Hey man, seriously, don’t panic. My scalp was red for almost 6 months and my hair turned out awesome. it’s totally normal. Don’t go putting a lot of sh&t on your scalp while in the healing / regrowth process. Keep it organic and natural and just let it be. You’ll be fine. Just give it time and be patient. Get a good ski cap, wear it and forget about your hair until summer good luck!

Thank you. Yes, I looked at some US doctors (many of the same that receive positive reviews on this site) but based on the results I saw (on this site and others) and the feedback I received on Hasson and his work, for me the choice was pretty clear. I didn’t really do much research on Wong.

I’ve received some requests for an update, so even though I’m a bit past the 18month mark we can just call this the year-and-a-half update. Like most of you, I haven’t left the house in months due to Covid, which has given me the chance to see what the hair looks like grown out. As you can see it’s gotten pretty long, but I’m still very happy with it. The photos below were taken today outside. No product, no fillers, etc One thing about the hair being longer though is that it accentuates any thinness. So at this length I can see much more scalp than when it’s shorter. Still though, no complaints and couldn’t be happier. I live up by the Great Lakes and it’s great to be out by the water with the wind blowing and to not be stressing about a combover. My hair looks straight here, but that’s only if I use a blow dryer after showering. If I let my hair air dry it gets super kinky and curly. Which is weird, bc I never had curly hair. But like I said, if I don’t blow dry it straight it looks like Kenny G. No joke. I’d heard some guys say their hair came back curly but that relaxed over time. I don’t think I can say the same. The transplanted hair is definitely more curly than I imagined and it seems like it’s here to stay. Plus, the length of the hair probably exacerbates the situation. Oh well, small price to pay. I’ll definitely deal with this over the alternative. I appreciate all the DMs I’ve received from guys saying that this thread helped them pull the trigger. I’m glad if it helped. This forum helped educate me and helped me make the decision I did, so the least we can do is pay it forward.

4350 is what was necessary with the thinness of my hair to make this work. Anything less would’ve looked thin. Under very harsh lighting I can still see about an inch into my hairline if my hair is styled back. In my opinion, that’s what sets Hasson apart from the rest. He tells you how much you “really” need.

40. I stopped fin in August. Was on it for a total of 9months. I actually felt like more of my hair was coming out in the shower when I was using it so I stopped. so far I haven’t experienced any rapid loss elsewhere.

Dude, you’re looking good and right on track. You probably stare in the mirror everyday so it’s tougher to notice the growth/change, but to me it’s apparent. Keep giving it time. Next 6 months is when the magic happens. Below are your pics side by side from month 4 to month 5. Definitely improving. Hang in there! It’ll only continue to get better

I chose it. I always had (or at least used to have) a minor/soft widows peak. I showed him a picture of me in my twenties and said “can we recreate that?” And he did. I did have him draw on several hairlines before settling on one. (You can see in some of my operation day pics posted earlier that there’s several lines on my scalp.) Don’t be scared to be picky. i drew them on my head at home too before going so I knew what I wanted. The new widows peak is a but more pronounced than I had practiced drawing, but I like it. Hasson was really patient with that stage and we discussed options and “the look” it would likely generate. He’s good.

1 YEAR MARK 12 months ago today I was on a plane home from Dr Hasson’s clinic in Vancouver with a face swollen full of saline, and a scab covered head, wondering what the next few months would be like and how this would all turn out. The first three months were definitely rough, but at month 4 things began to turn a corner, and from there it continued to improve. And looking back today it was certainly money well-spent and I’d recommend it to anyone who was in my position. if anyone ever has questions about the process I’d be happy to answer. I never would’ve selected Hasson or been as well prepared as I was mentally for the journey without the benefit of this site. So all I can offer to do is pay it forward to others. Thanks to all the guys on this site for their support along the way, and good luck to those if you beginning your own journey. *pics below were taken today at barber shop w pretty harsh lighting. no sprays, fibers, or fillers.

Ya, once I shed (at about 3.5 weeks) there wasn’t much to shave up front for the first month or two so I just keep the rest of my head shaved with a #1 guard. Then as the front started to grow I’d just hit the whole head with a #1 until about month four, then I started to let it go. Good luck!

Good luck man! Video is a nice touch, certainly looked like a lux trip. Hope the results turn out just as plush. At the moment everything looks good. A few tough months ahead, but you looked good with a shaved head, so that’ll be an easy way to wear it until you’re through the ugly duckling phase until 4+ months. Keep us posted.

@Yolando looking good on the growth, congrats. You are certainly through the worst of it now, and Im hopeful you’ll end up with a great result. Now that you're developing solid fuzz everywhere and the new hairline is showing, have you considered taking a very short clipper setting and shaving the entire head down to a 1 or 0? When I was at the 3-5 month post-op stage, my native areas of hair would always outgrow the transplanted area, and I found that shaving the whole head uniformly made everything much less noticeable and helped me deal socially. it had no impact on the final result and (I believe) it also got rid of a lot of the kinked and twisted hair growth that usually comes first in the transplanted areas. ....just a suggestion. If the scar prevents you from doing so however, I get it Either way, congrats on your progress so far and happy growing. You’re going to have a solid head of hair by Spring!

Hey Fellas. 11 Month update below. Hair is starting to smooth out at bit. Getting less kinky and curly by the week, which is great because it’s becoming more manageable. Daily shampoo and conditioning with quality products seems to be helping in that regard as well. Overall the hairline is super strong. Hasson said the plan was to build a “wall of hair up front” and that’s exactly what he did. Given the extent of the pre-existing hair loss it’s still naturally a bit thinner behind that wall, but absent heavy studio-type lighting, you’d never know. In one of the pics below I styled it so you can see where some of that thinness is, but one spritz of Toppik and its unnoticeable. This procedure has been a huge change in my life. With the exception of the first 3-4 ugly duckling months, not a day has since passed that I haven’t been so glad I made the decision to go to Hasson. Any questions, LMK.

Thanks @PlzRespond. Dr Hasson did mention the density/measure, but it was said so quickly in the context of the initial discussion the morning of the procedure that I don’t recall the estimate. I do know that his goal was to pack as densely as possible given the thinness/fineness of my hair type. I will inquire and post it to this feed when I hear back.

9 Month Update: Hey Fellas. So tomorrow is the 9 month mark since the two day FUE procedure back in December. As you can see below, difference is night and day. In response to some requests above I’ve taken several pictures in harsh lighting with wet hair straight out of the shower to really give you an unaided view. First pic is pre-op. Photos numbered 1-8 were taken this morning under very harsh bathroom lights, with both wet and dry hair. Photos numbered 9-11 were taken in more realistic natural lighting. The only thing I’ve really noticed is that hair in my hands when shampooing is shedding at a pretty consistent rate. I think most of it is from the non-transplanted areas, but I have to wonder if I was responding better to the pill form of finestride than I am the topical. I’ve been on the topical form of finestride now for about two months, which corresponds with when the level of shedding increased. I may return to the pill after I’m done with this round of the topical. The transplanted hair consistency remains a bit curly, frizzy, and kinked, but as it gets longer it’s starting to lie better. I shampoo and condition it daily with a biotin-vitamin blend, which I think is still helping. I’m looking forward to the hair getting longer because it will require less product than I’m currently using to keep it styled. I can’t imagine the styling gunk helps the hair health, but without it right now the hair just gets to frizzy. I find it doesn’t get naturally oily like it used to if I don’t shampoo for several days. The hair just seems drier. Although as the hair gets longer it will naturally appear more thin, so there’s the trade off I guess. All in all though, I’m still super pleased with the results and would do it again in a heartbeat. Any questions, don’t hesitate to ask. Cheers.

Very kind. Thank you I only hope that others receive the same satisfaction from their procedures as I have from mine. For years my daily routine consisted of literally spray painting my scalp with root concealer and then adding hair fibers all to create the illusion of a full head of hair. And I would constantly be concerned in rain, wind, or hot/humid conditions. To have all that behind me feels amazing.
