  3. Hi everyone, For quite a while I'm really insecure and stressed about my receded hairline. I think I'm inbewteen NWII, NWIII. A while ago I ordered a hairsystem, cut out a part and put it on the receding part (I wear my hair in such a style so it wont show the hairline). Yet I am really scared for the ingredients that are inside of the tapes and adhesives. After trying out the piece for half a year I really consider going for a hairtransplant to lower the receded hairline a little bit. I'm 21 years old and won't expect my hairline to recede that much further, my receded hairline is almost identical to my dad's. I think I'll be very happy with about 700-1000 grafts. I've got quite some questions: 1. Is it possible to have a hairtransplant even after the use of hairpiece tape? 2. Do I have to take minox/fina etc. after the hairtransplant? (I'd rather not since I really don't want to take the risk of the side effects, even if they're small) 3. Are there more people of my age who had a hairtransplant? 4. Is the transfered hair quality similar to the rest of the hair? 5. I once read a story about someone who still felt the pain in the back of his head after the transplant for a long time. I hope I can get some answers on some of these questions. Thanks in advance. Regards, LKloss
  4. It's hard to find a tape which is medical grade and tells its ingredients. Does anyone know a tape which is medical grade and tells the ingredients? Untill then I'm going to wear the partial piece just occasionally (unfortunately)..
  5. Hi everyone! Lately I've been quite concerned about the ingredients that are inside the tape I use to attach my (partial) system. Currently I use supertape and couldn't really find a clear answer if the tape was non-damaging/non-harmful for your health. Worrying about if the tape included toluene, cyanoacylate, heptane etc. So I decided to send an e-mail to True Tape (owner of supertape). I asked him if these ingredients were included and if there was a chance to a health side effects or any harmful effects at all. These are some quotes from our conversation: ''Tapes, including SUPERTAPE, are congealed masses of specialized polymers and crossed-polymers. That said, they are formed into a thick mass and will not penetrate the skin, entering the blood-stream thereby forcing the body to remove them. If you develop an allergic reaction to any product, you should stop using it.'' ''It does not have ANY of those ingredients nor does it have parabens or phthalates. I have attached the MSDS sheet for you. When you receive it for use, the only “ingredient” of SUPERTAPE is an acrylic adhesive comprised of a matrix of various linked and cross-linked polymers. '' ''The interior carrier is a urethane. If not, you’re right – under normal use conditions the urethane would never make direct contact with your skin.'' ''I can check on the BPAs for you, but that would have to be on Monday. Normally, these are found in hard plastics, not soft acrylics, and missible in ethanol which is not a solvent used in this adhesive formulation.'' ''The urethane is encapsulated within the layers of adhesive, so it does NOT come in contact with the skin. I wouldn’t imagine it causing troubles for you. We’ve been distributing SUPERTAPE since 2007 and no known issues have ever arisen except for the occasional allergic reaction which resolves when the adhesive is removed. '' I also discussed this topic a little bit here:https://www.hairlosstalk.com/interact/threads/hairstyle-question-and-some-tape-information.102033/#post-1388100 It just really haunts me, yet at the other hand I'm like ''people have been wearing tapes for over 30 years and had no problem, it can't penentrate the skin so why should I worry so much?'' For this reason I'd like to keep using tape, I don't show my hairline so the tape is okay. I'd like to hear your opinions about the skin penentration, toxicity, health damage etc. Thanks in advance! p.s. sorry for my not so fluent english, I hope you can understand. And sorry for posting a almost identical post, I really like to hear more opinions about this topic .
  6. Hi everyone, My hairpiece works just fine . I still have one question on my mind, can hairpiecetape or hairglue cause health damage over the long term use? I sometimes worry about that.. Thank you!
  7. Thanks for your reply, no need to worry then I wanted to try tape as well instead of glue. I read that water-based glue is the most healthy/non-damaging for your scalp. Is there also a tape wich is the most healthy/non-damaging for your scalp with a 3 day to 1 week+ hold (sweat-proof)? If so, wich one would you recommand?
  8. Hi there, I'm planning on wearing a lace hair system just on the receding parts of my frontal hairline and attach it with glue. Now there's one question that has been quite bothering me.. Does wearing an hairpiece on already bald spots accelerate/cause hairloss in the surrounding area? I want to take it off carefully and clean it at least once a week (if the glue (ghostbond xl) holds up that long). Also, I'm not planning on wearing it for weeks in a row. Hope someone can help me out with this question Thank you!
