  1. Appreciate that mate, and your welcome, always happy to help. My hair is really fine, I want to say approx 30 micron if i remember rightly but there was a lot discussed and I didn't take note of that detail. Either way it is definitely close to the bottom of the spectrum. Good luck for your procedure coming up, hopefully you can resolve your temples - is he willing to work on them now?
  2. Thanks Newhair and Literalno. I will give it a shot for you Literalno haha Temple points blend in completely naturally in all situations. I get comments about how well I am looking but no one has had the courage to mention the hair specifically yet lol. For me, and I'm sure many others, self image is why we pursue hair surgery - the new frame to my face has completely changed the way I look, I actually look ten years younger and in turn feel it. The new confidence has enhanced my professional life in terms of networking and motivation. Personally, the list is long but ultimately it's that inner contentment which allows me to enjoy life to the maximum and fulfil my potential. Although I have done well in life so far, hairloss has held me back and I have missed many opportunities as a result. Now the chains are off after around 13 years of battling and I can begin again feeling limitless, and man am I gonna smash it!
  3. Well It’s 6 months tomorrow and I have to say I’m really happy with the results. This has been life changing on my personal and professional life and I can’t thank Dr Rahal and his team in Ottawa enough. I had it cut the shortest I’ve had it yesterday which can be seen in the last 6 pictures. Thrown in a couple wet ones also. Still hoping for more of an improvement over the coming months. Any feedback appreciated. Cheers everyone.
  4. In the short time I was staying for surgery I met 14 other people who were having or just had surgery - not one of them were intending to post on a forum regardless of result
  5. It’s not a necessity mate, I didn’t take it and know of many others who haven’t. Rahal’s clinic do recommend it but just state you don’t want to start using it
  6. It must be case dependent, does your hair really need fortification in that area? Can you share pictures? I literally had no hair in the points apart from a few stray from my first op. I made it clear they were important to me and he had no problem with the idea..
  7. literalno check out my update and you can see the temple points coming in. Just make sure during the consultation on the day prior you communicate your exact requirements with Dr Rahal and he will tell you if it is practical or not. He will draw out a plan where a breakdown of number of grafts per area will be allocated, so you can discuss expected density etc then. I wanted the temple points even further out but because of the amount of grafts needed he wouldn't do it. Either way he drew a hairline that I was still more than happy with.
  8. Thanks man, they are looking decent at about a meter away but up close I’m hoping for more density to be honest. Few more pics at 5 month 6 days - hair slightly damp
  9. Cheers Melvin it’s been a long time coming!
  10. 5 month pictures Took pictures straight out of bed and it shows there is still remaining shockloss below the scar on the right side of my head. Really hoping this resolves soon.. Happy with progress so far especially the temple points coming in stronger even when cut short Any questions or comments welcome. Cheers
  11. Remaining balance due the day prior to surgery, and yes if you end up with less grafts than paid for then typically you should receive the appropriate refund but I would clarify this with the clinic before hand. The refund may not apply if you have struck a discounted deal with the clinic, which can happen with last minute bookings etc.
  12. I will second that, been using him for a few years after Spex put me onto him. 14 month supply generic finasteride for ~ 140gbp, easy online prescription
  13. I'll get some close ups on the next update but so far it looks good to me - integration into the side hair and hairline above looks perfect, just awaiting more growth to sprout, then thickening should have them framing my face nicely I'm hoping. A young woman said I look like Wolverine the other day which I was taken a back by as I never get compared to guys with good heads of hair lol
  14. thatoldchestnut, thank you I hope so. Literalno, thanks, few more pics 4month 4 days in different lighting. Last one taken a bit further away in less light but shows the shape coming in of the left temple point, which is the weaker of the two.
  15. One day shy of 4 months and starting to get a bit excited I must say. Last three pics are straight out of the shower and combed back, shows the temple points coming in nicely which were my main concern prior. I just hope these next two months are an explosion and I should have the density I was after.
  16. I feel this is an important point that I've never seen discussed before. I live in the UK and have travelled to North America twice for surgery. I only book based on an online consultation, and both times estimates for grafts required have been significantly lower than what I walked out with as I have very fine hair. Luckily it was never an issue for myself, but for some people who budget tightly, they could end up walking out with less grafts than is required to meet their goals due to financial limitation.
  17. Congratulations Eden! Like you I have been chasing the dream for a long time, now exactly 3 months ahead of you. Good luck brother
  18. Congratulations John! Haha yes I know the feeling after all those begrudging visits to the barber shop now it's time to enjoy at last!!! Cheers Do you have any pre-op and 3 month pictures?
  19. The scar itself is hidden right away, but I had my remaining hair shaved down, so it was just after the one month mark where the donor area around the scar shaved to a zero was covered. Picture on page 2 shows 4 weeks, couple more weeks of growth ironed it out.
  20. Quick update: Got a haircut and shaved down to a #3 on the back/sides. Frame of my face has changed with the new temple hair coming in, haven’t looked this good at this short length for a LONG time. Scar looking good apart from minor shockloss which should hopefully resolve. Taken pics in direct daylight and a couple slightly further back where a difference can be seen.
  21. Very nice Doug. Out of interest how many grafts went into each of the triangular temple points?
  22. Exactly 3 months today and can't see any sign of growth yet. I've had so many pimples so hopefully that is a good sign. I keep having recurring ones on the right temple point but so constantly, to the point where I worry it's going to affect the skin or even growth? Still a very small amount of shock loss above the ears but has been recovering nicely. Hair looks really bad at the moment, I'll be getting a haircut after a family party in a couple of weeks so will post some new pics then. Included a pic in the dark which shows the outline hopefully coming in, but from the lighter pics you can see how thin the hair is...
  23. If you want to go on the high street before you leave then Debenhams are normally most competitive.
  24. Hey, The Dr is only estimating based on laxity and density of donor how long the incision will be, but for the most part with 3500 grafts you will be looking at an ear to ear scar. I've just had 2800 and it is above both ears. For the most part I'm led to believe it's not possible without noticing the scar at a #1 or 2. But again this depends on hair characteristics and how well you heal. I have pretty fine hair but the scar is looking good and I will be very happy if I can shave to a #3. I am fortunate to work from home so I basically wore a hat whenever I was outside. But using fibres can sometimes work if used carefully depending on hair style. 1-2 months, can be longer. I've been to two different clinics and never seen that practice. Swelling typically lasts for upto 5 days post-op and yes it is common. cheers
