  1. Hey guys, Was planning on doing a second procedure (FUT) but was recently told a doc that he thinks we could only get 2,000 grafts and he thinks I'd need more. He suggested doing some FUE as well on the same procedure, saying this will yield another 1,000-2,000 more. Have any of you done a combination of both procedures in one session? Can anyone comment on how you handled this and how recovery will be different as opposed to just doing FUT? The doc is one of the best in the world so I am not so much worried about that...just never considered having to do both and am kinda bummed Any tips, advice, encouragement, will help!
  2. Hello All, I am considering doing a 2nd procedure, using FUT. Specifically, I am looking at doing it with Dr. Victor Hasson (from Hasson & Wong) in Vancouver. Looking at getting about 1500-2000 grafts. Can anyone comment on their experience on Dr. Hasson, the clinic or what they've heard? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!
  3. Thanks Steeeve, I as well had seen a couple of people in person who had their transplants done by Dr. Gillespie and they looked really good. They looked so good that it helped me in deciding to get a transplant done by Dr. G. As I understand it, his approach is fairly conservative because if you're younger (as I was when I did the procedure) he doesn't want to go too crazy as you'll continue to bald. He initially suggested I do 2,000 grafts and I think I ended up getting 2,400 the first go around. Just spoke with him earlier and he said for this second procedure, we could push it to 2,000 but doesn't want to go much beyond that because my scalp is quite tight and my donor area is average at best. Appreciate the input, it's always good to hear other people like the work of the doctor you're considering.
  4. Probably good for me to come out and say this; YOU don't know what you're talking about. I appreciate the feedback but how can you comment on my doc (Dr. Gillespie) without knowing who he is or the kind of work he does? You're obviously a troll who likes the sound of your own voice. Did you consider perhaps that it's been 6 YEARS since I've done my first procedure and have continued to bald since then? Doesn't really reflect the results from the first procedure, does it? Additionally, did you keep in mind that the doctor I went to offered a conservative approach, as I was in my early thirties and knew I would continue balding? No, you just started critiquing my doctors "skill" because he didn't do 5,000 grafts on me the first time. Way to go, keyboard warrior! The only valid tidbit of info in your little rant was that I should seek the opinions of other doctors and I will - I have an appointment with Hasson & Wong in 3 weeks and will see what they have to say. Thanks for that. Lastly, you seem irritated with my posts. May I offer some advice to you: if you don't like my posts don't read them
  5. It's Dr. John Gillespie from the Gillespie Clinic in Calgary, Canada. He's been doing transplants for over 30 years. From the research I've done, he's pretty good. I've had a friend go to him as well for 2 procedures (2,400 and 2,200 grafts each time) and his hair looks pretty darn good. Additionally, although some people on here would have me believe the results from my first procedure aren't great, they don't realize it's been 6 years since I had my transplant and have balded quite a bit since then. I should mention, I have a consultation coming up with Hasson & Wong (in Vancouver) coming up soon to see what they have to say. Can anyone comment? Thanks,
  6. Again: am I not physically limited to what the doc said my head can provide? Sure, I'd love another 2,400 grafts but what makes everyone so sure that with another doc this will be feasible?
  7. Please explain why doing another procedure with him would be waste of time? But if the doc that did the last transplant says I can max out at another 1,700 grafts how do you think Hasson + Wong could do it for 4,000 grafts? Am I not stuck my physical limitations?...
  8. I see your point, but please keep in mind he did 2,200-2,400 the first time and is suggesting 1,700 this time. That's a total of 4,000 grafts. Still not good enough?
  9. What makes you say that? And also, what else can I do about it? If doc says that's all I can do then that's all I can do, right?
  10. Hi guys, So I had my first FUT procedure 5 years ago and the doc gave me 2,200 grafts. I've been thinking about a second procedure now and went to see the doc and he told me due to not great density in the donor area and scalp tightness the first time, he could do roughly 1,500-1,700 grafts this time. See photos of my head attached (keep in mind 5 years has passed since my first procedure and I've balded a bit since) I got some reasonable coverage after my first procedure so do you think 1,500-1,700 grafts will help much? In other words, if you were me and wanted more hair, would you do the procedure for an additional 1,500-1,700 grafts? Also, can anyone post a pic or two of some before and afters of roughly that amount? Thanks,
  11. Here are a few photos, see for yourself. You think 1,500-1,700 grafts would really help a brother out?
  12. Thanks so much for your advice! Really one of the better replies I've read on this forum. Definitely makes me feel more at ease. I've attached a couple of photos of my head for reference. Hopefully 1,500-1,700 grafts would be a noticeable difference. So, the scalp exercises really work? I should start on them ASAP.
  13. Thanks so much for your advice! I totally agree with you - might as well get the most I can out of FUT since I've already done it. Besides, I am told the density is greater if I am doing FUT and I am all about getting the most density. Question: will an additional 150-1700 really make a noticeable difference? Doesn't seem like a lot of grafts. Then again, not sure if I am able to do more. Can someone post what a 1500-1700 graft difference look like? I've attached my photos for reference
  14. If your first two procedures were so small this didn't worry you? Where did they get the rest of the strips from?
