Anyone hear about 3D hair printing? I ran across this study (click link "study"). It sounds like a different take on hair cloning. I would be interested in hearing from informed sources on whether this is really viable.

As you can see from the pictures, I don't have but a small fringe of hair and wearing it as long as I do to conceal the scars looks stupid. I would like to cut it as short as possible. I don't think I would be able to shave my head and have it look decent, which is what I really want to do. I did talk to Mark Weston in Florida and he seems to have a good way to do the procedure, but I need more feedback from some others who have done it with Weston or other providers before I do it. I was hoping I would get more action on this thread to that end. By the way, Weston quoted $4,000 to do my whole head. Right now, I'm just interested in hiding the scars. I wonder if others charge about the same. I guess I'll have to make some calls to research if I don't get replies here.

Here are some photos as requested. As you can see in the first picture, I have nothing more than a small fringe of hair. Right now, it is long enough that it does mostly cover the scars, but the fringe looks stupid, and I want to cut it short. That's when the scars show the most. In the next two pictures I swept my hair upward and you can see some of the scars. They appear as small circles that are lighter than the surrounding skin. I'm looking for any suggestions on what to do.

Forty years ago I had a hair transplant. The technology was not very advanced and the only procedure available was removal of plugs from the back of the head and transplant them to the balding scalp. For me this worked great and I certainly have no complaints about the results. Unfortunately, my hair loss did not stop and in fact accelerated within the last ten years to the point where the donor scars can no longer be hidden due to hair loss on the back of my head. The top of my head is relatively smooth and it is very difficult to see where the plugs were transplanted, so that's not a problem. Another hair transplant is not feasible in my opinion, but more importantly I don't want one at my age. I do want to somehow cover or minimize the donor area scars on the back of my head without wearing a hat all the time (hair piece is out, too). I have read online where scalp micro-pigmentation, laser treatment or even cosmetic tattooing may help. Does anyone have experience with my problem and if so how did you approach it? Are the aforementioned possible solutions viable? I live in Florida. Are there any doctors here who can address this problem without recommending another transplant? I guess the real solution is if a real hair restoration solution was developed (Replicel?), but that doesn't look like if will happen for years to come. Thank you for any input you may have.

I'm not trying to hijack your thread here, but I have close to the same problem and would really like to hear if there is any solution. In my case, I had a HT years ago (like many years ago). It was fine until about 5 years ago when my hair loss accelerated. I would just as soon shave my head at this point except the donor area scars are obvious even without shaving and I need to do something and wearing a hair piece is not one of the options I want to entertain. Any input for MusicMan's issue and mine would be most appreciated.
