  1. Thanks a lot guys. Still amazed and I am fully satisfied with the results. Anything from now on will be a bonus.
  2. Thank you. Yes, a bad outcome is even more worse than not getting a hair transplant in the first place.
  3. So today marks exactly 9 months since my procedure. Still seeing huge improvements almost every week. I am speechless to say the least, blew away my expectations completely. Let me know what you think
  4. Thank you. I am sorry to hear about your experience. Being a victim myself, I also know how it feels, words cannot describe it.
  5. I am happy that things worked out for you. Thanks, delighted with the results so far
  6. Yes, you read that right. Although it does hurt that 20000$ is a lot of money, what hurts me more to this day is that I lost over 2300 precious hair grafts. And when I did my 7th month follow up with Dr Mohebi, I didnt know what to expect, and his receptionist told me this was one of the best results she had seen. After my second procedure, I can clearly say how blatantly she lied and what a fool I had been. Had I gone to Dr Diep (who did my 2nd procedure) for my first procedure as well, I am sure I would have been sitting in my home laughing that I even had any type of hair loss to begin with.
  7. Yes very happy I have been taking Propecia 1mg 4 times a week, Minoxidil 5% twice daily (only on crown), and Biotin 5000mg daily. Nothing more.
  8. Hi quidproquo82, I have been documenting the progress of my second procedure in the following thread: http://www.hairrestorationnetwork.com/eve/187828-3200-grafts-dr-diep.html I am now 8 months post op and this is how my hair looks today
  9. Hi guys, I will be sharing my first hair transplant experience in this thread that was performed by Dr Parsa Mohebi, but before that, I want to give some background about myself. I am a 29 year old fairly good looking guy (that's what other people say) who has been losing hair since my early 20's. I am destined to be a Norwood 6. I have had 2 hair transplants so far, the first one being at the age of 27 (A little over 2300 FUE grafts) performed by Dr Parsa Mohebi, which did more harm than good. I already have a separate thread where I have shared the progress of my 2nd procedure. I want to point out that this post is not to mar the reputation of the aforementioned clinic/doctor, but to share my experience, so that it may help fellow people who are in the same boat as me, allowing them to make a more informed decision for their hair restoration journey. I also feel I was partially responsible for not doing enough research and ending up like I did after my first procedure (Pics to follow). Anyways, here is how it went. As I said earlier, I started losing my hair in my early 20's. I had been on and off on Rogaine for 7 years (No Propecia, which was a huge mistake), and finally when I had sufficient funds to think about restoring my hair, I started looking up hair transplants. I set up consultations with a few local doctors (I live in Southern California), and Dr Parsa Mohebi was one of them. A couple of doctors rejected to operate on me considering how much native hair I had, and suggested I get on Propecia sooner than later. On the other hand, although the consultation with Dr Mohebi was pretty thorough, I could feel he was in full on sales mode. I told him I do not intend to take Propecia as I do not want to risk the side effects and also suggested I need sometime before going the hair transplant route. After a couple of weeks, I got a call from his office (can you believe it?), where one of his receptionist's wanted to know whether I was considering a procedure, and quickly set up a pre hair transplant meeting with Dr Mohebi. Since I was in a helpless situation in any case considering my hair loss, I felt into the trap and agreed to do the transplant. During the pre hair transplant consult, we discussed the do's and dont's before the procedure. I again told the doctor about my reluctance to take Propecia, to which he suggested I should reconsider my decision about not taking the medicine. Anyways, the procedure was done, we got a little over 2300 hair grafts, around 900 of them using the Artas robot, and I was a happy camper, hoping to get a great result considering that I have very nice thick hair. However, 8 months after my procedure, there was very poor growth along with major shock loss, and I looked even more worse than I did before my procedure. A few people even pointed out that I had lost a lot of hair. I felt that I had just been duped of 20000$ which had gone down the drain and that the world had come down to me. Words cannot explain how bad I felt. I had to quickly get a second hair transplant from a different doctor to fix the mess the first one created. I am very happy after my second procedure, which I truly feel has changed my life. For fellow people in the same boat as me, I have some advice. Research, do your research thoroughly before jumping to the hair transplant route. You may end up looking worse if you do not make a well informed decision. If you still have a lot of native hair, DO NOT, please DO NOT get a hair transplant if you are not on Propecia. I would suggest everyone to at least give Propecia a try. I really think I should have tried Propecia a lot sooner, as I had to get on it anyways later on and feel like I have been playing the catch up game since then. Here are the pics I promised. The first 2 are before any procedure (look at the quality of my donor area, which makes the result even more poor), and the last 2 are 8 months post my 1st hair transplant.
  10. Thank you HTsoon. I may have gone too far ahead with the assumption on the number of grafts for the crown. You are right, around 1500 - 1750 grafts in the crown with some toppik will do wonders. Thank you for your input.
  11. Hi guys, Here are 8 months and 1 week post op pictures. Growth is almost complete and maturation continues. I think i will be very happy at the 12 month mark. Dr. Diep has changed my life. I have a crown shot too, showing the situation at the crown. The donor is looking good and I think I can easily get another 2500 grafts, which I am contemplating putting in the crown, to make things homogeneous and even. Let me know your thoughts.
  12. Hi guys, wanted to post a quick update. I am 5 days shy of 8 months. I feel there was a huge difference between month 7th and 8th in terms of the quality of the transplanted hair. It is getting thicker and thicker every week. And I know, there is more to come in the next 4 to 6 months. Anyways, the following photos were taken under normal room lighting. I have not had any work done on the crown yet. My donor is still is very good shape and I think I can get away with another 2000-2500 grafts, which I am probably going to concentrate on the mid scalp and the crown region.
  13. Thanks. Yes, thrilled with the progress so far.
  14. Hi guys, quick update. I am now 7 months and 1 week post op. Under favorable lighting conditions, it looks amazing. Under harsh lighting, it is still a little see through but considering its been only 7 months, i expect to get around 30% more density in the next 7 months.
  15. I will have to ask Dr Diep for some pre op pics. But I do have an 8 months post op pic after my first procedure, just to give you an idea as to where I have come from. As you can see, the first procedure was a disaster, no volume, poor growth, really no hairline so speak of, that too after having great thick hair and around 2300 grafts on top of existing hair. I feel the first procedure did more harm than good. I will document my experience for the first procedure in a separate thread.
  16. Hi guys, Haven't posted for a while. I am now 7 months post op. Slight improvement from the 5.5 month mark. Hair is definitely maturing albeit slowly. I feel the thickness of the transplanted hair is only 60% of the original thickness. So I am hoping I would get more density by the 1 year mark and then the 14th month mark. Under harsh lighting, it is still see through but I am happy considering where i started.
  17. I had a procedure with Dr Diep and am almost 6 months post op. I am thrilled with the outcome so far. I am in no way supporting or advocating what Dr Diep does nor am I bashing him or any other doctor in this post. I would just like to add to what you said. I tend to agree with you that Dr Diep does produce 'signature' hairlines more often than not. However, they are designed considering the facial characteristics of the individual and look extremely natural when fully grown. Going back to your comments regarding the donor holes, I feel there is a trade off between the punch size and the robustness of hair grafts. A little larger punch size helps in producing more healthy robust hair grafts. I am saying this from my own experience. The growth from my first hair transplant was poor, and the doctor (widely known and recommended here on HRN) used .8 mm punches. If you ask me that at the expense of poor hair graft growth I would consider a smaller punch size, I would say no 7 days of the week. What I am saying is that there is more to it than just the punch size. Moreover, my donor area 6 months post op after Dr Diep's procedure looks great. Nobody can tell I have had anything done.
  18. Hair is really starting to thicken now. I know the full result is still 6 months away but I am extremely happy with the progress so far. It has been life changing. Thank you Dr Diep.
  19. Hi guys, just wanted to post my progress for the last 3 months. As you can see, there is a big change in 3 months between month 2 and month 5. The first pic is a little over 2 months post op. The second pic is 3 months post op. The last pic is a little over 5 months post op. Lighting makes a huge difference. Under harsh lighting, the scalp is clearly visible but under normal/favorable lighting conditions the hair appears full.
  20. Thanks. Yes I'll keep updating it monthly. I'll have to ask Dr Diep if he has some before pictures.
  21. Hey guys I wanted to go ahead and share my 5 month update. Things are looking good and most of the growth has happened. I can see very few thin wispy hairs but now its just a waiting game for all the hair to mature. As you can see, under harsh lighting, it still looks thin and see through but in favorable lighting conditions, it looks like I have a full head of hair. Let me know what you think.
