  1. Not much change from the above... but here are the one year results. Overall I am very happy with the result. I know I will need more work down the line to maintain / fill out the midscalp and crown... but I can honestly say the social anxiety of losing my hair / balding has significantly reduced. Pictures below, please feel free to ask any questions. Fresh cut - zero product.
  2. I get the feeling that this is going to be a super result. Good luck with the healing process!
  3. Day 324 / Week 46 / Month 10.65? Got a haircut today, thought I would share some pictures. Please note I have styled my hair with volumizing powder - which gives the appearance of better density, and the lighting isn't as harsh as in my previous pictures. The crown is certainly a bit thinner than it appears here, but this is what you can get away with if you have decent enough density and style it appropriately. I will likely still avoid harsh elevator and bathroom lighting at all costs. 😅 An important thing to note here, if you have fine hair (like me) length control is critical. Too short and you don't have enough coverage, too long and the hair is difficult to style / lies flat with no body. Sides are cut down to a #2. I think this is a bit too short - in direct light, the donor site is visible to those in the "know", which doesn't bother me all that much anymore. It's really funny going to a random barber and watching for their reaction as they realize the transplant. I have had three separate barbers all say they couldn't believe how natural the hair line looked - I think this is a combo of a good surgery and fine hair making the actual implanted hairs less obvious. Cheers,
  4. Hi Everyone, Please see below an update from 9 months. To be honest I am really happy with what Dr Demirsoy was able to achieve with 3000 grafts. I think I will need to do some more crown work in the future, but my donor (other than left side) is still good. Any questions, please ask away.
  5. Hi Everyone, 24th of July was 8 months. Overall happy, still hoping for a bit more density in the crown area, under certain lighting it is not ideal - but concealer does help if needed. Please see below pictures: As always, happy to answer any questions, but I think Ill next post at the one year mark. Cheers.
  6. @giegnosiganoe - sure, see below the most unflattering attempt :'), also a wet version for good measure.
  7. Hi Everyone, A few days sort of 6 months. But here is the update. The hair is still pretty thin - so I am hoping this matures with a bit more time. Definitely happy with the progress so far - the crown area still has a long way to go wrt coverage - but I am pretty sure I will need another session to be 100% happy with that. A bit of styling and concealer (toppik) makes it very manageable. I have included a top view comparison picture to show how it really does "kick-in" between months 4-6. Happy to answer any questions. Cheers
  8. This looks great! Congrats on the result thus far.
  9. Got a haircut today, thought it would be good to add a picture of the donor. This is down at a #4.
  10. Today is 4 months, was only planning on updating at 6 months - but I see there are a few requests for updates. Starting to see some growth, I think?! Pretty difficult to discern given that I look in the mirror every day. I'll be honest, I am still anxious at times as to whether there will be enough density. But I keep telling myself to be patient. Would appreciate comments from everyone as to their thoughts... I will update next at 6 months... Hair is a little wet and in direct sunlight...
  11. Demirsoy doesn't use a manual punch but is known for being very conservative with the hairline reconstruction. Looking at your pictures from the previous thread, it doesn't look like your hair line is too low, so he might still be a good option. Tricky thing will be that you need to grow your existing hair out a bit so that you can assess donor and current loss to plan where to put the additional grafts.
  12. Hi All, Today is 12 weeks - I thought I would give an update. Haven't seen much growth of the transplanted hairs yet, if any. I am hoping that it will start to take off soon. 😅 I had a haircut over the weekend - asked the barber to shave a Number 5 of the sides and back, and we didn't touch the top. My hair has always grown really slowly! It's currently 3cm on the top - so c. 1cm every four weeks - which isn't as slow as it feels. The donor area looks great. The left side of of my head appears thinner than the right, but looking back on photo's from before the transplant it looks like this was always the case. Again these photos are right after a shower in direct sunlight - so this is as exposed as it will ever be... I think I will only post next at 24 weeks / 6 months. Cheers,
  13. I know this isn't the answer that you're looking for but, the DermMatch original product lasts quite a long time. Might seem pricy but it's worth it in my opinion.
  14. Anyone have a similar experience to the above? I am really curious to know.
  15. Hi Everyone, I thought I would add this observation as I haven't seen anyone mention this. Below is a picture of one of my hairs. (I have sacrificed to give back to this forum. 😭) Interestingly the tip (oldest part of the hair) is really thick, it then thins out, and thickens back towards the end (newest part). Visually I can see this on a few of the hairs on my head, but not all. I assume that the non-uniform thickness implies that this is a graft that never shed. (which is why not all of my hair is like this) I assume the thinness in the middle of the hair is due to the follicle having gone through some stress over the first few weeks post op. Has anyone else seen this before?
  16. Hi All, Today is exactly 8 weeks post op. So I thought I would add a few more pictures with a few comments: 1. No new growth yet - but this is to be expected. 2. Shockloss of native hair in the recipient area and left donor side (see forth picture below) 3. My hair grows very slowly at 1 cm every 4 weeks... I'll update next at 3/4 months.
  17. Looks awesome man! Congrats and keep us posted over the next few months.
  18. @rob7331 - South Africa I think Dr Demirsoy's first South African patient
  19. Below is the 4 week (28 days) update. The shedding / shock loss appears to be in full force now... No longer getting any hairs on my hands when washing my hair. Left side of the donor clearly does appear thinner than the right, so maybe some shock loss here, but it's not too bad it's only when wet / direct sunlight that it looks thin. I'll be honest, I have read about this phase hundreds of times, but I am still pretty nervous about how this will turn out. 😅 Unless there are any specific questions, I'll probably only update next at 3 months / when there has been some growth. Happy holidays everyone, and let's hope that 2021 will bring the world something better than 2020, and bring me more hair. 😋 Cheers
  20. I think there may be a bit of shock loss on the left side of my donor. But it might also just be the lighting. I have very fine hair, so lighting makes a big difference. I'll be able to tell in another two weeks, once the hair is a bit longer, if there has actually been any shock loss. I can't say that I noticed any hair shedding during the first week at all.
  21. Hi All, Updated pictures from Day 13. (c. 2 weeks) The shedding has begun, hopefully the new growth will kick in fast. 🙄 Donor site looking as good as I could expect. Cheers,
  22. Hi All, Thanks for the comments, good wishes. Below are the Day 8 pictures. I took the scabs off today after several layers of lotion and placing a wet cloth on my head and leaving it there for about 20m. Scabs just rolled of, much easier than the donor site where I had to apply a bit of force to get the scabs off. Holding thumbs for as minimal a shed as possible now. 😅 Cheers,
