Hi guys, Anyone out there experienced shock loss under FUT scar? My actual scar after 3 Weeks is extremely thin and if all hair surrounding it was thick and normal the scar would barely be an issue at a very short guard. I trimmed my hair down to to 2 guard all over to even it out but the hair under the scar has gone into shock loss. So basically half a centimetre under the tiny scar the hair is thin and makes the scar look huge. How long does this hair take to grow back in and how did you deal with it whilst waiting for it to grow in?

Can I please have your opinion on below? After beginning to use minoxidil after first hair transplant a year ago I find that it probably hasn't helped too much. I don't want to make my hair dependant on it for the rest of my life either. It makes my scalp dry and I really can't stand using it. I think I'm going to stop it. I need a second hair transplant to fill in crown and thicken up front. I will have one soon. I really think finesteride is a far better solution and am happy to take a pill each day, there's no effort involved. Some surgeons don't like minoxidil and suggest patients don't use it. Although some do want patients to use it. Can I please get some advice/opinions?

Deb, I saw decent change. You actually don't really.notice it but when you look back at 3 months changes you definitely do notice changes. Maturity of the hair is just as important as growth when talking about density.

Hi, urgently needed advice. Can I have my second procedure 10 months after first procedure? This is my only opportunity to have time off work for a long time. My crown is still very weak and will certainly need at least 1000 more grafts into it to make it full. I am 9 months post op after 4500 graft FUT procedure. I am fairly certain all hair that is to grow has grown but just waiting on it all to fully mature I have time off next month when I will be 10 months post op. I want to FUE for my second procedure because my scalp is so tight and I was in a lot of pain for months after my first FUT procedure due to donor tightness. I want 300-500 grafts in front, 1000 in crown and approx 300 into scar. I am fairly certain with good growth this will be my last procedure.

Receding hairline or crown balding
Jdog replied to Jdog's topic in Hair Restoration Questions and Answers
Roger Federer for example is clearly receeding fairly heavily but has so much hair behind the hairline that no one really notices. Now if he was going thin at the crown everyone would be saying Federer is going bald or look at that bald patch. -
Receding hairline or crown balding

Jude Law is a classic example of what I am getting at .He has a major receding hairline for years. Hides it a bit by keeping the hair behind the hairline slightly longer. His crown is as thick as a lions mane. He looks good receding. If you have a big bald patch in the back there's no hiding that at all. Unless you wear something artificial. Norwood 3 hairline with a full crown any day of the week for me even over a Norwood 1 hairline with a big hole of flesh in the back of my head. -
There's no reason why you couldn't improve your situation. In my opinion FUE is the way to go because you will always have density issues being a NW7 and you do want to buzz itZ FUE could give you the buzzed look and a framed face, which sounds like what your are looking to achieve. Obviously a very competent surgeon will need to make sure they don't deplete your donor region so at least you still have some decent hair left there after the procedure, otherwise it will look strange if you are too thinned out in the donor area. As for the body hair I have no idea in that area. That is getting too technical for me

Currently I can clip mine at 4 guard, tried 3 but you can see scalp at 3 because I have dark hair and white scalp. It might be different with lighter hair colours. My scar is probably 3 mm wide so it's pretty damn good. It's a big compromise I guess because I had 4500 grafts so FUT is most likely going to be more successful in such a large procedure. FUE at 4500 grafts would have destroyed my donor site. It would be a relief to be able to shave to a number 2 guard to make the top looks 100 times better as it grows in.

Honestly I think FUT surgeons need to be very upfront with high Norwood patients that are getting megasessions ect they are going to look like a freak or very unattractive for a long period of time and whether they can accept that or not is a big decision making point. Most people would agreee that those with significant balding who don't buzz the sides and back look pretty ridiculous. FUT at best might allow you to shave to a 4 guard so they are not going to look their best for a while. I certainly think FUT is the way to go with large procedure that's why I went with FUT. FUE has a major advantage whilst the hair is growing in as the donor hair can be buzzed really short to maintain a more youthful appearance. FUT can obviously shave as short as they want but they have to accept the big smiley face

Guys, whilst I underwent an FUT procedure 6 months ago and am waiting for things to grow in and thicken I can't help but think FUE would have been much easier to manage whilst he hair grows in and in general when hair grows and matures. Naturally transplanted hair is not as thick as native hair, when anyone's hair is thinning out or thin in general it looks so much better when the sides and back are shaved tight to a number 1 or 2 guard. A problem I am experiencing is my hair on top is thin at the stage in areas and I'd love to be able to shave down to number 1 or 2 around sides and back. The FUT scar will only allow me to shave to number 4 at the lowest. This makes things look to the average person like I'm trying to hang onto my hair to the last minute rather than giving into the battle and buzzing it all off.

Receding hairline or crown balding

Personally I think a receeded hairline looks more appealing than a big round hole on the top of the head. Thankfully I have both lol
