_combined_with_Hair_transplantation_surgery_for_the_treatment_of_alopecia "Methods 34 patients with II‐IV alopecia were divided into the control group and HBOT group randomly. The control group were treated with routine FUE procedure, while HBOT group combined with HBOT. Patients were treated with 100% oxygen under 2.0 atmospheres absolute pressure for 60 minutes through a facemask during HBOT and take the therapy daily for 7 days continuously after operation. Satisfaction and clinical improvement were evaluated at the fourth week and the sixth month postoperatively. Result Itching and folliculitis was significantly decreased in HBOT group (11.8% versus 35.3%). In addition, HBOT resulted in a lower postoperative shedding rate (27.6±2.6% versus 69.1±2.4%), nevertheless, the survival rate at 9 months showed no significant difference between HBOT (96.9±0.5%) and control (93.8±0.6%). The early postoperative satisfaction in control group was much lower than HBOT group (52.9% versus 88.2%), whereas all patients showed satisfaction with the final result. Conclusion HBOT is able to minimize the postsurgical follicle shedding and lead to less folliculitis and itching, which provides evidence for HBOT to act as an adjuvant therapy for hair transplantation surgery."

Hi guys, What was the protocol of your surgeon for post op visits to track progress? I have noticed some goes every 3 months. Others only post surgery and then after 8-10 months. What was your experience and what is common?

I heard it can speed up growth after the surgery. Have any of you guys tried it? It shouldn't affect the final results, just how quickly you go there. Any feedback?

Few questions my friends. 1- When do you start shedding the transplanted hair after a hair transplant? 2- when does the shedidng stop? 3- I heard some people don't shed? Why? Genetics or technique? 4- do you have to shed all the trasplanted hair? Have any one shed partially? I heard that after a month what you left with will not shed. Is this correct?

@Melvin-Moderator so it is fair to say that after 6 months most of the transplanted hair have grown to some degree? i.e. no more hair will appear after 6 months but the diameter and quality of what have appeared will improve over the following 6+ months?

Hi guys, I am scared of your the idea of missing up my grafts by scratching them, putting my hand on head while sleeping , etc. I plan to sleep elevated and use a traveller pillow to avoid rotating to my side. Any recommendation esp for the first few nights when grafts are not yet secure? I actually read that someone here tied their hands (bondage style? Lol) beforev going to bed. I would be more than willing to do that but unfortunately, i will be solo so this is not an option for me. any other ideas?

Hi All, I am excited that I am going to get my FUE surgery soon. I will start a journal for sure. My surgeon recommended to start on Fins before surgery, probably to minimize shock loss. I have never used Fins before. So I have a few questions: 1) Do you have to use fins during the first 6 months of hair transplant? What was your experience with or without it? 2) For those who used fins in general before, when did you start noticing any side effect, if ever, esp. with respect to sexual performance, erectile dysfunction and decreased libido? Anf if you did, when do they go away? 3) I already ordered some hormonal tests including PSA (prostate specific anti-gens), tests, test/estrogen ratio, etc. after my research, I found recommendations to monitor those levels. One doctor even claimed that he can predicts who will have side-effects based on test/estrogen ratio as well as free tests levels Has anyone looked into this? Thanks and happy growing all!

I was about to go with Dr Mohebi before covid-19 but now have some second thoughts after reading some reviews here that his technicians do significant amount of the work. I know for a fact that Dr Gabel does all of the extraction work himself. Any recent patients of either of those doctors that could help add more color ?

go for consultations and don't wait. Are you on Med? if not you should consider it! many doctors might ask you to wait to see how your hair will stabilize but bottom line go for a consult and start on med to stop it! be proactive body!

so after lots of research here, I am closing on 3 candidates in no particular order. I am NWIII, thinning in frontal third that can be camouflaged with toppik and want to lower hair a tad bit (1/2-1 cm). I wanted to push for a more lowering but Mohebi (the only one I was able to meet in person) said that is the right thing. I need a fully unshaven procedure, and need to do that before summer, I also want a doctor who does most of the work. Hence my current list: - Mohebi / Gabel / Marc Dauer . ( in no particular order) I talked with the first two. I got to know about the third from a doctor who posted here and his website (https://mdnewhair.com/male-hair-transplants/) shows really good results and overall very good reviews. Still working to get a consult with him. My hair in doner area is wavy and thick according to Mohebi meaning with few grafts I can cover more area, I was quoted 1500-1700 from 2 doctors. i have had hard time finding someone like mine in their before and after pics so it is hard to compare. At the end of the day I know it is a decision I have to take myself but I wanted to take some opinions from here in case anyone have red flags I need to be aware of or if I am missing some others. Hi Friend, appreciate you take the time to read. late 30 here. NWIII, thinning in frontal hair line, no active excessive shedding. A recent microscopic evaluation during a consult reveals an 80% miniaturization in frontal hair line (nor surprising) and 30% in top. 20% is the average. The doctor recommended Propecia that will maintain my hair and even thicken the existing one and also will minimize shock loss if I decided to proceed with the transplant. He said at least for 6 months after HT. I know that Propecia is the best but I also heard many side effects about Propecia. I want to ask for your honest opinion. I know that there are lots of articles online, but as we do in this forum, patients' experiences are king and I would rather listen to real people rather than biased articles. 1) have you experienced any sexual side effect? and if so what & when it started? 2) did it get better with continual use and if so when? 3) if you have experienced sexual side effects, did it go away after you stopped using it, and after how long? 4) what is the safest/effective dosage that worked for you? 5) When do you expect to see effects in terms of growth and thickening? If I like their work and I think they have enough experience then I read reviews on RS, yelp, and forums like this to look for negatives. I already ruled out some from the negative reviews here (Even one case negative makes me suspicious) but I am not gonna mention names. peace!

hi All, late 30s. Have high hairline most of my life. My hair line is stable for more than 10 years. Frontal hair is just getting thinner (miniaturization). As I said in another thread, I do a good job hiding this due to my curly hair. I have been considering doing something proactive surgical or non-surgical every once in a while in the last 10 years but this never materialized into a top priority for me. I recently started using Topikk and loved it, I don't add too much though, the curls and the thickening cream/spry do the trick. I just started to get sick of combing my hair forward and want a cleaner look. What is your honest opinion and recommendations? You know I really have the urge now so I don't want to be over greedy and end up suffering some shock loss and regretting the whole process.

I know it is a personal choice but still an unbiased feedback would be appreciated! This problem bothers me every once in a while, so it is not at the top of my head all the time. Does anyone have an experience with partially shaved FUE (for small #grafts, ~`1700)? I have heard a review that it can results in irregular patterns in donor area? Have anyone experienced shock loss of native hair in case the recipient area already have hair but one wants to thicken it? What can be done to prevent or reduce the chance of shock loss? I am not losing hair or shedding now, do I still need to be on propecia? Any sexual side effects? and if any are they permanent? Hi All, I am in my late 30s, I still have my hair but have been thinning in frontal line, I would say between class II and III. I do a very good job camouflaging it with products and forward combing. My hair has been stable like this for more than 10 years (extra thinning comes in phases every decade). I have been thinking about doing something proactive about this for more than 10 years but didn't have the courage. A week ago, for no apparent reason, I decided to do that. I am just sick of the amount of products and blow-drying I do and honestly wanna more freedom in styling my hair. Well, you only live once, so why not enjoy every moment of it?
