goodhairday1989 started following After 2 years I took the plunge.... SMP + Transplant
Thanks Matt! Appreciate your comment! I'm now one week post-surgery and post-scabs..and can see the hairs (before they fall out ...again!) While it's not terribly dense, the transplant coupled with the SMP will hopefully help. The donor area is still quite red but happy with the size of holes (friends had to really examine my head to see them) ... which is encouraging as Im hoping to wear short back and sides.
After a few years research I decided to go ahead with a transplant and here’s my diary I’m a 28 year old Irish guy who has had thinning hair and a receding hairline since very young and just before the transplant was around NW5 (yikes!). About 2 years ago I decided to shave my hair off and get Scalp Micropigmentation to give me a hairline and fill in top and crown. Since then i’ve been shaving my head everyday. While SMP suited me to an excent the shaving everyday, lack of texture and shiny scalp was something I refused to live with long-term. I decided to go with a doctor in Turkey (Dr Cinik) after spending pretty much the last 1.5-2 years researching and contacting doctors. Unfortunately cost was a factor for me so could not shell out My expectations are a little bit lower than the avg guy as Finasteride does not agree with me (always lose erection, libido) and I did not get the crown filled in (remember im NW5). The long term goal is I want to keep a military style haircut (shaved back and sides with short on top) so Im hoping it will look ok. Im aware of scarring etc. Will keep this updated but interested to hear from other folks who may have had SMP and then had transplant. Happy to answer any questions also The first photo is pre surgery & remaining photos are 48 hours post surgery (4300 grafts - megasession)
