  1. Looks good! How many grafts did he end up getting?
  2. Looking really good so far. 4 months is still really early, I think you're gonna be thrilled once it really starts to mature 👍
  3. Depends on the doc and clinic! I haven't heard of either of these surgeons, but I'd probably lean toward fewer grafts if you're under 35 or so.
  4. Those are all good names, be sure to also check out Rahal and Hasson
  5. I'd go for the frontal third to help frame your face. It looks like you have enough hair in the back/midscalp where hair fibers will still give you a nice boost. I think there's a decent chance a skilled surgeon like Bloxham will be able to get even more than his 1200 graft estimate, so hopefully you'll get a solid density improvement. Good luck!
  6. Looks great! Is she having you do anything to the recipient area aside from shampooing? Congrats on the lack of redness so far
  7. Tough call, I second @flyinghotnow‘s suggestion to consult with both and go from there. If you want a transformative megasession, Hasson probably has the edge. He has done some seriously impressive work with just one pass, as you probably know. If your priority is getting the most mileage out of each graft, Gabel is very meticulous and his results are very natural.
  8. That is a very satisfying series of images 👌 Thanks for the write up, looks like Rahal gave you a great looking and natural hairline that will age well if you lose more hair. Having a significant other who is supportive goes such a long way. I don’t think I would have had my own procedure without my gf’s support. Congrats and enjoy the rest of your growth!
  9. Around 2300 with Konior. Feel free to check out my thread for pics:
  10. Thought the same thing but Dr. K assured me they were just moist crusts
  11. Day 11 Crusts are mostly gone and sutures are out. The nurse practitioner who removed them was very complimentary towards the quality of the sutures and incision. Updated pics attached. The grafted hairs in front have grown a little, gonna miss these lil guys! I'm mostly going out without a hat at this point, but I'll wear a hoodie for safety when it gets windy. I don't think anyone has glanced at my hairline or suspected anything.
  12. Looks awesome! How many grafts did you end up getting? I'm on day 11 after my surgery with Konior, we were probably there around the same time. There have been some great Nadimi results posted lately so I'm sure you'll be thrilled in a few months.
  13. Looks like beautiful work by Hasson, as always. 3000 grafts are gonna go a long way — keep us updated and happy growing!
  14. Holy hell, really curious if there's a common thread when people manage to avoid shedding or if it's just luck/physiology. In any case, great hairline design and congrats on all those triples!
  15. Very nice! I take it Toppik is quite a bit more effective at this point?
  16. Day 8 It’s been just over a week and crust shedding is finally in full swing (check out that big boi on the right). I think the white color is the result of keeping my crusts very moist through frequent shampooing and the use of aloe vera gel. Per Dr. K’s recommendation, I’ve been applying the gel liberally to the recipient area to the point where it’s receiving moisture pretty much 24/7. This has been both to facilitate gentle crust formation and also in preparation for the inevitable redness to come in a few weeks — my hope is that constant aloe vera application will help me avoid that classic ring of discoloration. Stay tuned for how that ends up working. On a related note, I highly recommend using Amazon to find the top rated versions of each product your surgeon suggests for post op care -- the high quality aloe vera gel and spray bottles I found online are far better than the cheaper alternatives I found at CVS, and the gel is absorbed by the skin much more quickly with none of the weird green residue. Feel free to PM if you’re ever looking for a specific recommendation. Visited family with my cover-up hairstyle and a sprinkling of Toppik, and no one could tell anything had changed until I lifted up my existing hair to reveal the graft zone. Even then, everyone was fascinated and really impressed -- my mom was half expecting something bloody and freakish, but when she saw it she truly believed it could pass as a short hairstyle even without the cover up (especially now that the grafts in front have grown slightly). Below are pics of the graft zone, scar, and my latest cover-up hairdo. Curious to get some opinions on the scar, as I think it's looking pretty good but don't have a lot to compare to.
  17. Are you positive you want to stick to the east coast? I’m in the northeast myself and ultimately decided traveling wasn’t an issue to have something done that is so permanent. That being said, here are some east coast names that I consider to be top tier: Cooley, Feller & Bloxham, True & Dorin, Carlos Wesley. I’m sure all of those names have excellent yields with little permanent shock loss. I know Cooley and Wesley perform a lot of no shave procedures, so they might have an edge in preventing temporary shock loss as well.
  18. Lots of great info in this thread. Didn’t consider the possibility that nape hair tends to thin later in life. But agree that the concept of “cherry picking” is less of an advantage than it seems. I just had my hairline done and my strip produced way more doubles and triples, so I imagine some of those were split if necessary. Singles placed in the immediate front with a tasteful, natural “asymmetry” produce the best looking hairlines for sure.
  19. I just had a FUT transplant for the first time a week ago. Like you, I was also on the fence about it for a while before pulling the trigger and had mixed feelings up until the day of my surgery. I’ve been really pleasantly surprised by how accepting my family and the friends I’ve told have been so far. My mom was a little shocked at first, but even she is a little excited to see how good the work looks already. Depending on your level of loss and the type of surgery, you also might be able to get away with not telling anyone. I mostly just had a receding hairline and I’m amazed by how well I’m able to conceal it, just a week in. Can’t say for sure if it’s worth it or not because I have many months of growing ahead, but I have a very good feeling about it so far. I highly recommend doing lots of research and only moving forward with whomever you consider to be the best hair surgeon in the world. When you go with one of the very best, you’re virtually guaranteed a natural looking result.
  20. Didn't know about those protein shakes, might as well give them a shot as well! I think we both had FUT procedures on the same day, happy growing
  21. Very clean! What's Cooley have you doing for graft zone care? Looks like you have minimal redness/scabbing
  22. Always great to see how transplants look after a couple years! Great advice and a really natural looking hairline. Cooley is one of the very best
  23. Looking great so far! Lots of growth still to come, I for sure wouldn't worry. My girlfriend has a 3x mirror kinda like that and it has been super useful for my post op care. Going to have to order the 15x version so I can keep an eye on my little guys
  24. Day 4 Had my final meeting with the doctor Saturday morning before my flight. He was as amiable as ever, and gave me instructions for finally showering and gently shampooing the grafts. The plan now is to keep applying ointment to the incision, starting to apply aloe vera gel to the grafts (to encourage crust shedding), and pretty much just wait for the growth to happen. Still a little swelling under my eyes, but looks like it’s on it’s way out. I was also able to get my graft count: Total: 2,338 grafts Singles: 309 Doubles: 1373 Triples: 656 Definitely pleased with the number of doubles and triples. My guess is he had just enough singles to create a soft hairline, with the rest allowing me to have a super thick frontal third. He did mention that I have very fine hair, so I guess we’ll see how everything pans out. He also said I had at least 4000 grafts or so left for the future.
