  1. Morning  guys,

I started this topic last week simply in the hope of learning a little about the transplant scene in Turkey and possibly surgeons that I should consider. Thank you to the few people who offered constructive help. I may try reposting again in the hope that the thread doesn't get hijacked as it has in this case. I'm all up for helpful conversation but am left  uncomfortable with some of the tone and language used. For that reason I hope the moderator will allow me to start a fresh thread and leave this one to go where ever it eventually leads.

First off, many thanks Jean. Just spent a pleasant hour studying your  write ups on here. You write informatively and obviously from your age you are not a typical transplant guy. For myself I should have explained that  I am probably a NW5  hairloss. Two surgeons in Uk suggested 3200 ish grafts but both tried to push me gently in the direction of FUT but probably to help my budget. I am very much looking forward to a response from Dr Erdogan when he has studied my pictures.

John, a big thanks  for your response...I appreciate that much of the work is done by technicians and I guess I need to satisfy myself that they are well trained and motivated. Heres a couple of pics of my starting point.

  2. Hi  to all that have replied to my initial thread, just wanted to thank  those who have highlighted  certain issues that I will certainly run through with Dr Erdogan and any other Doctor  I Approach. Melvin, you ask why I favour the FUE,I guess the pics I uploaded are  not the best and were taken very recently when I kinda let things go, I usually have a guy run a number two clipper over my head . The attached is probably more representative. Be very interested to hear whether you feel FUT is the better option. It is interesting to note how many overseas clinics seem to major in FUE. Here in the UK it very much feels to be the expensive option over FUT from what I can see.

  5. Like many on here I have been researching for some time. Unfortunately  I wasted so much time  thinking that I could get work done here in the Uk at affordable cost but it clearly cannot be done, especially if you want FUE. I am now seriously considering travel to Turkey. My initial conversations with like minded guys is that  this could be the way to go. The forum  has two recommended surgeons, Dr Erdogan and   Dr Yasman both of whom I have approached. Likewise with an outfit called Quonmedical  who have been helpful but I suspect are middle men representing clinics. If any of you good folk out there have any advice to further my research I would love to hear from you.

  6. I appreciate your response, in many respects you have gone to the heart of the problem which is not necessarily cost or number of grafts but more the fact that I don't have the luxury of time for multiple proceedures that our younger friends on here have. At this moment in time I am contacting some of the recommended specialists in Belgium. Puzzles me that there are about 3 times more of them listed on here than for the UK.

    Thanks again for the input:)

  7. At 57 and Nw5 it is a little late in the day to take on HT compared to many who have gone before me but the timing is as good as I can hope for.

I am 6 months into my research and visiting specialists. I firstly met with a representative of an international company. Unsurprisingly they said I was a good candidate for HT. They had impressive robotic FUE equipment but steered me towards FUT claiming good Laxity in the donor area ( I disagree on this point, it all feels as tight as a turnip to me ).

The second specialist was Harley street based. Excellent reputation. Offered either FUT or FUE...the choice was mine. Both interestingly came up with the figure of 3200 grafts. In summary two opinions, the first ,expensive and uninspiring, the second very expensive and totally inspiring.

I appreciate that you cant chase the price in this field but you also have to cut your cloth accordingly. I want to move forward, my question is can good quality FUE be had at reasonable cost in the UK. It has been suggested to me that I may need to look further afield and should seriously consider specialists in Belgium.

If anyone has already travelled this path or has some insight and would care to share their findings I would be interested to hear from you.:)
